Reform can't resist Liverpool conspiracy theories
Police on Merseyside, keen to avoid the vacuum which allowed the far right to decide who was responsible for the murders of three children in Southport last year, were much quicker to put information in the public domain following last night's horrific incident in Liverpool.
Not that this stopped some of the right's more dedicated conspiracy theorists. Ant Middleton, former TV presenter and putative Reform candidate for Mayor of London in 2028, weighed in on, inevitably, X, urging his 427,000 followers not to 'believe anything that comes from police statements or the msm… Corruption runs deep and lessons were well and truly learnt from the not too distant past!
'God bless all the scousers and to all involved in this terrible 'terror type' incident, may strength be with you! You are in my prays [sic] this evening! Romans 8:26,' he added.
Pointed out to him that the suspect was a white Briton, Middleton – who himself has spent time in prison for the unlawful wounding of a male police officer and common assault on a female PC – responded: 'It doesn't matter his skin colour, it's the motive behind why he done [sic] it. Which could be a number of things.
'This tactic being used multiple times as confirmed terror attacks who suggest it comes from that handbook and terror attack or not this should be treated primarily as suspected terrorist activity until proven otherwise.'
Meanwhile, Middleton's Reform colleague and fellow noted national security expert Darren Grimes – formerly of GB News, now a Durham councillor – was irked by an initial BBC report that, with confirmation of the nature of the incident yet to come, labelled it a road traffic collision.
'Road traffic collision? Do the BBC know we've all seen the awful videos? I hope to Almighty God there is an explanation for what's happened in Liverpool,' he wrote on X.
When it emerged that the suspect was white and British, Grimes complained: 'Tonight has proven that the police can give out identifiable characteristics such as skin colour pretty damn fast when it suits the approved narrative.'
All very distasteful when people are still seriously injured in hospital. Still, those lucrative likes and reposts won't harvest themselves.

US lawyer Gloria Allred, who represents victims of the late tycoon, said the Duke must appear before Congress. She added: 'He can volunteer to testify. His silence is a statement that he's not willing to help.' Andrew, 65, denies sleeping with Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre. The US crook's ex, Ghislaine Maxwell, is now in a 'cushy' prison. Andrew once vowed to fight against sex trafficking amid the furore of his links to paedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein. And US lawyer Gloria Allred said the disgraced Duke should honour that pledge by finally testifying before Congress on what he knows about the late tycoon's activities and help victims get justice. Andrew, 65, is accused of refusing to co-operate with US investigators, despite giving a BBC interview in which he denied sleeping with Virginia Giuffre, a teenage sex trafficking victim of Epstein's. Ms Allred, who represents several Epstein victims, said: 'There's nothing Prince Andrew can say or do to make it go away. It is news now all over the world. People want to know, who was involved in trafficking or sexually abusing children? 'That's a legitimate question. His silence is a statement that he's not willing to help for some reason. So all I can say is, now more than ever, he should come forward. 'He could volunteer to testify publicly. He volunteered to give an interview on the BBC, why can't he now volunteer to give an interview to the Justice Department or Congress, or both? 'I called on Andrew to speak to the FBI. I would say now more than ever, it's urgent. Is he willing to testify before Congress? Is he willing to give more information to the Justice Department? And if not, why not?' Andrew reached a multi-million pound settlement with Ms Giuffre in 2022 – without admitting liability – despite his denial that he had sex with her when she was 17. A picture appearing to show the Prince with his arm round the teenager also emerged, but he has repeatedly and vehemently denied the pair ever met. At the time of Andrew's payout, a statement on his behalf read: 'He pledges to demonstrate his regret for his association with Epstein by supporting the fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims.' As a foreign national, Andrew cannot be subpoenaed to appear before Congress. But Ms Allred said he does not even have to visit the US to give his side of the story. And she told how she believes the Duke's name is in US government files on Epstein's sick operations, which she said should be made public. Ms Allred said: 'Many in Congress have said that they support the release of the file. I'm talking about Republicans and Democrats. 'US Attorney Geoffrey Berman called publicly on Prince Andrew to give an interview to the FBI and the Justice Department. That never happened. That's why I'm saying his name has to be in the file. You don't have to be subpoenaed to be willing to testify. He could testify. He should testify. 'I think there should be a release of all the files, which are apparently more than 100,000 pages, part of the Justice Department files, which would've included investigations by the FBI. The names of the victims or identifying information should not be released.' The Duke has not visited to the US in recent years, amid claims he fears lawsuits. But Ms Allred added: 'He shouldn't be in fear if he did nothing wrong. But he doesn't have to come back here. I would think his testimony, if Congress wanted to take it, perhaps he could do a deposition in the UK.' Andrew harbours hopes to return to royal life after being stripped of public duties in the wake of the scandal over Ms Giuffre, who took her own life in April at the age of 41. His friendship with Epstein, who died aged 66 at a New York jail in August 2019 while awaiting a trial on sex trafficking of minors, brought shame on the Royal Family. The pair were pictured together in 2010 strolling through Central Park, after Epstein's 2008 conviction for procuring girls for sex. Epstein's ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20-year jail sentence in the US after being convicted in 2021 of helping him find girls for sex. The fallout from the Epstein scandal has caused a rift among supporters of Donald Trump. The US President recently reneged on his election campaign vow to release files on the sex offender. It came after Attorney General Pam Bondi even boasted the documents were 'on her desk', only for the Department of Justice to later claim no such papers exist. The decision not to release the files followed Mr Trump's one-time best pal Elon Musk claiming the President's name appears in them. Trump had a close friendship with Epstein spanning more than three decades. The pair were pictured in 2000 with the then-businessman's future wife Melania and Maxwell.

