CAE names Northrop Grumman executive Matthew Bromberg as new CEO
Bromberg, who will join the company on June 16 and take over the top job on Aug. 13, has headed global operations for U.S. defence technology company Northrop Grumman Corp. since 2022. He will also stand for election to CAE's board of directors at the company's upcoming annual meeting.
Bromberg replaces Marc Parent, who announced last year that he was leaving the company in August this year.
CAE also says Calin Rovinescu will become executive chairman of the board, while Sophie Brochu will serve as lead independent director.
Rovinescu, a former chief executive of Air Canada, was appointed to the CAE board in February this year as an independent director and chair.
Brochu, a former chief executive of Hydro-Quebec, has been an independent director at CAE since 2023.

Boat sailing for Greenland missing off Labrador
ST. JOHN'S - Officials say a six-metre sailboat headed for Greenland is missing off the southeast coast of Labrador. The Canadian Coast Guard says the boat was reported overdue on Sunday by a concerned citizen who called the maritime rescue centre in St. John's, N.L. Officials say the vessel — called the Tonnerre — departed from Blanc-Sablon, Que., and its lone occupant is on a solo voyage to Greenland. The Tonnerre's last known position was recorded last week about 296 kilometres east of Cartwright, N.L. Several aircraft and coast guard ships, including the Des Groseilliers and Amundsen, have been looking for the missing boat. S&P/TSX composite up Wednesday morning, U.S. markets also higher
TORONTO - Gains in battery metal stocks helped lift Canada's main stock index in late-morning trading on Wednesday, while U.S. markets also rose. The S&P/TSX composite index was up 76.52 points at 27,440.95. In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 204.92 points at 44,707.36. The S&P 500 index was up 15.51 points at 6,325.13, while the Nasdaq composite was up 13.96 points at 20,906.65. The Canadian dollar traded for 73.45 cents US compared with 73.34 cents US on Tuesday. The September crude oil contract was down 44 cents US at US$64.87 per barrel. The August gold contract was down US$20.60 at US$3,423.10 an ounce.
