Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail, she confirmed that both Kasim and Suleman, the sons of the ex-prime minister Imran Khan, possess valid travel documents and 'will come to see their father anytime soon.'
However, she withheld specific dates, hinting at the fluidity and uncertainty surrounding their planned visits in a politically charged environment.
Government ministers have suggested the possibility that visa refusals might prevent the young men from entering the country.
But Aleema Khan dismissed such claims as a transparent ploy – a calculated attempt by authorities fearful that the presence of Imran Khan's sons could galvanise public support and intensify demands for his release. 'This is nothing but political harassment and an infringement upon the rights of a Pakistani citizen,' she lamented.
'They want to isolate my brother, weaken his morale, and prevent the masses from seeing his condition. But we will not be intimidated.' She revealed that her sisters, Noreen Khan and Uzma Khan, were denied permission again to meet Imran Khan on Tuesday. Previously, Adiala Jail had allowed six visitors at a time; this was subsequently reduced to just two.

Government-run colleges: Punjab CM agrees to establish ‘College Management Council'
LAHORE: 'Upgrade GC University, Lahore College for Women University and University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, as model educational institutions,' Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed the authorities concerned while chairing a special meeting of the Higher Education Department. She reviewed proposals for governance reforms and institutional autonomy in public sector universities. She informed, 'many foreign universities including those of UK, Korea and Kazakhstan have expressed interest in setting up campuses in Punjab. University of London, University of Brunel, University of Gloucestershire, University of Leicester and others have offered to set up campuses in Punjab.' The Chief Minister directed the authorities concerned to emphasize on improving teaching quality, innovative research and creative knowledge in the universities of the province. She directed them to prioritise focus on human resource development in these universities. She said, 'digital transformation and global connectivity in universities is also among priorities.' She directed to hold Higher Education Conference in Punjab for the first time, and sought a detailed report on inactive commerce colleges in Punjab. The CM agreed to establish College Management Council for government colleges in Punjab, and directed the relevant authorities to implement 'KPI' system to raise standard of education in the universities. She said, 'The performance of a Vice Chancellor will be evaluated on the basis of 'KPI' criteria.' She also sought a report on underperforming colleges in the province, and directed to establish Education Vigilance Squad, which will conduct surprise checks on attendance, cleanliness, quality of education and other issues in educational institutions. She said, 'Immediate action will be taken on the report of Education Vigilance Squad under the supervision of Minister for Education.' She reviewed a proposal to set green, blue, yellow and grey rankings of the universities based on their quality of education. The Chief Minister received a detailed briefing on CM Punjab Honhar Scholarship and Laptop Schemes. She was briefed by the authorities concerned, 'More than 19,000 students from other provinces, besides Punjab, have applied for these Schemes of Chief Minister Punjab.' Formation of commission to probe blasphemy cases: IHC suspends single bench's order
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC), Thursday, suspended a single bench's order of directing the government to constitute a commission within 30 days to probe blasphemy cases. A division bench comprising Justice Khadim Hussain and Justice Azam Khan issued the order in an Intra Court Appeal (ICA) filed by Rao Abdul Rahim advocate against the decision of Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan. In the ICA, the petitioner urged the court to declare the single-bench decision null and void, and to dismiss the original petition as inadmissible. He maintained that the single bench exercised suo motu powers and issued directions without hearing the respondents' version. The petitioner further argued that the original petitioners had multiple legal forums available to them, including trial courts, but chose not to approach them. He said that forming a commission to probe criminal allegations contradicts established legal procedures and precedents set by the higher courts. In this connection, Justice Ejaz directed the federal government to constitute a commission within 30 days to probe blasphemy cases. He issued the directions in petitions filed by the victim families seeking formation of judicial commission to investigate the cases. The bench directed the federal government to form a commission within 30 days to investigate blasphemy cases. It also directed that the commission formed by the federal government must complete its proceedings within four months. In this matter, the victim families, represented by advocates Abid Saqi and Usman Warraich, had petitioned the high court for the formation of a judicial commission. They mentioned a report by the Punjab Special Branch titled 'The Blasphemy Business'. The report alleged that a suspicious gang had been entrapping youth in blasphemy cases and extorting money from them after filing complaints with the FIA in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The petitioners asserted that this gang is the complainant in nearly 90 per cent of blasphemy cases registered by the FIA. It added that operating under the name 'Legal Commission on Blasphemy,' the group is said to be consisted of both men and women targeting poor and lower-middle-class Muslim families. They revealed that a concerning pattern emerges in the FIRs: out of over 400 alleged victims, 70 per cent are young men and women in their twenties or younger while many of the victims are professionals, including engineers, Hafiz-e-Quran, and degree holders in various fields. They further said that they had approached the federal government with a formal request dated August 4, 2024, seeking the formation of an inquiry commission on the Special Branch's report. Aleema says IK has ordered launch of nationwide movement
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan has instructed the party leadership to launch a full-scale nationwide movement against the government, his sister Aleema Khan said on Thursday. Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail, Aleema Khan revealed that Imran Khan has directed PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to mobilise an effective campaign across the country. Addressing questions about the arrival of Khan's sons-Kasim Khan and Sulaiman Isa Khan-to Pakistan, Aleema said 'the former prime minister considers it their right to speak out in support of him.' Regarding the ongoing Toshakhana case, Aleema Khan condemned the treatment of Imran Khan inside Adiala Jail and the restrictions imposed during the court hearings. She stated that the legal team and family were only informed about the hearing hours before it began, and only two lawyers were allowed entry. Family members, other lawyers, and media personnel were barred from attending the session, she added. 'We waited outside the jail for four and a half hours,' Aleema told reporters, adding that Khan has been confined to a cell for 22 hours daily without access to newspapers, books, or television, and has only recently been provided with a single book. 'He has instructed his lawyers to inform the public about the inhumane conditions he is enduring in prison,' she said. Earlier, the special court, hearing the Toshakhana II case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, completed recording statements of nine prosecution witnesses. Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand, while hearing the case at Adiala Jail, adjourned the case till July 26 after the defence completed the cross-examination of another prosecution witness Shafqat Mehmood. Khan's counsel Qausain Faisal Mufti also conducted a partial cross-examination over another witness Mohsin Hassan. Jail authorities produce Khan and his wife before the court. Prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi and Umair Majeed appeared before the court. The court adjourned hearing till July 26. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
