CAIRO, May 17 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Saturday said that a great importance is attached to the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project that aims to smooth traffic flow on the Ring Road, in accordance with directives of President Abdel Fattah el Sisi to expand the development of sustainable, eco-friendly mass transportation.
Madbouli made the remarks during a tour Saturday to inspect the pilot operation of the first phase of the BRT project, which extends from the intersection of the Ring Road with the Alexandria Agricultural Road to the Police Academy Station.
Later in the day, the premier will head to Al Fustat Gardens development project to follow up its implementation rate.
During his tour of the BRT project, Madbouli is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir, Governor of Cairo Ibrahim Saber Khalil, Qalyubia Governor Ayman Atiya, Head of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges Tarek Abdel Gawad and a host of officials.
Today's tour falls within the framework of the government's efforts to follow up on progress of national and public service projects implemented nationwide, in order to improve the living standards of people, the premier said.
He added that the tour aims to assess readiness of the first phase of the BRT project ahead of its official launch for public use as well as the progress achieved so far in Al Fustat Gardens development project which aims to turn the area into a regional tourist destination. (MENA)

Kuwait's Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, on Monday met with Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, to discuss strengthening cooperation between the two countries. The meeting was also attended by Kuwait's Minister of Public Works and Transport, Noura Al-Mashaan, and the Egyptian ambassador to Kuwait, Osama Shaltout. In a statement, the Egyptian transport ministry said Sheikh Sabah welcomed the Egyptian minister on his visit and praised Egypt's role in supporting various Arab issues and the wisdom of its leadership under President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. The Crown Prince affirmed that the visit reflects the fraternal relationship between Kuwait and Egypt and the keenness of both countries' leadership to increase joint cooperation. He said Kuwait always welcomes Egyptian participation and cooperation in various fields. For his part, El-Wazir conveyed greetings from President Sisi to Kuwait's Emir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and to the Crown Prince. He highlighted the strong and historical positions of the two countries and noted President Sisi's visit to Kuwait in April 2025 and Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly's visit in February 2025. The Egyptian minister said that President Al-Sisi had directed efforts to increase joint cooperation with Kuwait in all fields. He reviewed the developments in the Egyptian economy, Egypt's efforts to improve the investment climate, and the major national projects implemented by the country, particularly in the transport sector. El-Wazir added that a delegation of 17 Egyptian companies specialising in infrastructure and mega-projects, which accompanied him to Kuwait, is interested in cooperating with the Kuwaiti side in implementing development and infrastructure projects planned by the Kuwaiti government. He stressed that they could offer very suitable prices, high-quality standards, and timely execution in line with Kuwaiti priorities. He also pointed to promising investment opportunities in Egypt, especially in seaports, dry ports, and logistic zones, as well as in the industrial sector, which he said could be a strong starting point for joint cooperation.

The directive came during a meeting on Sunday to follow up on efforts to enhance Egypt-U.S. economic ties, according to a cabinet statement. Madbouly stressed the government's interest in bolstering the strategic and historical ties between the two nations and its keenness to overcome any obstacles to joint cooperation. He noted that there are many promising opportunities available for American companies, given the significant incentives the Egyptian government offers to foreign investors. The meeting was attended by the ministers of planning, foreign affairs, and investment, while the minister of industry and transport participated via video conference. Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel al-Wazir, reviewed investment opportunities that have been presented to U.S. companies in sectors including ports, maritime transport, and industrial zones. Minister of Planning and Economic Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, discussed development cooperation with the United States, including projects funded through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib also reviewed their respective ministries' efforts to support bilateral ties, trade, and U.S. investment in Egypt. At the conclusion of the meeting, Madbouly instructed all relevant authorities to coordinate on preparing the set of promising investment opportunities and to follow up on presenting them to American companies to enhance U.S. investments in Egypt.

This came during president Sisi's meeting with Secretary General of the Arab League of Arab Ahmed Abul Gheit. The meeting addressed the latest developments pertinent to Arab crises and issues, mainly the situation in Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as the massive efforts being made by Egypt and Qatar to reach a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, according to Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed el Shennawi. The meeting tackled prospects of pursuing a just and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian cause through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with international legitimacy, the protection of the rights of the Palestinian people and the prevention of their displacement. The meeting also touched on the latest developments in Syria and Libya, in addition to the situation in Sudan and the ongoing efforts to restore security and stability there. The meeting tackled the political and security situations in the Horn of Africa and the security of the Red Sea. For his part, Abul Gheit commended Egypt's wise stances, which contribute to restoring security and stability in the Middle East, especially through its support for a just and final solution to the Palestinian issue, as the only path to achieving lasting and comprehensive peace in the region.
