DeFi Technologies' SUI Treasury Grows to US$20.2M (C$27.7M): Now the Company's second-largest holding after Bitcoin, up 41% month-over-month.
Recurring Revenue from Yield and Fees: Valour's SUI ETP earns a 3.3% staking yield and 1.9% management fee; the Company's blended yield across all staked AUM is approximately 8%, supporting sustainable, non-dilutive growth, supporting its position as one of the only profitable, cash-generating public crypto companies.
TORONTO, July 16, 2025 /CNW/ - DeFi Technologies Inc. (the " Company" or " DeFi Technologies") (Nasdaq: DEFT) (CBOE CA: DEFI) (GR: R9B), a financial technology company bridging the gap between traditional capital markets and decentralized finance ("DeFi"), is pleased to announce all-time highs in SUI assets under management (AUM) through its subsidiary Valour Inc. ("Valour"), as well as a significant milestone in the Company's corporate SUI digital asset treasury.
As of July 15, 2025, Valour recorded an all-time high of US$63,545,741 (C$87,166,328) in SUI AUM, representing an increase of approximately 54% since June 30, driven by growing institutional demand and broader market interest in emerging Layer 1 ecosystems. Valour's SUI ETP is also among the fastest-growing products in its portfolio of over 75 exchange-traded products (ETPs).
At the same time, DeFi Technologies' corporate treasury holdings of 4,913,918 SUI also reached an all-time high of approximately US$20.2 million (C$27.7 million), up roughly 41% since June 30, making SUI the Company's second-largest digital asset holding, behind only Bitcoin.
"Our SUI strategy continues to deliver, both in terms of market performance and treasury growth," said Olivier Roussy Newton, CEO of DeFi Technologies. "As with Bitcoin, we're not just holding SUI—we're monetizing it through our vertically integrated infrastructure across asset management, trading, and staking. We're proud to be among the first to offer newly launched tokens like SUI as regulated ETPs, and this momentum is core to our roadmap of bringing 100 high-conviction digital assets to traditional markets through secure, compliant investment vehicles."
What is SUI?
SUI is a high-performance, Layer 1 blockchain designed for speed, scalability, and user-friendly development. Built by former Meta engineers, SUI enables fast and cost-efficient execution of decentralized applications and smart contracts. Its novel consensus mechanism and object-centric architecture position it as one of the most promising chains in the next generation of blockchain infrastructure.
Staking SUI for Yield
Valour monetizes its AUM through a combination of staking yields and management fees, converting passive exposure into recurring revenue. Unlike traditional ETP issuers, Valour retains staking rewards as income—capturing value directly from the digital assets held within its products, alongside the fees charged to investors.
Valour's SUI ETP exemplifies this model, generating a 1.9% management fee and a 3.3% annual staking yield on SUI under management. This dual-revenue structure supports DeFi Technologies' vertically integrated strategy, reinforcing its ability to systematically monetize AUM.
Across its entire staked AUM, Valour earns a blended yield of approximately 8%, further enhancing the Company's profitability and ability to scale without relying on dilution or external capital.
SUI: A Strategic Addition to the Corporate Treasury
DeFi Technologies continues to strategically expand and manage its diversified digital asset treasury in alignment with its long-term investment thesis on digital infrastructure. As of June 30, 2025, the total treasury was valued at approximately US$48.4 million (C$66 million), with positions in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, and other high-conviction tokens.
The growth of SUI to US$20.2 million (C$27.7 million), now the Company's second-largest position, reflects its growing strategic importance and market relevance.
In addition to its crypto holdings, the Company also maintains approximately US$14 million (C$19 million) in cash and USDT, offering flexibility to rebalance or expand the treasury as market conditions evolve.
This growth reflects DeFi Technologies' ability to capitalize on emerging ecosystems while maintaining a disciplined, revenue-generating approach to digital asset management.
Digital Asset Treasury
As part of its vertically integrated model, DeFi Technologies actively manages a diversified digital asset treasury designed to support long-term capital appreciation, strategic flexibility, and balance sheet strength. These holdings complement the Company's core operating businesses—including asset management, staking, and trading—and are acquired using free cash flow generated by the Company, without the need for dilution or leverage.
