MBZUAI NextGen Summer Program empowers future generations of advanced technology leaders

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) has launched its NextGen Summer Program, a week-long initiative designed to introduce high school students in Grades 10–12 to the fast-evolving world of artificial intelligence, innovation, and emerging technologies.Hosted at the MBZUAI campus in Abu Dhabi, the immersive programme brings together 38 high-performing students from across the UAE, for hands-on workshops and expert-led sessions. The students were selected from more than 150 applications, highlighting the programme's competitiveness. They will collaborate on projects requiring real-world AI applications in sectors such as healthcare, mobility, climate, and the creative industries.What sets the programme apart is its strong focus on real-world relevance. Under the guidance of MBZUAI faculty and industry mentors, students will use platforms like Python, Google Colab, and Kaggle to work with real datasets and explore how AI models are designed, tested, and evaluated. Sessions on AI ethics, bias, and future career paths will reinforce the importance of using technology thoughtfully and with awareness of their broader societal impact.Rawdha AlMeraikhi, Director of Outreach at MBZUAI, said: "We designed NextGen to spark curiosity, build skills, and give students a realistic glimpse into the future of AI, not just as a technology, but as a tool to create meaningful change. It's a unique opportunity for students to build confidence, explore their potential in one of the world's most impactful fields, and potentially become the next MBZUAI students and future leaders in AI.'
The programme supports the UAE's broader vision to build national capabilities in advanced technology, in alignment with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, which aims to position the country as a global leader in AI innovation and adoption. It also aligns with Abu Dhabi's ambition to become the world's first fully AI-native government by 2027.

An Opportunity for Youth in Entrepreneurship', the circle saw the attendance of key decision-makers, government officials, and young Emirati entrepreneurs working in the agricultural circle was attended by Dr Sultan Bin Saif Al Neyadi, UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority; Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis); and Moaza Al Nasri, Chief Executive Officer of the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development. The attendees expressed their support for youth participation in further advancing the agricultural sector, and strengthening sustainability circle highlighted agriculture as a promising path for youth entrepreneurship, particularly in Al Dhafra region, and featured discussions of real-life experiences of young Emiratis who have successfully launched innovative projects after working in the private sector. Key topics included structural challenges in the agricultural market, and the need for targeted training and financial support to enable youth.A group of Emirati youth shared their inspiring entrepreneurial journeys, underscoring the importance of field experience in understanding the local market and launching projects that contribute to economic development and sustainable initiatives aimed at empowering youth and enhancing their presence in the agricultural sector were announced during the circle. These included the announcement of an agricultural guidebook by the Emirates Youth Council for Agriculture, the designation of dedicated spaces for young entrepreneurs to showcase their products at upcoming agricultural festivals, and providing job opportunities for youth in agricultural fields within the private sector. The event concluded with the Youth Councils extending their gratitude to all participating and supporting entities and reaffirming its commitment to organising future circles that foster meaningful dialogue between youth and decision-makers, paving the way for a more sustainable agricultural future in the UAE. ESG reports strong H1 2025 growth as profit and revenue rise 11%

25 July 2025 20:24 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Emirates Stallions Group, a subsidiary of International Holding Company (IHC) and an ADX-listed company, posted robust results for the first half of 2025, with operational profit before tax increasing by 11% year-on-year to Dh131.77 million, and revenue also climbing 11% to Dh709.99 Group maintained a strong financial position, with shareholders' equity rising 7% since the end of December 2024 to Dh2.674 billion. The book value per share increased to Dh10.70, underlining the company's focus on delivering long-term shareholder value. Total assets as of 30 June stood at Dh3.8 on the performance, Matar Suhail Al Yabhouni Al Dhaheri, Chairman of ESG, said: 'These results reflect our continued positive momentum and reinforce our position as a reliable and forward-looking player across our sectors. 25 July 2025 12:59 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) and Framatome have signed a fuel supply agreement for the supply of nuclear fuel assemblies and engineering services for the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the agreement is a key step in ENEC's long-term strategy to diversify its fuel supply chain, enhancing energy security by ensuring an uninterrupted supply of 24/7 carbon-free power from the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant to businesses, industries and homes across the the agreement, Framatome will supply complete nuclear fuel assemblies for use at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant. Framatome brings decades of experience in nuclear fuel manufacturing and innovation, making it a strategic partner to further strengthen the resilience and flexibility of ENEC's fuel supply chain and ensure the plant's continued excellence in nuclear power Excellency Mohamed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and CEO of ENEC, said:'Our agreement with Framatome advances our strategy to strengthen the security and reliability of our nuclear fuel supply chain. The contract recognises our state-of-the-art technologies and the reliability of our workforce to provide exceptional services to our customers.'The fuel assemblies will be fabricated at Framatome's fabrication facility in the US, which is licensed by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and has received the highest rating from the NRC under its Licensee Performance Review (LPR) for 18 consecutive years. Framatome has more than 40 years extensive experience fabricating fuel for Combustion Engineering design reactors like Barakah and has supplied more than 6,000 fuel assemblies of that type. Barakah remains the region's first multi-unit nuclear energy plant and a global benchmark for successful nuclear new-build programs. ENEC has delivered the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant—comprising four APR-1400 reactors, which are now the region's largest source of clean electricity—in just eight years. ENEC continues to explore strategic opportunities that support the growth of the global civil nuclear sector, while ensuring the plant remains a cornerstone of the UAE's energy mix.
