Austin Butler's "Caught Stealing" Sets 2025 Release, "Insidious 6" Pushed Back to August 2026
Yara Sameh
Sony Pictures Sony has given the August 29 release date originally set for 'Insidious 6″ to the Darren Aronofsky-directed "Caught Stealing", starring Austin Butler.
The next 'Insidious' entry has been pushed nearly a year, to August 21, 2026.
The next installment of the Blumhouse Productions horror property, co-produced by Screen Gems, was confirmed to be in the works in May 2024.
No further details were shared at the time.
The latest 'Insidious' film, 'The Red Door,' saw series star Patrick Wilson return and also make his feature directorial debut.
It was released July 7, 2023, and grossed $189 million worldwide against a $16 million budget.
The incoming entry is different from 'Thread: An Insidious Tale,' an in-universe series spin-off that was first announced in May 2023 and is said to star Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani, with Jeremy Slater attached to write and direct.
Barring no other 'Insidious' installments releasing before this newly announced one, this would mark the sixth entry in the horror franchise and the first since 'Insidious: The Red Door,'.
Since launching in 2010 with director James Wan, the 'Insidious' franchise has collectively grossed more than $730 million globally.
While the franchise has played musical chairs over the years with distributors, moving from FilmDistrict to Focus Features to Universal to Sony, Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions has been behind every installment, co-producing with various other production banners.
Screen Gems returns for the newly announced feature entry after joining 'Insidious: The Red Door.'
Ahead of the release of 'The Red Door,' Blum gave an interview with DiscussingFilm in which he teased a lengthy hiatus for the franchise, saying that that fifth entry 'Is going to be the last we're going to see of 'Insidious' for a while' and that 'It may not be a forever rest, but it's certainly going to be a very long rest. … There's not a plan — as there has been with every prior 'Insidious' movie — there's no current plan in place for number six.'
In the release moves, Sony also announced that an untitled Marvel film, originally set for a June 27 premiere, has been removed from the release calendar.
The decision comes after their 'Spider-Man' spinoff 'Kraven the Hunter' bombed.
It was released on December 12 and grossed $61 million worldwide against a budget north of $110 million.

Blumhouse Acquires 50% Rights to "SAW"
Yara Sameh Blumhouse, the maker of horror hits like 'Insidious' and 'Five Nights at Freddy's,' has acquired the rights to all future 'Saw' movies, shows, and other properties featuring the murderous Jigsaw. The company paid an undisclosed amount for the part of the franchise currently owned by producers Oren Koules and Mark Burg. In statements, Koules said it felt like 'the right time to pass the baton,' while Burg said he wanted to 'move on and tell new stories.' Lionsgate, which has released all 10 films in the series to the tune of more than $1 billion at the global box office, will continue to be a partner in the property. It will also owned its existing 50% ownership stake in and distribution of future installments. With the deal, the franchise makes its way back to James Wan, who directed the original, blood-soaked 'Saw' in 2004. Wan's Atomic Monster label merged with Blumhouse in 2024. The company's list of films includes 'Get Out,' 'The Purge,' 'M3GAN' and 'Annabelle.' Jason Blum, founder of Blumhouse, said that 'Saw' had 'defined a generation of horror.' 'Its cultural impact continues to grow, making this a strategic investment in one of the most recognizable and successful genre properties of the last two decades,' Blum added. The Blumhouse CEO said that Wan and Leigh Whannell, writer of the first film, will be brought 'back in the fold' and will help guide the future of the franchise. ''Saw' holds a special place in my heart,' Wan said, adding, 'coming back to this world with a fresh perspective is both thrilling and deeply personal. For me, this will mark a significant creative return to the 'Saw' franchise for the first time since the early days, and I'm very much looking forward to embracing the original spirit whilst pushing the legacy forward in bold, unexpected ways.' "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" Gets Production Update
Yara Sameh Tom Holland's fourth Spider-Man entry, "Brand New Day", is in pre-production at the UK's Pinewood Studios for Sony and Marvel. The movie will begin shooting in August with location shooting reportedly taking place in Glasgow, according to The Herald. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the movie with Amy Pascal producing alongside Marvel president Kevin Feige. Holland returns as the teenaged, web-slinging Avenger with Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned. Sadie Sink and Liza Colon-Zayas are attached to star in the pic. Plot details on the fourth 'Spider-Man' installment haven't been revealed. In the third entry, 2021's 'Spider-Man: No Way Home,' Peter Parker accidentally breaks open the multiverse and allows for two prior Spider-Men, Tobey MaGuire and Andrew Garfield, to all appear in the same reality. This causes more than a few problems — for Peter-One and the universe at large. The movie concluded with Holland's version of the character making the difficult decision to erase his identity from the world, leaving his girlfriend MJ and best friend Ned to forget he exists. "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has earned over $1.9bn since its release in December 2021, making it one of the highest-grossing films of all time. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" marks the second Spider-Man film to shoot in the UK, following 2019's "Spider-Man: Far From Home", while 2021's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and 2017's "Spider-Man: Homecoming" both shot in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. Sony has set July 31, 2026, as the release date for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day". Marvel's "Avengers: Doomsday" is also currently filming in the UK, to be distributed worldwide by Disney. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand
