Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw, Yoshinobu Yamamoto named NL All-Stars; Yusei Kikuchi to represent Halos
Dodgers starting pitchers Clayton Kershaw and Yoshinobu Yamamoto were named to the National League All-Star Game on Sunday, joining three other Boys in Blue who will be representing the team next week in Atlanta. They'll suit up alongside the NL's leading vote-getter in Shohei Ohtani, first baseman Freddie Freeman and catcher Will Smith, all three of whom were picked by the fans as starters. Katelyn Mulcahy/MLB Photos via Getty Images It's Kershaw's 11th All-Star Game, his first since 2023, and Yamamoto's first-ever selection, though he selected to five Nippon Professional Baseball All-Star Games between 2018 and 2023, before joining the Dodgers. Even though he's only started nine games so far this season, Kershaw made history in his most recent start by securing his 3,000th career strikeout. He sports a 4-0 record with a 3.43 ERA and 32 Ks in just over 44 innings pitched. His selection comes at the hands of MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, who named Kershaw as the 65th All-Star with the "Legend Pick," the first since 2022 when it was used on both Miguel Cabrera and Albert Pujols. Yamamoto, on the other hand, has been the Dodgers most consistent starter. In 17 starts, Yamamoto has 96 and 2/3 innings pitched with 109 strikeouts and a 2.51 ERA. He was one of Major League Baseball's six National League picks. The Dodgers lead the way in All-Star selections with five, followed by the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners, who have four selections each. He is a three-time NPB All-Star, last appearing in the game in 2018, the season before he signed with Seattle out of Japan. Kikuchi was one of MLB's six American League picks, thanks in large part to his strong showing to start the 2025 campaign. In 18 starts, he has a 2.81 ERA and 106 strikeouts. 2025 All-Star Game rosters The 2025 All-Star Game, the 95th in MLB history, is slated to take place on Tuesday, July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Padres right-hander Yu Darvish set to make his season debut Monday night against Arizona
SAN DIEGO (AP) — San Diego Padres right-hander Yu Darvish will be activated from the injured list and make his season debut Monday night at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Japanese star has been sidelined since spring training by right elbow inflammation. 'It really just comes down from a physical standpoint,' manager Mike Shildt said before the Padres finished a series against Texas on Sunday night. 'We always have an open day on the schedule for Yu Darvish to start.' Making a start Monday night will allow Darvish to make another start before the All-Star break. Darvish, who turns 39 on Aug. 16, threw a bullpen session Saturday after throwing two simulated games against minor leaguers in the last two weeks. Darvish missed significant time in 2024 with an elbow injury and a personal issue. He made five starts in September and finished the regular season with a 7-3 record and a 3.31 ERA. He pitched well in two starts against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a National League Division Series, earning the win Game 2 and taking the loss in Game 5. The Padres went from having a 2-1 lead in the series to failing to score in the final 24 innings against the eventual World Series champions. ___ AP MLB:

How To Vote During ‘Love Island USA' Season 7 — And When Voting Opens And Closes
LOVE ISLAND USA — Episode 727 — Pictured: (l-r) Clarke Carraway, Nicolas "Nic" Vansteenberghe, ... More Cierra Ortega, Taylor Williams, Jose "Pepe" Garcia-Gonzalez, Ace Green — (Photo by: Ben Symons/Peacock via Getty Images) Get ready to gather around the firepit — another recoupling, dumping and the fourth vote of Love Island USA Season 7 are going down tonight. With the finale fast approaching and $100,000 on the line, every vote counts more than ever. The first recoupling vote led to the dramatic breakup of Huda and Jeremiah. The second left six Islanders vulnerable, ultimately resulting in the dumping of Hannah and Jeremiah. Last week, a public vote sent five of America's least favorite Islanders packing: Andreina, Austin, Gracyn, Jaden, Taylor and TJ. Now, it's time for viewers to have their say once again. Ahead of Episode 30, there are five couples remaining: Ace and Chelley, Amaya and Zak, Chris and Huda, Cierra and Nic and Clarke and Taylor. Meanwhile, Bryan, Iris, Elan, Olandria and Pepe are single. Amaya is a hot commodity in the villa, based on tonight's first-look teaser, with both Bryan and Elan eager to explore a connection with America's sweetheart. Something could also be brewing between Iris and Pepe, and Zak and Olandria, too. So, who could be getting axed tonight before the public vote? Unfortinately, multiple Islanders could be saying goodbye. 'Any boy that's not in a couple will be leaving the Island tonight,' host Ariana Madix said in Sunday's teaser, likely leaving Amaya to decide the fate of Bryan, Elan and Zak. One Islander who isn't safe from the vote is Cierra, who has come under fire from fans after an old social media post allegedly containing a derogatory slur resurfaced. The controversy follows the removal of another original Season 7 contestant, Yulissa, who was quickly axed from the show after it was revealed she had used a racial slur on podcasts (she later posted an apology). Cierra was also noticeably absent from the first-look teaser for tonight's episode, suggesting that producers may be working behind the scenes to navigate the situation. Here's everything to know about voting on Love Island USA, including what time it starts, how long voting is open and more frequently asked questions.
