LG OLED evo series: Key features and specifications
Display and picture:
The OLED evo models come with a brightness booster, which, as per LG, refines the display's light management and boosts algorithms to improve brightness and clarity, especially in brightly lit environments. According to the South Korean consumer electronics maker, they also support Filmmaker Mode with Ambient Light Compensation, which adjusts the picture based on room lighting to preserve the director's original intent.
Advanced upscaling is handled by the Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen2, which analyses and enhances low-resolution content at the pixel level. For HDR content, Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro improves accuracy and depth. Dolby Vision is also supported.
Audio:
Sound gets a boost with AI Sound Pro, delivering virtual 11.1.2 channel surround sound and improved vocal clarity by isolating dialogue from background audio. Dolby Atmos support is also built-in.
Processor and smart features:
The OLED evo TVs use LG's Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen2, which also powers several AI-driven personalisation features, such as:
AI voice ID: Automatically switches user profiles based on who's speaking.
AI picture/sound wizard: Tailors display and audio based on user preferences.
AI concierge and search: Offers content recommendations and understands conversational queries.
Gaming:
Select OLED evo models support 4K at 165Hz, along with NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium compatibility. Game Optimiser lets users toggle settings like refresh rate and motion blur for different genres.
LG QNED evo series: Key features and specifications
Display and picture:
The QNED evo models use Mini LED backlight technology for better contrast and highlight control, paired with LG's proprietary Dynamic QNED Colour solution, which replaces conventional quantum dot tech to offer more vivid and precise colours. The display is refined zone-by-zone using AI processing for detailed image optimisation.
Audio:
These TVs feature virtual 9.1.2 channel surround sound, with audio settings adapted to individual user profiles through AI Sound Pro.
Processor and smart features:
The QNED evo range is also powered by the Alpha AI Processor Gen2, enabling personalised features similar to the OLED lineup. AI Picture Pro and AI Sound Pro work in real-time to enhance visual and audio output. Akin to the OLED evo series, they also come with AI features like AI voice ID, AI picture/sound wizard, and AI concierge and search.
Software and User Experience
The entire 2025 lineup runs on an updated webOS platform, with support for Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. LG's webOS Re:New program ensures future software upgrades, extending the smart features' longevity. The new home interface is more responsive and adapts to individual user profiles.
With screen sizes going up to 100 inches and new AI-driven features across the board, LG's 2025 smart TV lineup focuses on personalised user experience, brighter displays, immersive audio, and smooth performance for both casual and gaming users.

Telecom policy draft seeks to power new tech like 6G

This is a representative AI image NEW DELHI: Government on Thursday came out with a draft telecom policy that factors in opportunities and challenges presented by next-generation technologies such as 5G/6G, artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), quantum communications, satellite network, and blockchain. The draft of the new policy - released by the department of telecom - also aims at attracting Rs 1 lakh crore investments annually, while creating 10 lakh new jobs in the sector by 2030. "The policy would enable an agile, future-ready regulatory and policy ecosystem that promotes collaboration between the government, industry, academia, startups, and international standard forums. With this policy, India aims to emerge not only as a leading consumer of digital technologies, but also as a trusted global provider of telecom products, services, and solutions," the draft said. The policy also outlined a detailed road map for boosting investment in research, upskilling of workforce, infrastructure modernisation, and effective spectrum management for emerging use cases across smart cities, industry, rural broadband, emergency response, and digital governance. "NTP-25 sets a bold and inclusive trajectory for the next decade - empowering every Indian with meaningful connectivity, driving innovation-led growth, reinforcing digital sovereignty, and securing India's place in the global digital economy ," the draft said, adding it aims to accomplish the following strategic objectives - universal and meaningful connectivity for all, and double the contribution of the sector to India's GDP. DoT has invited public comments on the proposed policy within 21 days from the date the circular was issued. The policy will aim to make India not only a leading consumer of digital technologies, but also a trusted global provider of telecom products, services, and solutions. The policy aims to double the export of telecom products and services, the number of telecommunications startups and the sectoral R&D spending on emerging telecom technologies. It has set a target to create an innovation-centric non-profit company and attain 10% global share in 6G-related intellectual property rights by 2030.
