We found the best prices on ‘Wizard of Oz' Sphere Las Vegas tickets
Vivid Seats is the New York Post's official ticketing partner. We may receive revenue from this partnership for sharing this content and/or when you make a purchase. Featured pricing is subject to change. We finally found where 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' is. Starting Thursday, Aug. 28, Las Vegas Sphere will host larger-than-life, wraparound screenings of the iconic 1939 film 'The Wizard of Oz.' At each and every show, crowds will be whisked to a 360° version of Dorothy and Toto's tumbleweed Kansas hometown with Uncle Henry and Aunty Em's humble farm crowding the 160,000 sq. foot and 16K resolution screen. Then, one earth-shaking tornado later, you'll end up in Oz's candy-colored Munchkinland, plucky poppy fields and majestic Emerald City. To top it all off, vibrating haptic seats, environmental effects and custom scents will add to the surreal, immersive experience. 'Imagine what it would be like to be in a tornado in the Sphere where you've got wind coming at you, you've got scents coming at you, you've got leaves coming at you, your hair is flying all over, you feel as though you are in that tornado with Dorothy, and that's what it's all about,' Sphere President Jennifer Koester told The Hollywood Reporter. 'You're not going to watch a movie, you are going to live a movie. You're going to feel it, see it, touch it, smell it.' And, yes, there will be flying monkeys. Oh, boy, will there ever be flying monkeys. In the event you'd like to attend, tickets are available for over 400 (!) 'Wizard of Oz' showings from opening day up until Dec. 19. At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on tickets for any one show was $135 including fees on Vivid Seats. Want to take the Yellow Brick Road to 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow'? You're in the right place, Ozmapolitans. For more information, our team has everything you need to know and more about Las Vegas Sphere's one-of-a-kind 'Wizard of Oz' show below. Other 2025 shows at Las Vegas Sphere When Dorothy, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and Scarecrow aren't traipsing down the Yellow Brick Road, many other exciting shows will take the reins at Vegas' premier entertainment destination. Here's what's up next at the one-of-a-kind venue. Sphere shows 'Postcard From Earth' Runs indefinitely Academy Award-nominated director Darren Aronofsky's ambitious, immersive, globetrotting film. 'V-U2' Runs indefinitely A look back at U2's groundbreaking Sphere residency. Backstreet Boys July 18 through Aug. 24 The boy band revisits their beloved 'Millennium' album. The Eagles Sept. 5 through Nov. 8 The classic rockers take a trip down memory lane and play their greatest hits. Wondering if a touring version of the show is headed to a theater near you? Check out 'Wicked's' complete schedule here. 'Wizard of Oz' at Sphere promotions Ahead of the premiere, the fine folks at Sphere have gone above and beyond building intrigue for the soon-to-be game-changing reimagining of the 1939 film. First, in tandem with the announcement of the screening series, Sphere had massive, 22-foot ruby red slippers jut out from under the massive venue. More recently, they've advertised the terrifying flying monkeys by having them flutter outside the orb. Even watching on Instagram will stop you right in your tracks. Personally, we're partial to their spellbinding video set to Judy Garland's gorgeous rendition of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow.' Try watching without tearing up. We dare you. Plus, these days, the Venetian Casino is hosting a free and open to the public installation that 'celebrates the classic film in a modern way.' Of course, fans that have followed the making of this groundbreaking show are likely aware of the AI controversy surrounding the production. Obviously, adapting a 4:3 film to a canvas as wide as Sphere's would mean taking some creative 'ethical' liberties. 'The Sphere team, with the aid of Warner Bros., found props and set designs from the original movie so objects such as photos on the wall in Professor Marvel's caravan could be generated onto the screen,' USA Today reported. 'We're trying to be tasteful with these things,' Award-winning technician Glenn Derry told the publication, about incorporating 4D effects. 'I don't want to distract from the film because it's one of the great masterpieces. You want people to be part of it, but balance that with not being distracting.' Huge Las Vegas residencies Curious what other spectacular shows are going down in the Entertainment Capital of the World these next few months? In that case, here are just five of the biggest biggies you won't want to miss IRL in the near future. • Bruno Mars (Aug. 22 through Sept. 6) • Janet Jackson (Sept. 10-20) • Alanis Morissette (Oct. 15 through Nov. 2) • Dolly Parton (Dec. 4-13) • Jennifer Lopez (Dec. 30, 2025 through March 28, 2026) Not going to Las Vegas anytime soon? Cynthia Erivo Promises She'll Be ‘Having a Good Time' with Her 'Wicked: For Good' Press Tour Looks (Exclusive)
"Everything was really thought out, and that's the way we always are," Erivo says of how she and stylist Jason Bolden plan her looksNEED TO KNOW Cynthia Erivo expects she'll be "having a good time" with her Wicked: For Good press tour looks The actress spoke with PEOPLE about the great work her style team does, especially most recently at the 2025 Tony Awards "Everything was really thought out, and that's the way we always are," Erivo says of working with her stylist, Jason BoldenCynthia Erivo is looking ahead to Wicked: For Good — and to her press tour style. After Erivo channeled her character Elphaba throughout the Wicked press tour in 2024, fans and fashion aficionados have been eagerly anticipating her looks for herWicked: For Good appearances. Speaking with PEOPLE for her partnership with Listerine, Erivo praised her style team's dedication to each elaborate ensemble and hinted at what to expect in the upcoming press run. Erivo tells PEOPLE her style team, spearheaded by stylist Jason Bolden, is very dear to her, and she's constantly impressed by the looks they create. "I mean, they're my family currently," she says, joking, "They had to see me coming because we are busy all the time. We keep each other busy. And these last few months have been really wonderful." A major undertaking for her style team, she says, was the Tony Awards on June 8. Erivo hosted the event and sported a total of 10 outfits throughout the night, each paying homage to a nominated play. Erivo's red and white glittery gown by Zac Posen was a tribute to Annie, while her black Richard Quinn ensemble — featuring long black gloves and a diamond necklace — was in line with the Hamilton reunion, in which all the actors wore black. Her final look, a bold purple dress by Paul Tazewell, paid homage to The Color Purple and Death Becomes Her. The actress tells PEOPLE each look was "very detailed" and "very intentional" — and fans should expect no less from her upcoming Wicked: For Good outfits. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. "Everything was really thought out, and that's the way we always are," Erivo says of her style team. "We're very picky, selective about what we put on and what we're wearing, and the story we're telling." She adds, "And more than anything we try and have a really good time doing it. If it doesn't feel good to wear, we're not wearing it. And if I love it and it feels good, then I'll be wearing it. And it can be as avant-garde or as classic as it wants to be, as long as we know what story we're telling, and it feels good to tell that story, then I'll be in it. We have a good time. And hopefully, we'll be having a good time this time round as well." Read the original article on People