Woman in her 60s found dead at bottom of cliff just hours after couple's bodies
A woman in her 60s has been found dead at the bottom of cliffs below Whitby Abbey. It is the third death in the area in the space of 24 hours after a couple in their 40s died after falling from the cliff. The woman's body was found yesterday just hours after the couple's bodies were found. Her body was found by a member of the public just after midday on Thursday. Emergency services including police, ambulance, coastguard, mountain rescue and lifeboat teams were all called to the scene. Rescue crews were called in to help with the recovery of her body due to the location and she was taken to the lifeboat house. It is believed the woman fell from the cliff shortly before her death. A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: 'We are investigating the sudden death of a woman aged in her 60s whose body was spotted by a member of the public below Whitby Abbey at 12.53pm yesterday. 'Police, ambulance, coastguard, mountain rescue and lifeboat teams were called into assist with the incident, which is believed to have involved a fall from the cliff. 'Due to the rocky location and high tide, mountain rescue assisted in recovering the woman's body to the lifeboat before being taken to the lifeboat house. 'Enquiries are ongoing to investigate the circumstances for a coroner's report. 'The sudden death is not believed to be suspicious. The woman's family have been informed and are receiving support. More Trending 'Witnesses to the incident or anyone with information that could assist officers, are urged to call North Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 12250142097.' The police investigation is ongoing before a report will be sent to the coroner. On Wednesday, a couple died after they fell from the cliff by Whitby Abbey. The bodies of the man and woman, believed to be in their 40s, were airlifted from the beach in Whitby as the tide came in. Ghislaine Maxwell quietly moved out of Florida prison while seeking Trump pardon
Jeffrey Epstein's accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell has been quietly transferred from a Florida federal prison to a lower-security facility in Texas as she seeks a pardon from President Donald Trump. Maxwell's move out of Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee was confirmed by the Bureau of Prisons on Friday, amid her push for a deal to speak on the late Epstein and be released. 'We can confirm, Ghislaine Maxwell is in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) at the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan in Bryan, Texas,' stated BOP inmate locator official Benjamin O'Cone. The reason Maxwell, 63, was moved was not immediately clear. Maxwell's attorney David Oscar Markus also confirmed that his client was sent to the Texas facility but said 'we have no other comment', according to USA Today. The disgraced British socialite in 2022 was sentenced to 20 years for helping convicted sex offender Epstein sexually abuse underage girls. About a month after her sentencing, she was transferred from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn to FCI Tallahassee, which is a 'low security' prison for men and women. FCP Bryan is a 'minimum security' camp only housing women. Maxwell was interviewed by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche of the Justice Department for two straight days last week. She 'answered every single question' and 'never invoked a privilege, never declined to answer', Markus said. The Justice Department brokered the interview despite asking the US Supreme Court to reject Maxwell's appeal of her conviction. The Trump administration continues to face criticism after the Justice Department and FBI last month said there is no incriminating Epstein client list, breaking from an earlier promise to disclose the documents. More Trending Trump has not ruled out pardoning Maxwell. 'I'm allowed to do it, but it's something I haven't thought about,' he said a week ago.
