Cameron Norrie reaches fourth round at Wimbledon
Jack Draper's surprise second-round loss on Thursday to former finalist Marin Cilic left Norrie as the last British man standing in SW19.
To the delight of the Court One crowd, the 2022 semi-finalist delivered, recovering from a slow start to win 7-6 (5) 6-4 6-3.
Norrie will taken on either Brazilian teenage sensation Joao Fonseca or Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry next, with two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz a potential quarter-final opponent.
The 29-year-old has dipped below the radar since his exploits of three years ago, plummeting from a career-high ranking of eighth to 61st – via a spell at 91st – and slipping below Draper and Jacob Fearnley in the British pecking order.
He gave a reminder of his talents by sweeping past 12th seed Frances Tiafoe in round two and this – on paper, at least – looked to be a more straightforward assignment.
Yet Norrie was on the backfoot in the early stages against a fellow left-hander who scalped Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas early this year and came out all guns blazing.
Bellucci broke to love in the opening game and then fought back from 40-0 down to hold in game two, while his 16 first-set winners included an outrageous forehand around the side of the net off the Briton's serve. Norrie eventually broke to love to level at 4-4 before a stunning backhand helped settle a tense tie-break in his favour.
Bellucci took a set off Draper in the first round of this year's French Open before fading.
Following his bright start, the 24-year-old looked set to suffer a similar fate after failing to hold at the start of the second set but he soon broke back from 40-0 down.
However, Norrie regained the initiative in game seven before sealing the set with an ace and then easing through the decider to progress in two hours and 28 minutes.

Palmer knows a thing or two about being in the spotlight and is clearly relishing joining up with Estevao who caught the eye with a wonder goal. It had everyone in the stadium open-mouthed with a brilliant piece of skill as the ball crashed in off the crossbar. But Chelsea came through in the end and have now got another Brazilian opponent in the MetLife Stadium, having now knocked out Palmeiras and they lost to Flamengo in the Group stage. There is no doubt that Chelsea are growing in confidence and stature in this tournament and will now be favourites to reach the final as they are in the easier half of the draw. But Palmer says they are growing in confidence and belief as they come through the tournament and now genuinely believe they can win it. He said: 'I feel like the Brazilian teams are more physical, more rough. We know they're a good team, so it's difficult to play against them. But if we match them, I think we can show our quality, and that's what we did. 'We've played two already now, two very good teams, so it's going to be another tough game. Obviously it's good to be the last English team and hopefully we can win it. 'I think we're getting used to being here. The climate is obviously a big thing, and the pitches. So the more the tournament's gone on, the better we've got. 'Every game is tough, no matter who you play. Obviously, everyone's here for a reason. We also have a set-piece coach and he's trying to give us different ideas and stuff. I think it's working.' Palmer also paid a glowing tribute to Joao Pedro as Chelsea's new £60m signing came on for his debut and helped change the quarter final in their favour. Pedro looked sharp and made a difference. Palmer gave Chelsea the lead, Estevao equalised but it was Malo Gusto's cross which was deflected in for the decisive own goal to seal the win. Palmer added: 'I think he did very well. I think he changed the game for us. Obviously, he's been on holiday in Brazil and we didn't know what to expect from in terms of match sharpness and them things. 'But I think he changed the game. Noni Madueke and Joao, obviously, were really good and made a difference.'

George Ford hails England's second-half showing in impressive win over Argentina
Ford marked his 100th appearance for England with a 15-point haul in La Plata as he pulled the strings for Steve Borthwick's makeshift line-up. Without several players due to British and Irish Lions commitments, Ford and fellow co-captain Jamie George stepped up to help England through a difficult first half, in which they were temporarily reduced to 13 men, before they attacked with aplomb after the break. Max Verstappen spoils the British party by taking pole at Silverstone
Verstappen did not look to be in the hunt for first place, but he pulled a brilliant lap out of the bag to beat Piastri by 0.103 seconds with Norris third, 0.118 seconds adrift. George Russell took fourth for Mercedes, one place ahead of Lewis Hamilton, who had dared to dream of a first pole position for Ferrari, but ended up two tenths off the pace. Charles Leclerc qualified sixth in the other Ferrari. Verstappen was only fourth after the opening runs in Q3 at a gusty and overcast Silverstone, and complained his Red Bull was difficult to drive. However, when it mattered most the four-time world champion came from nowhere to take top spot – his first pole since Miami at the beginning of May. 'Simply lovely,' he said over the radio and then added: 'That final lap was good enough. This is a proper track in qualifying where you have to go flat out. 'It is a big boost for the team as well and excited to go racing tomorrow. We are going to go racing, we will do the best we can.' Norris said: 'Not the top but still a good day. It's going to be fun tomorrow, a good battle. It's going to be an interesting Sunday so I'm looking forward to it.' Hamilton is the King of Silverstone, winning a record nine times and finishing on the podium in all of his last 11 appearances here. He heads into Sunday's British Grand Prix without a top-three finish to his name in Ferrari colours but that could change following a strong performance – out-qualifying Leclerc for just the fourth time this year – although he might feel disappointed not to be nearer the front after heading into the final runs in Q3 in second. British rookie Ollie Bearman will line up from 18th for his first home race after he was served with a 10-place grid penalty for crashing in the pit-lane. Bearman was also sanctioned with four penalty points after he entered the pits at 160mph during a red-flag period in the final practice session. The punishment leaves Bearman, who actually qualified an impressive eighth, on just eight points from the first 12 rounds of his career, leaving him only four away from a race ban. Q1 was suspended for 10 minutes after Franco Colapinto spun at the final corner. Colapinto hit the kerb sending him sideways and through the gravel and then gently into the wall. The Argentine was able to limp out of the sand trap but the running was red-flagged following repairs to the barriers.
