‘Big fan': Braves legend Chipper Jones lauds Coastal Carolina baseball coach
Chipper Jones, the switch-hitting third baseman who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018, praised the team and its coach Tuesday in a social media post that was critical of other teams vying for playoff spots.

'Spent quite a bit of time watching college baseball this weekend,' Jones wrote on X.com. 'I will only watch a select few teams from here on out. Reason? They have coaches that respect the game and their opponents and demand the same of their players. Any team that doesn't wear the uni correctly, taunts the other team, and has a coach that condones this behavior, is a disgrace to the game.
'Big fan of coach Schnall at Coastal Carolina! Him and his team represent what college baseball should be like. Well done, sir! U stand for proper behavior.'
Kevin Schnall, in his first year as CCU head coach, made headlines this week criticizing the actions of University of Florida baseball coach Kevin O'Sullivan, who was caught on video berating staff at the NCAA Regionals in Conway this past weekend.

'I have to say this, and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to or not, but I believe in standing up to for what's right, and what transpired this morning on our field, another coach disrespected our associate AD, who works as hard as anybody in our entire program, he disrespected our field crew, who are the salt of the earth, these guys would do anything for our program, it's not okay,' Schnall said. 'And this needs to be brought up. Absolutely disrespectful.'
O'Sullivan has since issued a statement apologizing for his behavior.
CCU advanced out of the region that included Florida, East Carolina University and Fairfield University. They will play Auburn University beginning Friday in a best-of-three series to determine which team advances to the College World Series.

Jurickson Profar Contract Could be 'Worst Signing in Braves History'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Jurickson Profar has been a disappointment this season to say the least. Suspension aside, he's played 27 games for the Atlanta Braves and posted a 101 OPS+ through 127 at-bats. Eric Cole from House That Hank Built believes this could end up being one of the worst contracts in Braves history. "Profar's suspension alone is enough to consider signing him a mistake," Cole wrote. "However, when you take that in combination with some truly troubling trends with his batted ball metrics, you have the recipe for a deal that could go down as one of the worst in Braves history." CINCINNATI, OHIO - JULY 31: Jurickson Profar #7 of the Atlanta Braves in action during the game against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park on July 31, 2025 in Cincinnati, Ohio. CINCINNATI, OHIO - JULY 31: Jurickson Profar #7 of the Atlanta Braves in action during the game against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park on July 31, 2025 in Cincinnati, hard to pay someone $42 million over three years and watch them sit out for 80 games of the first year. While Profar isn't exactly lighting it up at the plate, he's producing league-average numbers. However, the Braves didn't shell out $42 million for league average. "It is easy to think that the reason for Profar's regression is because he is no longer on the juice," wrote Cole. "However, with his chronic knee issues and at his age, it is just possible that the Braves bought him past his prime. Bad deals like the ones handed out to BJ Upton and Derek Lowe ended up being disappointing, but between the $15 million a year he is making, how not tradable he is likely to be, and the the PED suspension, it is looking more and more like Profar is going to go down as what the Braves' worst signings of all time and could be even worse those deals before it is all said and done." It may be too soon to put this one in the category of worst trades in team history, but Profar certainly has a long way to go before he can prove to the fans and organization his contract was justified. Aaron Boone Offers Blunt 4-Word Response to Yankees Struggles After Latest Loss
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The New York Yankees were swept by the Miami Marlins over the weekend and picked up their fourth consecutive loss on Monday night against the Texas Rangers. The Yankees entered Tuesday in third place in the American League East. The team is 25-31 since the start of June, and Aaron Boone had a blunt message on how his team needs to move on from this rough stretch. "Gotta get over it," Boone told reporters after the team's struggles following its 8-5 loss against the Rangers, per SNY's Ben Krimmel. More Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images The Yankees' issues can't be linked to one singular thing. On some nights, their pitching is letting them down, and on others, it's the offense. If both are clicking, then the baserunning and defense find a way to be a problem. "We gotta win games," Boone continued, per Krimmel. "The season's getting shorter in a hurry, so it's no time for excuses and feeling bad. I know everyone feels like crap, but we gotta go take it. Haven't been able to do that on this road trip so far, but we gotta do better." There are fewer than 50 games to play, and the Yankees seemingly have a lot of work to do if they want to be considered a real threat in the American League. The Yankees are 5 1/2 games back of the division lead, and while they can still come back to take the top spot, time is not on their side. Braves Predicted To Cut Ties With $15 Million Trade Acquisition This Season
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. This season has been a complete disaster for the Atlanta Braves. Rather than contend for the World Series, the Braves have dealt with injury after injury. They've been crippled beyond recognition. While this season is a lost cause, the future is still right in front of them. There are moves to be made, especially with some of the talented players set to return from injuries in the near future. Eric Cole of The House That Hank Built recently predicted the Braves would cut ties with veteran pitcher Erick Fedde once one of their starting pitchers returns from injury this year. KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI - JULY 29: Erick Fedde #22 of the Atlanta Braves throws a pitch in the first inning against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium on July 29, 2025 in Kansas City,... KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI - JULY 29: Erick Fedde #22 of the Atlanta Braves throws a pitch in the first inning against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium on July 29, 2025 in Kansas City, Missouri. More"So this is assuming that the Braves get one of their many injured pitchers back and one of the fill-ins has to go. Bryce Elder can be infuriating, but he has shown at least some competency, and he can be optioned anyway," Cole wrote. "The main candidates are Erick Fedde and Carlos Carrasco, and it is a close call between the two starters, but it feels like Carrasco is the kind of veteran mentor the Braves want around, whereas Fedde will have to earn the right to stay, and that seems unlikely." Once the Braves have a starting pitcher return from injury, Fedde will be designated for assignment or cut again. He's not a very competitive big leaguer at this stage of his career, and it seems like the Braves only added him to eat innings while their rotation was injured. With Hurston Waldrep throwing well in the Speedway Classic, the Braves already have one youngster to stay on the roster. Fedde will lose his spot in the big leagues when a prospect is ready or when an injured starter is set to return to Atlanta.
