The introduction of LHB coaches marks a significant upgrade in passenger amenities and operational efficiency for this important route, connecting coastal and tribal regions of Odisha through the State capital Bhubaneswar, the ECoR said.

20 Coach Vande Bharat, 20 Coach Vande Bharat Express Train: Good news for rail passengers! Indian Railways (IR) has raised the coach composition of Patna to Howrah Vande Bharat Express train. Flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 24, 2023, this semi-high-speed train is being operated and maintained by the East Central Railway (ECR) zone. It also becomes the longest Vande Bharat Express train of the zonal railway. Developed by Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF), this 20-coach ultra-modern train has been introduced by replacing the 16-coach Patna to Howrah Vande Bharat Express. Speaking to a senior railway official has confirmed the same. The official added that the coach composition has been increased in view of the demand and for passenger convenience. 'Train number 22348/22347 Patna-Howrah-Patna Vande Bharat Express is running with 20 coaches instead of 16 now,' the official said. The Patna to Howrah Vande Bharat Express train covers a distance of 532 km in 06:35 hrs. The train runs on all days of the week except Wednesday. During its journey between Patna and Howrah, the Vande Bharat Express train stops at eight stations. These are — Patna Saheb, Bakhtiyarpur, Mokama, Luckeesarai, Jasidih, Jamtara, Asansol and Durgapur. Train number 22348 Vande Bharat Express departs from Patna at 08:00 hrs and reached Howrah Junction at 14:35 hrs. On its return journey, train number 22347 leaves Howrah at 15:50 hrs and reaches Patna Junction at 22:40 hrs. The Patna to Howrah Vande Bharat Express train has two types of seating arrangements – AC Chair Car and Executive AC. The ticket price for travelling between Patna and Howrah is Rs 1515 for AC Chair Car and Rs 2735 for Executive Chair Car.

Chikkamagaluru to Tirupati train service launched
Chikkamagaluru: Travelling to Tirupati from Chikkamagaluru became hassle-free as South Western Railway introduced a weekly express train service. Union minister of state for railways and Jal Shakti, V Somanna, flagged off the train service between Chikkamagaluru and Tirupati at Chikkamagaluru railway station on Friday. The new train service aimed to enhance rail connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and the Malnad region of Karnataka. Train No. 17423 Tirupati–Chikkamagaluru Weekly Express will commence its regular service on July 17. The train will departed from Tirupati at 9pm every Thursday and arrive at Chikkamagaluru at 10.30am the following day (Friday). The trains consisted of 18 LHB coaches, including 2 AC two tier, 4 AC three tier, 6 sleeper class, 4 general second class, 1 second class cum luggage and brake van with a compartment for 'divyangjan' (disabled people) and one luggage/generator/brake van coach.

LHB coaches to be deployed soon for three express trains
The Southern Railway has announced that three express trains are to be operated with Linke-Hofmann Busch coaches by replacing the existing conventional rakes. The conversion from conventional rake to LHB coaches is to enhance safety and ensure a comfortable journey for passengers. The Puducherry-Mangaluru Central-Puducherry Express (16855/16856) will run with LHB coaches from Puducherry with effect from July 17 and from Mangaluru Central with effect from July 18. The Puducherry-Mangaluru Central-Puducherry Express (16857/16858) will run with LHB coaches from Puducherry with effect from July 19 and from Mangaluru Central with effect from July 20. The Puducherry-Kanniyakumari-Puducherry Express (16861/16862) will run with LHB coaches from Puducherry from July 20 and from Kanniyakumari from July 21. Consequent to the conversion to LHB coaches, the composition of the three trains will be revised. The trains will be operated with one AC two-tier coach, two AC three-tier coaches, nine sleeper class coaches, four general second class coaches, one second class coach (Divyangjan friendly) and one luggage-cum-brake van, a press release from the Tiruchi Railway Division said.
