7 Philadelphia Eagles who might earn their first Pro Bowl selection in 2025

Cooper DeJean and DeVonta Smith are among seven Philadelphia Eagles who could earn their first Pro Bowl nods in 2025
The Eagles have one of the best rosters in the NFL with few holes or personnel deficits. Philadelphia suffered several losses in the secondary and defensive line, but managed to improve in the short term, while accumulating potential All-Pro talent in the draft. The first wave of free agency saw Josh Sweat (Cardinals), Milton Williams (Patriots), Kenneth Gainwell (Steelers), Mekhi Becton (Chargers), and Oren Burks (Bengals) all depart.
On defense, Vic Fangio was forced to replace Darius Slay (Steelers), Isaiah Rodgers (Vikings), Avonte Maddox (Lions), and James Bradberry (UFA), all of whom departed following the Super Bowl roster.
New seasons offer new opportunities for greatness, and with training camp fast approaching, we're looking at seven Eagles who could earn their first Pro Bowl nod in 2025.
OL Jordan Mailata
Mailata was a Pro Bowl snub last season, but he's arguably the best left tackle in the NFL from an analytical basis. According to Pro Football Focus, Mailata (96.9) led the entire NFL in offensive grade and run-blocking grade (94.9). In addition, Mailata ranked 2nd in the NFL with a 91.7 pass-blocking grade, behind Tristan Wirfs (93.7).
DB Cooper DeJean
After missing most of training camp with a hamstring injury, DeJean got a late start but more than made up for it after the bye. Last season, after entering the lineup in Week 6, DeJean proved to be the top slot corner in the NFL. According to NFL.com, when targeted (28.3%), his EPA was the best mark among all nickel backs and the second-best among all defensive backs. His -0.46 EPA per target ranks second among all corners (minimum of 300 coverage snaps), behind only Pat Surtain II. At one point last season, DeJean allowed a league-low 4.8 yards per target when aligned in the slot (minimum of 20 targets) and hadn't given up a score as a slot defender, with five passes defended. Entering Week 18 of last season, the Eagles' defense allowed over one fewer yard per pass attempt with DeJean on the field (5.6) than when he was off it (7.0). DeJean, who did not allow a TD in coverage in 2024, became the youngest player (22) to record an INT-TD in a Super Bowl when he had a 38-yard INT-TD against Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl LIX.
TE Dallas Goedert
Goedert (team-record 52 career playoff catches) led the Eagles in receptions (17) and receiving yards (215) in the postseason. After reworking his deal, the talented tight end could earn his first out-right Pro Bowl nod.
CB Quinyon Mitchell
The No. 22 in the 2024 NFL draft played a significant role in the Eagles' defensive turnaround. As a rookie, Mitchell ranked 2nd among NFL CBs with 16 forced incompletions, trailing only Denzel Ward (17). He also ranked 3rd among CBs in yards allowed per coverage snap (0.77) (min. 600 coverage snaps).
DT Jordan Davis
Davis has been a solid run-stopper, but he's never played 600 snaps in a season. In 2024, he logged 27 tackles (15 solo), including 1.0 sack and two passes defended, while playing in all 17 regular-season games. His production increased during the postseason, with six tackles (four solo), including two sacks and one pass defense, across four playoff appearances. According to PFF, Davis has produced a sub-8.0% pass-rush win rate in the past two years, and his ten pressures are ranked 90th out of 219 eligible defensive tackles. During the playoffs, the production increased (two sacks, two tackles for loss in four playoff games). Improved production on passing downs could enable Davis to become a three-down player, potentially earning a more lucrative contract.
WR DeVonta Smith
Last season, Smith posted a career-high eight touchdowns in the regular season and hauled in a 46-yard touchdown in Super Bowl LIX. Adding more accolades to his resume, he became the franchise's all-time leader in postseason receiving yards (595).
DB Reed Blankenship
Helping Philadelphia own the NFL's No. 1-ranked total defense, Blankenship logged 78 tackles (52 solo), six pass defenses (including four interceptions), and one fumble recovery in 15 regular-season games in 2024. Blankenship improved during the playoffs, logging 27 tackles (18 solo), one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery during the Eagles ' four-game run to the Super Bowl.

Can Bills Win Super Bowl With 'The Guy' Josh Allen?

