"Sanatanis will vote only for candidates who support cow protection": Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj
Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 28 (ANI): Ahead of the upcoming Bihar elections, Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj on Saturday stated that the Sanatanis (followers of Sanatan Dharma) have decided to vote only for parties or candidates who stand for the protection and welfare of cows.
'Be it any election, we, the Sanatanis, have decided that we will vote for only that party or candidate who will stand for the cow. But no party stands for cows. So, instead of voting for any particular party, we'll vote for only that candidate who will stand for cows. We will do the same in the Bihar elections too. We have said that one candidate per Assembly constituency will stand for cows and we will issue a list too...' Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj said.
Speaking about the placement of boards on shops during the Kanwar Yatra, the Shankaracharya expressed his views on the religious significance of such practices. He emphasised that any individual willing to follow the dharma and take 'diksha' (initiation) for rituals should be allowed to undertake the Kanwar Yatra.
He also addressed concerns about the practice of selling raw materials during the yatra, stating that, as per 'dharma shashtra', the purchase of raw materials is not considered unholy.
'We were asked our views on putting up boards (mentioning details of shopkeeper/staff) on shops during Kanwar Yatra last year...I said that if you ask me from a religious point of view, I would like to say that any individual who is willing to follow dharma, who takes 'diksha' for any ritual that they would undertake the Kanwar Yatra, they adopt some rules - that they would go barefoot, consume just fruits, have just one meal a day, wear just a particular set of clothes, follow celibacy, not lie and so on. There is a rule for sacred food too, which says that there is no provision for buying cooked food in Sanatan Dharma; this is a Western culture where we buy cooked food. In our culture, cooked food is neither sold nor purchased. Raw material can be bought and sold. Purchasing raw material from anyone has not been considered unholy in our 'dharma shastra',' he added.
Meanwhile, Bihar elections are expected to be held later this year in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced an official date.
Months ahead of the elections, the battle has been intensifying between the grand alliance, Mahagathbandhan, led by the RJD and Congress, and the ruling NDA, which includes the BJP, JDU, LJP (Ram Vilas), and HAM. (ANI)

Speaking aboard the ISS, Group Captain Shukla also said that it looks from space that no borders exist on Earth. 'The first view was of the Earth and after seeing the Earth from outside, the first thought and the first thing that came to mind was that the Earth looks completely one, no border is visible from outside. When we see the Earth from outside, it seems that no border exists, no state exists, no countries exist. We all are part of humanity, and the Earth is our one home, and all of us are in it,' he said. Group Captain Shukla, who is the second Indian to reach Space, said he feels very proud as India has reached the International Space Station and it is a collective achievement of the country. He said he is feeling very emotional and happy after conversation with PM Modi. He urged youth to work hard, never stop trying and said 'the sky is never the limit'. 'I am feeling very emotional and happy after having a conversation with you and 140 crore Indians. I feel very proud as India has reached the International Space Station...I have learnt a lot in the entire journey. This is a collective achievement of the whole nation...I want to send a message to the younger generation that if you work hard, the future of the nation will be good. The sky is never the limit,' Group Captain Shukla said. 'The message I would like to give our young generation is that India has seen very bold and high dreams and to fulfil those dreams, we need all of you. There is no single way to success, but one thing that is common in every path is that you should never stop trying. If you adopt this basic mantra, then success may come today or tomorrow, but it will definitely come,' he added. With India's first human Space mission 'Gaganyaan' programme having entered its final phase, Shubhanshu Shukla said he is absorbing all the lessons and experience like a sponge. 'I am confident that these lessons will be highly valuable for us and that we will apply them effectively in the coming missions,' he said, with the Tricolour prominently placed in the ISS. We will also see if these supplements can be beneficial for older people on Earth as well,' he said. PM Modi asked him about the conditions in space and how he is adapting to it., 'Everything is different here. We trained for a year and I learnt about different after coming here, everything even small things are different because there is no gravity in here is a big takes some time to get used to this environment,' Group Captain Shukla said. You're pushed back into the seat--and then suddenly, there's silence. You're just floating in the vacuum, and it's magical,' he said. He expressed gratitude to the mission team, calling the experience a 'collective achievement'. 'I truly appreciate the efforts of every individual who made this journey possible. It's not just a personal accomplishment - it belongs to all of us,' he added. Axiom 4 mission aboard the Dragon spacecraft successfully docked at the ISS on Thursday, ahead of schedule, autonomously docking at 4:05 pm (IST) to the space-facing port of the space station's Harmony module. Former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, ESA (European Space Agency) astronauts Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski of Poland and Tibor Kapu of Hungary were part of the crew for the Axiom 4 mission. After his arrival at the ISS, Group Captain Shukla called it a 'privilege' to become the 634th human in space and the first Indian to enter the ISS, saying the experience of seeing Earth from such a vantage point was 'wonderful.' After receiving his official astronaut pin from Ax-4 Mission Commander Peggy Whitson, Shukla said, 'I am no 634, that's a privilege.' 'To be fair, it is a privilege to be amongst the few who have got the chance to see the Earth from a vantage point that I have been able to see now. It has been a wonderful ride. I was looking forward to coming to space--it is something to look forward. But the moment I entered the ISS, I felt welcomed. You (Expedition 73 crew) guys literally opened up your doors like your house doors for us, that was fantastic. The expectations I had were surpassed, so thank you so much; this was fantastic. I am confident the next 14 days are going to be amazing doing science and research,' said Shukla in his 'arrival remarks' after entering the ISS. 'I have a small message for my countrymen: It is because of your love and 'The Tricolour I bear on my shoulder makes me feel as though the entire country is with me. I believe the next 14 days are going to be truly interesting,' he added. The astronauts plan to spend about two weeks aboard the orbiting laboratory, conducting a mission comprised of science, outreach, and commercial activities. Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel visits Khavda Renewable Energy Park, reviews ongoing work
Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], June 28 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Saturday visited the site of the world's largest upcoming Hybrid Renewable Energy (RE) Park near Khavda and held a review meeting with representatives from various companies. On this occasion, he inspected the progress of solar and wind energy generation from the Central Control Room, reviewed the ongoing work with officials, and offered guidance to further advance the vision of green energy, said release. To pave the way for a Viksit Gujarat through green growth, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Renewable Energy (RE) Park near Khavda in December 2020. Spread across approximately 800 square kilometres of area, this under-construction park aims to generate 37 gigawatts of 100 per cent eco-friendly electricity by the year 2028. By 2028, the Khavda Renewable Energy Park is expected to supply electricity to approximately 1.85 crore households across the country. On this occasion, Rajendra Mistry, Chief Project Officer of Gujarat Power Corporation Limited, presented an overview of the work completed so far and the ongoing progress at the park. Notably, the Renewable Energy (RE) Park hosts power generation projects from both public and private sector companies, including National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC REL), Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL), Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL), Adani Green Energy Limited, and Sarjan Realities Private Limited. During the visit, several dignitaries and officials were present, including Kutch Collector Anand Patel, Devjibhai Varchand, Ajay Sehgal from National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, Tirth Nath Singh, Project Head of the Adani Group, and Anil Musar, representative of Sarjan Realities Private Limited.