As of June 30, 2025, DeFi Technologies' digital asset treasury was valued at approximately US$48.4 million (C$66 million). The portfolio includes direct exposure to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and other high-conviction tokens aligned with the Company's long-term outlook on digital infrastructure. In addition, the Company holds approximately US$14 million (C$19 million) in cash and USDT, providing strategic flexibility to expand or rebalance its treasury as market conditions evolve.
The portfolio breakdown is as follows as of June 30, 2025:
This robust treasury strategy not only strengthens the Company's financial foundation but also enhances its ability to capitalize on future growth opportunities and aligns with its goal of building long-term shareholder value.

Starmer, Modi hail long-sought India-UK free trade deal
LONDON, U.K.: In a significant step forward for post-Brexit Britain and rising global power India, Prime Ministers Keir Starmer and Narendra Modi on July 24 concluded a long-awaited free trade agreement that will dramatically reduce tariffs on key goods and deepen economic and strategic cooperation between the two countries. The signing took place at Chequers, the British Prime Minister's official country residence, where trade ministers Jonathan Reynolds of the U.K. and Piyush Goyal of India formalized the pact. The deal, years in the making, was hailed as a turning point in bilateral relations and a symbol of renewed ambition on both sides. Starmer described it as "the most substantial and economically transformative trade agreement" the United Kingdom has entered into since its departure from the European Union in 2020. Modi, echoing the sentiment, called it "a historic day" in India–U.K. relations. Alongside the trade pact, the two nations unveiled nearly six billion pounds (US$8 billion) in new commercial and investment commitments across strategic sectors such as artificial intelligence, aerospace, dairy, and clean energy. Both leaders pledged closer collaboration in defense, climate action, healthcare, and migration policy. The deal, which still requires ratification by the British Parliament, has been in negotiation since early 2022. Talks were launched initially under then-Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who ambitiously promised a conclusion by the Diwali festival that year. However, negotiations saw multiple delays under the former Conservative government, only gaining new momentum after the 2024 elections, which saw Modi win re-election and Labour come to power under Starmer. Under the agreement, India's average tariff on British exports will drop sharply from 15 percent to three percent. Notably, tariffs on Scotch whisky and English gin — long a sticking point — will be cut in half from 150 percent to 75 percent, and gradually reduced to 40 percent over a decade. Automotive tariffs, which currently exceed 100 percent, will fall to 10 percent under a tariff-rate quota system. The U.K. projects that the deal will boost bilateral trade by 25.5 billion pounds ($35 billion) annually by 2040 and inject nearly five billion pounds ($6.8 billion) a year into the British economy. Meanwhile, India's Trade Ministry has stated that 99 percent of Indian exports, including textiles, leather goods, and food items, will be granted duty-free access to the U.K. market. Beyond the numbers, the agreement underscores a renewed political and cultural closeness. Nearly two million people of Indian origin live in the U.K., a legacy of deep historical ties dating back to the colonial era, which ended in 1947. Starmer emphasized that shared heritage and people-to-people connections provide a strong foundation for a modern partnership. "The U.K. and India have unique bonds of history, of family and of culture," he said. "This deal marks the beginning of a new chapter — ambitious, modern, and built for the future." With a nod to the cricket rivalry currently playing out between the two nations, Modi added a lighthearted metaphor: "Cricket is a great symbol of our partnership. There may be a swing and a miss at times, but we always play with a straight bat. Together, we are building a high-scoring, enduring alliance." The agreement is seen not just as a bilateral milestone, but as a signal of Britain's growing pivot toward the Indo-Pacific and India's emergence as a central player in global trade diplomacy.

