Why Apple, Tesla, and Google Are Slowing Down the S&P 500 Rally
The S&P 500 (SPY) is up around 6% this year, but its gains could be even higher if three major companies—Apple (AAPL), Alphabet (GOOGL), and Tesla (TSLA) —weren't falling behind. Indeed, Apple has dropped 16% due to tariff worries and slow progress in developing AI features. At the same time, Alphabet is down 6% as investors worry that AI chatbots could reduce the value of its Google Search business, while Tesla has fallen 22% amid slowing demand for electric vehicles. According to Bloomberg, these three stocks alone have pulled the index down by more than 120 points. If they had just stayed flat, the S&P 500 would likely be 2% higher. Interestingly, other big tech stocks in the 'Magnificent Seven' have performed much better in 2025. Microsoft (MSFT), Nvidia (NVDA), and Meta Platforms (META) have each risen by at least 14% due to strong progress in using AI to grow their businesses. Companies like Nvidia have benefited from demand for AI computing hardware, while Meta has used AI to increase ad revenue. Even smaller tech firms like Netflix (NFLX), Broadcom (AVGO), and Palantir (PLTR) have helped lift the market. Overall, the index is near record highs. However, since the Magnificent Seven account for about one-third of the S&P 500, the performance of just a few companies can significantly affect the entire market. While it's encouraging to see a broader range of companies pushing the market higher, experts say that may not be enough to make up for the weakness in Apple, Alphabet, and Tesla. Paul Stanley from Granite Bay Wealth Management notes that the rest of the market would need to be extremely strong to balance out the drag from these giants. Apple's stock has recently ticked up a bit after reports that it might use AI from Anthropic or OpenAI to upgrade Siri, but investors are still waiting for a clearer plan. Without a rebound from these lagging stocks, the S&P 500 could struggle to keep its momentum in the second half of the year. Which Magnificent Seven Stock Is the Better Buy? Turning to Wall Street, out of the Magnificent Seven stocks, analysts think that GOOGL stock has the most room to run. In fact, GOOGL's average price target of $199.77 per share implies more than 12% upside potential. On the other hand, analysts expect the least from TSLA stock, as its average price target of $287.39 equates to a loss of 8.8%.

Apple's (AAPL) India Expansion Hits a Roadblock After Foxconn Pulls 300 Workers
Foxconn, Apple's (AAPL) biggest iPhone manufacturer, has pulled over 300 Chinese engineers and technicians from its Indian production facilities, according to Bloomberg. This could slow down Apple's plans as it gets ready to produce the iPhone 17. Notably, the move comes as tensions rise between the U.S. and China over trade and tariffs, but the reason for the recall remains unclear. Indeed, it opened a new unit in the ESR Industrial Park in Tamil Nadu and invested $2.56 billion in its Devanahalli plant in May. It is worth noting that the plant is expected to make 100,000 iPhones by December and will include dorms for 30,000 workers, most of whom are women. Interestingly, in May 2025, Foxconn shipped nearly $1 billion worth of iPhones from India to the U.S., the second-highest monthly shipment ever, following a record $1.3 billion in March. However, Apple's growing presence in India may face political roadblocks. On May 23, U.S. President Trump threatened a 25% tariff on iPhones sold in the U.S. if they're not made domestically. Nevertheless, India now produces around 20% of the world's iPhones, and Apple had hoped to make most U.S.-bound iPhones there by late 2026. But with a shortage of skilled workers, that goal may now be delayed. Is Apple a Buy or Sell Right Now? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Moderate Buy consensus rating on AAPL stock based on 15 Buys, 10 Holds, and three Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. Furthermore, the average AAPL price target of $224.22 per share implies 6.4% upside potential.

A standout pick is the 2025 Hisense 65-inch QD7 Mini-LED 4K QLED TV on sale for $498. It's the first major discount we've seen on this just-released TV. If you're looking to buy an OLED TV, Amazon has the Samsung 65-inch S85D 4K OLED TV on sale for $1,199. It's a fabulous price on a mid-range OLED TV we fully recommend. These aren't the only 4th of July TV sales worth considering. Below, you'll find our top picks across various price points and screen sizes. In our LG B4 OLED review, we called the Editor's Choice TV the value OLED TV of the year. The 48-inch model is a Best Buy exclusive. The C4 is LG's current flagship OLED TV. It's powered by LG's A9 processor and features a 120Hz panel, Dolby Vision/ HDR10/HLG support, built-in Amazon Alexa, four HDMI 2.1 ports and Apple AirPlay 2 support.