Can Bills Win Super Bowl With 'The Guy' Josh Allen? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Buffalo Bills have been so close, yet so far, when it comes to Super Bowls for as long as we can remember. First with Jim Kelly and now Josh Allen, the franchise seems to be allergic to success in the postseason. But with Allen now an MVP winner, plus a good offseason from general manager Brandon Beane that saw improvements come on both sides of the ball, Buffalo appears ready. Advertisement Of course, we have heard this before, but for analyst Ryan Clark, who was speaking on "The Mina Kimes Show," he has the Bills at No. 4 in his 2025 rankings. 'This team was really a couple of quarterback sneaks and a fourth-down blitz away from representing the AFC in the Super Bowl,' Clark said. 'I think that this team improved throughout the off season, I believe when you do what Josh Allen did and sort of get over that hump of winning the MVP, become that guy everybody thinks you are, it gives you a level of confidence that you walk into the next season knowing that you're the guy.' Buffalo Bills quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen.© Ed Mulholland-Imagn Images Yes, Allen is "the" guy, but that needs to translate into something tangible. Advertisement Last season, the Bills were so close to slaying the Kansas City Chiefs but just couldn't make "the" play they needed to late in the fourth quarter. But after a solid offseason that has seen the defense be reinforced in free agency and the draft, the Bills feel they have all the tools needed to not only make a Super Bowl run, but also win it. Of course, we have had this feeling before, and Buffalo fell flat. But can the reigning MVP get them over the hump? Buccaneers Hall of Famer Reveals Honest Take on Baker Mayfield

Buccaneers Hall of Famer Reveals Honest Take on Baker Mayfield originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Since arriving in Tampa Bay prior to the 2023 NFL season, Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has reinvented himself. Advertisement Replacing legend and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is no easy proposition, but Mayfield's transition in Tampa Bay has been seamless. Since being thrown out of organizations like the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers, Mayfield impressed in five games and four starts in Los Angeles with the Rams in 2022, earning him a one-year, "prove-it" deal with the Buccaneers. And "prove it" he did. Now, his leadership is being recognized by a Bucs legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer. Former Bucs defensive back Ronde Barber spoke about Mayfield on his podcast, "The Ronde Barber Show" recently. Advertisement "The leadership qualities just jump out at you," Barber said. "The dude makes tough plays in tough situations. He elevates the entire team. He's had a new coordinator every single year of his career, including this year. And I don't know that it matters. The guy just elevates his game to whatever level he needs it to be at. Baker's a top 10 quarterback for me, man. I don't see how anybody can say otherwise.' Mayfield has been named to the Pro Bowl for the first and second times in his career since joining the Bucs. In 2023, he posted career highs in yards (4,044), touchdowns (28) and completion percentage (64.3). That earned him a three-year, $100 million deal from GM Jason Licht and the team, and last season, he bested those career numbers by a lot with 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns and a 71.4 completion percentage. But what's more important is that he has turned into a leader on and off the field for his team. Baker Mayfield In 'One Of The Best Situations' With Buccaneers

Baker Mayfield In 'One Of The Best Situations' With Buccaneers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the best offenses in football last season, with Baker Mayfield at the helm. Advertisement Equally adept at slicing defenses through the air or on the ground, the Buccaneers could do it all, and that was largely down to the play of their offensive line for giving Baker time to throw, and opening up running lanes. Oh, and let's not forget, all five starters are returning in 2025. With weapons that are the envy of the league, many are expecting Baker to have a superb season again, and for NFL Analyst Mina Kimes, when speaking on the Mina Kimes Show with Ryan Clark, the pair ranked Tampa Bay at No. 12 in their power rankings, with Kimes having glowing words about the Buccaneers offense. 'I really like betting on teams with elite offensive lines and the Bucs, going back and watching the Bucs offense, holy smokes, the offensive line was playing really well,' Kimes said. 'Like, oh, can Baker Mayfield do it again? Yeah, because he's in one of the best situations in football, and we don't really talk about that enough.' Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (13) is congratulated by quarterback Baker Mayfield (6) after scoring a touchdown against the Chicago Bears.© Kim Klement Neitzel-Imagn Images It's hard to argue with that. Advertisement The Buccaneers' offense on paper has the potential to be one of the best, if not the best, in football. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, Emeka Egbuka, and Cade Otton as the passing options, plus Bucky Ivring and Rachaad White as the running back duo, behind a stout offensive line, it is all there for Baker to let it rip. Of course, there are skeptics over whether or not Mayfield can withstand another coordinator change with Josh Grizzard replacing Liam Coen, however, Baker has skins on the wall in the past two seasons, which suggests he'll handle the change. And if he can, coupled with the weapons at his disposal, maybe Mayfield being in the "best situation in football" will produce tangible results.
