Time of India4 days ago
Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T
Harish Rao
on Monday alleged that the families of Sigachi blast victims were yet to receive the promised Rs 1 crore ex gratia. The former minister, along with the victims' families, led a rally to the Sangareddy district additional collector's office and spoke to the official about the reasons for the delay in disbursing the compensation to the kin of the victims.
He demanded Rs 50 lakh as compensation for those grievously injured and Rs 25 lakh for others injured. He also submitted a representation on behalf of the victims' families to the additional collector Chandrasekhar Badugu.
Later, addressing the media, Harish Rao said that although the company announced it would disburse the ex gratia to the victims' kin within 15 days, there was no response from either the firm or the govt.
He said that 14 people were still undergoing treatment in various hospitals, and only Rs 50,000 was paid to each of the injured.

"When there was a similar accident in Anakapally in Andhra Pradesh last August, the compensation was paid to both the families of the deceased and the injured within three days," he recalled.
Harish Rao demanded the govt to hand over the death certificate, panchanama copy, and FIR copy to each of the victims' families and warned that if they did not receive the ex gratia amount, the BRS would stage a dharna at the collectorate in the next couple of days.

Corrupt officials misplace records to evade law: Lokayukta special court

BENGALURU: Corrupt public servants of local bodies are deliberately misplacing original records of the scams they are involved in to escape the clutches of law, stated the special court for Lokayukta cases while rejecting the anticipatory bail petition filed by a former assistant executive engineer (AEE), Karnataka Housing Board (KHB), B Sector, Yelahanka Upanagar in the city. The accused No. 1, Syed Azgar, who was with the KHB Planning Division, has been booked by the Lokayukta police for his alleged involvement in the illegal sale of KHB sites and causing losses of crores of rupees to the exchequer. 'In the recent past, the officials from various local bodies like the KHB have been involved in such illegalities without bearing the minimum responsibilities of their position, existing rules, regulations and the law for their own reasons with the help of mediators, anti-social elements and other stakeholders. Most unfortunate are the acts of corrupt public servants in deliberately misplacing the original records after committing such illegalities (as in this case) so as to escape their criminal liabilities,' said Judge KM Radhakrishna. He said a similar fraud committed in respect of site No. 239, HIG in B Sector strengthens the involvement not only of this accused, but also of other officers from KHB in the scam. The accused, apprehending arrest by the Lokayukta police, contended before the special court that his higher officials, after having misplaced the original record, are attempting to shift the blame upon him. The Lokayukta police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by social worker KS Chandrashekar Azad against Azgar and two others. He alleged that the residential site No.271, MIG, A Sector at Yelahanka Upanagar, was allotted to Satish Harini, the third accused. Azgar, having joined hands with Govindaiah, the second accused, created fake documents with the intention of wrongful gain. Based on those documents, he sold and illegally executed the sale deed of the site on October 23, 2020, in favour of Govindaiah and caused Rs 10 lakh loss to KHB, Azad stated. Opposing bail, the prosecution contended that the material on record exposes the direct involvement of the petitioner along with others and demanded his custodial interrogation.

Who is Christian Coleman? Exploring personal details of Olympic sprinter following his girlfriend Sha'Carri Richardson's arrest

Christian Coleman. Image via: Jewel Samad/AFP via Getty Images As headlines swirl around Sha'Carri Richardson's recent arrest, much attention has turned toward her boyfriend, fellow sprinter Christian Coleman. He has made his status in the sprinting world as a towering figure in American track and field. Coleman's athletic prowess is undeniable. But who is the man at the center of this controversy, and what's the context surrounding the incident that briefly rocked the world of elite sprinting? Who is Sha'Carri Richardson's boyfriend, Christian Coleman? Christian Coleman is one of the fastest sprinters in the United States. The 29-year-old from Atlanta holds the world record in the 60 meters with an eye-watering time of 6.34 seconds, set in 2018. That mark remains untouched. He was also a key part of the U.S. 4x100m relay team that clocked 37.10 seconds in 2019, a national record. Though his name has sometimes flown under the radar compared to his flashier peers, Coleman's speed off the blocks is widely regarded as the best in the sport. In the current 2025 season, he ran 10.06 in the 100m, not his personal best, but still enough to place him among the top-tier sprinters globally, currently ranked 11th in the world. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Libas Purple Days Sale Libas Undo His 100m PR is 9.76 seconds, which places him firmly in the all-time elite. But recent headlines haven't focused on lane times or podium finishes. They've centered on something personal, even involving him. Christian Coleman's girlfriend, Sha'Carri Richardson, arrested after airport altercation Sha'Carri Richardson, the reigning 100m world champion and Olympic gold medalist in the 4x100m relay, was arrested on Sunday at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. According to a police report, the 25-year-old got into an argument with Coleman, whom she's been dating for two years. The officer claimed that surveillance footage showed Richardson shoving Coleman multiple times and throwing what appeared to be headphones as he attempted to walk away. The altercation was labeled a fourth-degree domestic violence assault, but the case was quickly cleared. Coleman reportedly refused to press charges and 'declined to be a victim.' Despite the dramatic turn of events, both athletes were back on the track within days. Richardson posted her season-best time of 11.07 in the 100m prelims, while Coleman ran 10.08 in his heat. Though Richardson later withdrew from the 100m final — for which she already holds a bye into the World Championships — she has decided to run the 200m after initially saying she wouldn't. In an interview after her heat, Richardson seemed unfazed. 'Right now I'm cruising under the radar,' she said. 'But when it's time to hit — it's gonna be a bang where y'all see my name.' Acting on a tip-off, CCB officials intercepted two cars near Mathadakere in Kantavar Cross, located in Beluvai village of Moodbidri taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, on Thursday. The contraband was reportedly being smuggled across state borders, they said. The arrested individuals have been identified as Masood M K (45), Mohammed Ashiq (24), and Subair (30), all residents of Kasaragod district in Kerala, officials added. In addition to the cannabis, officials also seized two vehicles—one registered in Karnataka and the other in Kerala—and five mobile phones. A case has been registered at the Moodbidri police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