Better EV Stock: Alphabet vs. Tesla (Hint: Robotaxis Are the Key)
Key Points The future of the auto industry lies in electric vehicles and ridesharing in autonomous vehicles. After many years in service, Waymo still can't point to a timeline of profitability. Tesla also faces challenges with its robotaxi offering, but it's well positioned, provided it can demonstrate safety and efficacy. These 10 stocks could mint the next wave of millionaires › Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG)(NASDAQ: GOOGL) isn't, strictly speaking, an electric vehicle (EV) company. However, its autonomous driving technology company, Waymo, is committed to only using EVs in its fleet. Funnily enough, it could be argued that Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) isn't really a pure EV company either. After all, most of its sky–high valuation is attributable to the potential of its robotaxis. However, the comparison of these two as EV companies is valid because the future of the auto industry is EVs, and ridesharing in autonomous vehicles will be a larger part of the industry in the future. But which company is better placed, and which is the better stock? Where to invest $1,000 right now? Our analyst team just revealed what they believe are the 10 best stocks to buy right now. Continue » Alphabet vs. Tesla It's entirely possible that Alphabet could decide to spin off Waymo, not least because it reportedly could be valued at more than $45 billion. Meanwhile, one of Tesla's biggest supporters, Cathie Wood's Ark Invest, ascribes 88% of Tesla's enterprise value (market cap plus net debt) to robotaxis in its investment case for the stock, producing an expected value of $2,600 for the stock in 2029. As I have previously discussed, the Ark targets should be taken with a pinch of salt, as its track record on Tesla hasn't been good. However, Ark's core argument is sound and points to Tesla being potentially a far more valuable stock than Waymo ever will be. Pathways to profitability The core argument is that Tesla's business model is scalable to profitability while Waymo's is far less so. The issue of Waymo's profitability arose in a recent CNBC interview with Waymo co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana, where she was asked whether Waymo is profitable. She replied, "We're proving out that it can be a profitable business." When asked when Waymo would be profitable, she replied, "not clear." It's also not clear if Alphabet/Waymo doesn't have an internal forecast for when it will hit profitability, or if Mawakana preferred not to divulge what the company considers an uncertain forecast. However, it's inconceivable that Alphabet is not internally crunching the numbers on this, and if it does decide to spin off Waymo, it's a question that needs to be answered. The point here is that a business that can't be profitable isn't worth anything, let alone $45 billion, so at some point, its management is going to have to set some timelines. Tesla and timelines Whereas investors need to hear more about timelines from Waymo, whose public self-driving ride-hailing service was launched in 2018, there's probably a need for fewer declared timelines from Tesla, or, rather, a need for more accurate ones. For example, in 2019, CEO Elon Musk famously told investors to expect a million self-driving vehicles on the road by mid-2020. In April 2022, he also stated that Tesla aspired to reach volume production of a dedicated robotaxi (Cybercab) in 2024 -- a timeline that has now been pushed back to 2026. These timeline estimates matter because plugging overly optimistic assumptions from them into valuation models can produce dramatically erroneous conclusions. Why Tesla is better positioned With all that said, Tesla has clear advantages over Waymo, provided it can demonstrate safety and reliability and achieve regulatory approvals. Its advantages include: Lower vehicle costs, with Musk aiming for a $30,000 price tag for a dedicated robotaxi, the Cybercab. Meanwhile, Wall Street analysts estimate Waymo's current vehicles cost more than $120,000. In addition, Tesla manufactures its own cars (Waymo does not), and existing Teslas can be converted into robotaxis using Tesla's as-yet-unreleased-to-the-public unsupervised full self-driving (FSD) software, giving Tesla a significant advantage in scaling the robotaxi business. Tesla's use of camera-centric technology is inherently less expensive than Waymo's combination of cameras, light detection and ranging (Lidar) lasers, and high-definition maps. Every Tesla car (robotaxi or not) on the road is effectively a data gatherer, with the data used to improve the AI that powers its AI models. As such, even though Waymo was first, Tesla has significantly more data than Waymo. Which is the better EV stock? Waymo may become profitable in the future, particularly if Lidar costs continue to drop. However, it's challenging to think that it will be a strong competitor to Tesla, provided Musk's company can master safe, unsupervised FSD using a camera-centric approach. That's a big "if" at this stage, but it becomes a smaller "if" as time goes by and Tesla expands its nascent robotaxi offering across new geographies. Tesla's next robotaxi launch is expected to be in Phoenix, as it plans to continue slowly building its robotaxi business. I think Tesla is the better EV stock when comparing Tesla and Alphabet.
