Procter & Gamble replaces CEO Moeller with COO and long-time executive Jejurikar
Moeller will become executive chairman and "provide advice and counsel to the CEO on company matters," P&G said in a statement on Monday, a day before it was scheduled to report its quarterly results.
The company did not disclose the reason for the change in leadership in its statement, but P&G chief communications officer Damon Jones told Reuters Moeller's departure was part of a planned and orderly transition made by the board. There were no health concerns leading to Moeller's departure, he said.
The Cincinnati, Ohio-based company has a history of relatively short CEO terms, dating back to the mid-1990s.
Moeller's predecessor David Taylor was CEO for six years, two of which were during the COVID pandemic when consumer goods companies faced product shortages and supply chain snags. Taylor then served as executive chairman of the board.
Under Moeller, the company navigated a post-pandemic sales boom, as well as rising expenses and sticky inflation. P&G shares gained roughly 13% during his four-year tenure, in line with the S&P 500 index.
The company, which makes Pampers diapers and Head & Shoulders shampoo, in April warned of higher product prices due to an increase in input costs from the trade war at a time of weakening consumer spending. Its stock is down about 6% so far this year.
In June, the company said it would cut 7,000 jobs over the next two years and exit some product categories and brands in certain markets, including some potential divestitures, as part of a broader two-year restructuring plan.
"It might not mean much to the outlook since they're promoting from within," said Brian Jacobsen, chief economist at Annex Wealth Management, which holds P&G shares. "This could be more like the passing of the baton in a long race rather than shaking things up."
Jejurikar's appointment, effective January 1, 2026, keeps up with P&G's preference for naming internal candidates for the top job. Moeller had also risen through the ranks before becoming the COO and then CEO of the company.
The board has nominated Jejurikar as a director at the annual shareholder meeting in October 2025.
Jejurikar has held roles across multiple P&G businesses, including Health & Beauty Care and P&G Professional. Prior to his current role, he was the head of P&G's Fabric & Home Care, which includes brands such as Tide, Ariel and Downy.

WNBA possibly headed to Boson with Sun sale: Everything we know so far
The WNBA may be headed to Boston sooner than expected. A deal has been reached between a group led by Boston Celtics minority owner Steve Pagliuca and the Mohegan Tribe to buy the Connecticut Sun and move the team to TD Garden by 2027, per the Boston Globe. The purchase would be for $325 million, a record for a women's professional sports franchise, per the Globe. A $100 million practice facility in Boston is reportedly in the works if the deal goes through. "The Boston group is targeting a 2027 move and would potentially play early season games in Providence to avoid any conflict with Bruins and Celtics playoff games," the Globe's Gary Washburn reported. The Sun has played games at TD Garden in the past, including one against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in July. The possible sale would give one of America's biggest cities a WNBA franchise sooner than expansion sites like Philadelphia, Cleveland and Detroit. However, the sale is pending WNBA approval, and that could get tricky per a key detail in the Globe's report. What could hold up the Boston sale? According to Washburn, the WNBA could eye Boston as a possible expansion site in 2033. That might complicate the sale, but it's also possible the league and its governors go ahead and approve this transaction. The Celtics are reportedly agreeable to the Sun moving into TD Garden, per Washburn. Will the team stay the Sun if the sale is approved? That detail is not yet known, as a potential rebranding is always possible. However, the Boston Sun has a nice ring to it. Could the WNBA force the Sun to stay in Connecticut? It's apparently possible, per Washburn. "A WNBA source said if the league forces the Mohegan Tribe to sell to a Connecticut-based buyer to [keep] the team in the state, which it has the power to do, Mohegan will cooperate, but the Tribe's choice is to sell to the Boston-based group," he wrote. "That source said the Tribe has determined selling the franchise would be the most financially lucrative, and it could then concentrate on running its casino and hotel." What are the problems with the Sun staying where they are? Well, Washburn outlined some of the biggest challenges the Sun faces by staying where the team is. "Mohegan Sun Arena is the league's fourth-smallest venue and the Sun lack a dedicated practice facility, instead conducting workouts at the gym inside the Tribe's community and government center," he wrote. "Often, the Sun are forced to share space with summer camps and other local events." That can lead to a lack of interest for WNBA free agents and dissatisfaction with rostered players. Where will the Sun play in 2026? The team will remain in Connecticut at Mohegan Sun Arena, no matter what happens with this possible sale.

Some strategists see a stock-market bubble brewing — and it's not the Magnificent 7's fault this time
Stock valuations are rising. Rather than the Mag Seven, look at the "Terrific 20." The Terrific 20 stocks includes diverse sectors, indicating a broadening market beyond Big Tech. But some warn of "speculative fervor," given that price multiples, not earnings, are on the rise. Stock valuations are getting frothy again, but this time, it's not all Big Tech's fault. Yes, valuations of the Magnificent Seven stocks — Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Alphabet, Nvidia, and Tesla — are back up after since bottoming in April. Yet, the group's 12-month forward price-to-earnings ratio is still down from mid-2024, mid-2023, and 2020 levels. Meanwhile, forward PE ratios on the next 20 stocks in the S&P 500 continue to surge, topping levels seen earlier this year. Their valuations are also higher than at any point over the last decade. Arun Sai, a senior multi-asset strategist at Pictet Asset Management, calls the group the "Terrific 20." Some may see the rising forward expectations for a widening number of stocks as a sign of health, as the rally extends beyond just the most popular stocks. But when stocks rise because of multiple expansion instead of earnings growth, it may be a sign that investor sentiment is becoming overheated. "These companies span a broad set of sectors more closely tied to the real economy, including financials, energy, industrials, consumer, and legacy tech," Sai wrote on Tuesday. "Names like Broadcom, Walmart, JPMorgan, Berkshire Hathaway, Visa, and GE Aerospace now account for ~17% of the MSCI US index, compared to 33% for the Mag 7." "Broader participation is a positive — when it's driven by earnings," he continued. "But when more of the market gets expensive, the narrative that 'US equities aren't overpriced, just a few exceptional companies are' becomes harder to justify." Sai compared the current environment to the so-called "Nifty Fifty" bubble in the 1960s. Richard Bernstein, the founder of Richard Bernstein Advisors and former chief investment strategist at Merrill Lynch, said in June that there are parallels to another famous episode of euphoria—the dot-com bubble of 2000—as the market seems solely focused on an emerging technology. On Wednesday, Bernstein reiterated his skepticism of the rally, noting that the market is still relatively concentrated even if valuations are surging among more than just the top seven stocks. Trading of leveraged ETFs, zero-day options, and low dollar-value stocks is also picking back up, signs of excess optimism, he said. "If you're a trader, I think you should take a deep breath and kind of look at what's going on and realize that everybody's in this huge speculative fervor," Bernstein told Business Insider. "But if you're an investor and you want to be a little patient, I don't think it gets much better than this." "The reckless abandon is going to leave you with so many opportunities," he continued. "It's going to be like post-2000." Most Wall Street strategists don't see a dramatic pullback ahead, and few have made direct comparisons to prior bubble episodes. In recent days, however, some have extended quiet warnings to investors about the market's near-term direction. Ulrike Hoffmann-Burchardi, CIO Americas and global head of equities at UBS Global Wealth Management, said in a note on Tuesday that "investors should be mindful of potential market swings in the coming weeks," and that "capital preservation or phasing-in strategies can be effective in navigating near-term volatility." While valuations are no doubt extended, there's no guarantee a major market top is near, and the AI trade may have room to run as the technology evolves. Meta and Microsoft, for example, reported strong earnings beats this week and gave positive forward guidance, causing shares to soar.
