'I think it's a cool character': Steven Ogg finally puts Trevor rumors to rest
During a Q&A at Comic Con Brussels on May 11, 2025, GTA V actor Steven Ogg spoke to the long-standing fan perception that he does not like being identified with Trevor Phillips, the wild, deranged character he memorably played.
Again, Ogg reiterated that he does not have any issue with Trevor or Grand Theft Auto V and that the rumors of his alleged disdain for the role are completely unwarranted.

Standing with co-stars Shawn Fonteno (Franklin) and Ned Luke (Michael), Ogg was questioned whether it's really that he doesn't want to be known as Trevor Phillips. In no time at all, Ogg answered,
"It does not bother me whatsoever. I mean, I think it's a cool character."
Joking on, he said,
"The older I am getting, the more I am looking like him,"
to some laughter in the audience.
Ogg clarified that fans tend to take what he says out of context or misread his deadpan sense of humor as a reason for these ongoing rumors. He stressed that if he actually didn't like the character or had problems with Rockstar Games, he wouldn't still be showing up at something like Comic Con alongside his co-actors.
Not the first time he has had to deal with the rumor
This was not something new for Ogg. He has had to clarify this misperception several times before, but it still haunts him. Nevertheless, he is still friendly and open when the subject is brought up.
Ogg has time and again singled out Trevor as a great, interesting, and well-written character. His voice and motion capture performance brought Trevor to life in a manner that made the character unforgettable to his fans, something Ogg is particularly proud of.
He is not only the actor who portrayed Trevor; he is Trevor to millions of players across the globe, and he's never shied away from that heritage.
Steven Ogg's comments at Comic Con Brussels should bring an end to the rumors once and for all: he doesn't despise Trevor, and he's not sick of being associated with GTA V. To the contrary, he likes the character and the fan base that comes with it. Perhaps now, the fans can refrain from asking and instead enjoy his legendary performance for what it is.
