" Hindi Hai Hum, Watan Hai Hindustan Hamara": 26/11 Hero Amid Language Row
"The dream of a developed India will only come true when we will walk together with one language. And we say ' Hindi hain hum, watan hai Hindustan hamara (Indians we are, India is our land)'," he told NDTV, in an interview, underlining the theme of oneness.
Maharashtra has been in the spotlight for multiple incidents of targeted violence where the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena or MNS leaders went on a violent spree, singling out Hindi-speaking migrants and thrashing them brutally in public.
"No, I am not angry with anyone. My mind is calm. Your emotions come to your mind when you see a poor person getting beaten up.
And in that Mumbai, the Mumbai that we have considered our heritage, our economic capital, we shed our blood in that Mumbai. We served that Mumbai. And some people who do politics, only for their vote bank," said Mr Teotia.
The former elite commando said he was in Mumbai in 2008 and the MNS workers did the same at that time also.
"The North Indians, the people of UP and Bihar, the workers, the taxi drivers, they beat them up. And it went very badly. And even now, if you see, in February, the banks, their union had issued a circular in the name of MNS, that people like this are coming to the banks and threatening them," he said, adding he is privy to that information as several of his colleagues who are now retired are working in the banks in the city.
The former soldier urged politicians to choose the "politics of development" and not create divisions in society.
The controversy began when some traders in Mumbai were allegedly attacked by MNS workers for not speaking Marathi. The MNS had been demanding that traders and shopkeepers in the city speak Marathi, leading to tensions between the two groups. The police have been working to maintain law and order in the city and prevent any further escalation of the situation.
The MNS has been advocating for the use of Marathi in public places and has been critical of those who do not speak the language. The party's chief, Raj Thackeray, has been vocal about the need for people to learn and speak Marathi, especially in Maharashtra.
Citing the example of defence, Mr Teotia said it doesn't matter which state you come from, the language will always be Hindi.
"Whether you are from Kashmir, or you are from Kanyakumari, or you are from Kutch, or you are from Kohima, it does not matter. Your language will always be Hindi. We keep India at the top," said the former soldier.

South Indians run dance bars, they should not be awarded food supply contracts in Maharashtra, says controversial Shiv Sena MLA
MUMBAI: Shiv Sena MLA representing Buldhana assembly segment, Sanjay Gaikwad has stirred a fresh controversy, this time, by targeting South Indians. He said on Thursday that South Indians "run dance bars and ladies bars" hence they should not be awarded food supply contracts in Maharashtra. "Why was a contractor named Shetty given the contract? Give it to a Marathi person. They know what we eat and will give us good quality food. South Indians run dance bars, ladies bars and spoil Maharashtra's culture. They have corrupted our children. How will they serve good food?" Gaikwad, the Maharahtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena MLA said. On Tuesday evening, furious at being served "rotten" dal and rice, Sanjay Gaikwad assaulted a canteen staffer at the MLAs' hostel in Colaba and manhandled another. A video of Gaikwad hitting and punching the canteen staffer had gone viral on Wednesday drawing condemnation from the opposition. Sanjay Gaikwad is second time MLA from Buldhan state assembly constituency in Maharashtra. Gaikwad got elected in 2019 against the Congress candidate Harshvardhan Sapkal who is presently president of Maharashtra Congress party. In 2024, Gaikwad won the state assembly elections against Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Jayshree Shelke by 841 votes in Buldhana where Prakash Ambedkar led Vanchit Aghadi candidate bagged 7146 votes. In the past too, Gaikwad had stoked several controversies. In September 2024, he announced a reward of Rs 11 lakh for chopping Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's tongue for comments made during his US visit on reservation system. An FIR was registered against Gaikwad following his announcement.

Coimbatore Serial Blasts Key Accused Arrested In Karnataka After 3 Decades
Chennai: In a significant breakthrough nearly three decades after a series of bomb blasts in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore claimed 58 lives, a key absconding accused - Tailor Raja - has been arrested by the state police in Karnataka, officials told NDTV. Raja, also known by aliases Sadiq and Valarntha Raja, was wanted for his alleged role in supplying bombs used in the 1998 blasts that shook Coimbatore and left 200 people injured. The blasts were seen as a coordinated attempt to assassinate senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani, who was scheduled to address an election rally in the city. Police sources say Raja is an alleged member of the now-banned Islamic extremist outfit Al Ummah. He was reportedly on the run since the blasts, which were one of the most chilling terror attacks in Tamil Nadu's history. A senior officer confirmed that Raja was traced and arrested after sustained surveillance and intelligence inputs, adding that efforts are now underway to bring him to Coimbatore for further investigation and judicial proceedings. After a long drawn legal battle, 17 people, including Al Ummah founder S.A. Basha, were sentenced to life imprisonment for their role in the blasts, besides others. However, Raja managed to evade arrest all these years, making him one of the longest-abscoding accused in the case.
