YMA reaches out to Myanmar refugee leaders in Mizoram

Aizawl: The central committee of the Young Mizo Association (YMA), the apex body of the Mizos and the largest community based organisation, has reached out to the leaders of refugees from Myanmar taking shelter across Mizoram.
They informed the leaders that refugees involving in drug trafficking and other crimes will not be tolerated.
General secretary of the central YMA Prof Malsawmliana told TOI on Sunday that the refugees have been told to adhere to the local societal rules and regulations of the places they are taking shelter, as well as the laws of the land and govt orders.
"We have told all of them to have temporary identity cards issued by the state govt for the refugees and not try to obtain Aadhaar Card, EPIC, driving licence, residential certificate and others which are for the Indian citizens only," Malsawmliana said.
The refugees are also informed that anyone indulging in illegal activities will be punished according to the Indian law.
They were informed that as the refugees belonged to ethnic Mizos and blood brothers of Mizoram people, the YMA and its members will help them whenever needed and will never abandon them.
President of central YMA Lalhmachhuana also urged the Myanmar refugees to help maintain peace in Mizoram, which is the most peaceful states in the country and not incite hatred among different sub-tribes of the Chins, originally from Chin state.

Aizawl district deputy commissioner Lalhriatpuia and Sr SP CID (special branch) Stephen Lalrinawma urged the refugees not to try to obtain documents meant only for Indian citizens. Assistant commissioner of state excise & narcotics department Pu VL Vura Ralte asked them not to indulge in drug trafficking and assist the authorities in combating the drug menace.
The meeting, held on Friday, was attended by over 60 people representing different refugee organisations and relief camps as well as elected representatives of Chin state taking shelter in the state.

1 2 Nagpur: Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar crafted the Indian Constitution by blending global and timeless Indian values, with the Preamble being its core. If citizens embrace the values enshrined in the Preamble, 90% of the country's issues could be resolved permanently, said chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday. Fadnavis was speaking during the inauguration of the Constitution Preamble Park and a full-length statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Bhushan Gavai on the premises of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar School of Law. Union minister for road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari , said the park will spread the Constitution's fundamental ideas among students and the public. Fadnavis stated that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction for him that the Constitution Preamble Park and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's statue are being unveiled at the same law college where he studied constitutional principles and put them into practice. The CM stressed that completion and public opening of this park during the Amrit Mahotsav year of the Constitution is particularly significant. "The Indian Constitution has established a robust democracy, ensuring freedom of expression, fundamental rights, equal opportunities, and a system for delivering justice. This has enabled India to become the world's fourth-largest economy. The Preamble is the essence of the Constitution, and its values need to be embraced by all citizens," he said. Fadnavis expressed confidence that the park will inspire everyone who visits it. He also announced that a new building for the School of Law would be constructed, and all necessary facilities would be provided for the park. Gadkari said Nagpur University took the initiative to establish the Constitution Preamble Park, which was realised with financial support from the state govt and public participation. He highlighted that the university has produced eminent personalities like a Prime Minister, while Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Law College has given the country two CJIs. "The establishment of the park adds to this legacy," he said. Social justice minister Sanjay Shirsat discussed the financial and other support provided by the social justice ministry for the park's establishment. Senior social activist and chairman of the Constitution Preamble Park Committee, Girish Gandhi, provided details of the park's development stages. Nagpur University acting VC Madhavi Khode-Chaware, School of Law director Ravishankar Mor, Constitution Preamble Park Committee members and others were present on the occasion. Committee member Puran Meshram read out the Constitution's Preamble.

Bengaluru woman kills pet dog, keeps decomposed body in flat for 3 days
Bengaluru: A woman has been booked on charges of killing her pet dog and keeping the body in her flat at Doddanekkundi, Mahadevapura, for three days. The incident came to light when other occupants of the apartment alerted civic authorities Thursday, saying a foul smell was emanating from the flat. Residents said the occupant, identified as Triparna Paik, wasn't cooperating with them to find the source of the smell and understand what had happened inside the flat. With the help of local police, a BBMP veterinary doctor entered the flat and found the decomposed body of a black male labrador retriever. SHO denied anticipatory bail by Hisar court after affair with accused
Gurgaon: In a case that saw professional codes breached and lines between sleuth and suspect blur, an SHO who had an affair with the man she was tasked with investigating now faces arrest. The 50-year-old inspector was rapped for conduct "unbecoming of a police officer" as a sessions court in Hisar denied her anticipatory bail in an FIR filed against her at Azad Nagar police station on June 9 under provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, IT Act and relevant sections of BNS. The court, however, also rapped police for adding irrelevant charges to the FIR. The complaint in the case is the wife of Aman Siwach, the man the SHO was investigating in a property encroachment case. Siwach's wife alleged the cop "deliberately" kept her husband under the influence of alcohol and forced him to spend Rs 1 lakh a month on her. She also claimed the SHO threatened to frame Aman in a rape case. The FIR was registered against the SHO after Siwach's wife furnished WhatsApp chats and audio recordings as evidence. The cop moved court, seeking protection from arrest. But additional sessions judge Manglesh Kumar Choubey, while denying bail, observed that while intimate relationships between consenting adults are protected under Article 21 of the Constitution, they become "immoral" when the parties are already married (the SHO is married, too). The court was also critical of an investigating officer getting into a relationship with an accused, describing it as "moral turpitude". The court insisted on the need for the SHO's custodial interrogation to investigate the money trail and prevent interference with witnesses. "This was not a one-time affair, it continued. This relationship was not confined to personal intimacy but encompassed within its ambit every possible attempt of interference in the working of the police force. Such acts and conduct are not expected from any public servant, but it was unbecoming of a police officer heading a police station. Her custodial interrogation is absolutely essential for proper investigation, to confront her with all the transactions on the records, to investigate the money trail, and to stop her from interfering with the investigation and influencing the complainant and witnesses," the judge ruled. The court also reprimanded police for adding several unwarranted sections to the FIR against the cop, stating that such actions did not merit "any medal or appreciation". "Let all investigating officers know that the addition of unwanted and irrelevant offences in any FIR does not make them eligible for any medal or appreciation," the court said.
