CASH (4.10 Sandown, nap).
Jamie Spencer's mount can swoop late to take the Listed Gala Stakes. He was in decent form at Goodwood last time when the challenge came a little late. There are a couple of prominent racers in the field who should set it up nicely.
ELSASS (3.25 Doncaster, nb)
Went down in a tight finish here last time and can go one better for in-form Charlie Johnston. The handicapper has left his mark alone despite that promising effort and he has a lot more to offer with just four starts under his belt.
TRUESHAN (4.45 Sandown, treble).
He's nine now but looked in good form when returning with an excellent fourth in a French Group 1 last time out. It's a big drop down to Listed level from there and we know he has plenty of staying power. He won this race last year and can repeat the feat.

Hibs boss David Gray opens up on major double injury sweat after historic friendly win over Rot-Weiss Essen
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) DAVID GRAY hopes some quick thinking saved Lewis Miller and Elie Youan from injury. Martin Boyle's 75th minute strike saw Hibs run out winners against German third tier side Rot-Weiss Essen after first-half goals from Jamie McGrath and Junior Hoilett. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 Hibs in action against Rot-Weiss Essen Credit: Kenny Ramsay 3 An emotional Pat Stanton takes the acclaim as stand is named after the Hibs Legend Credit: Kenny Ramsay Aussie ace Miller was forced off after failing to recover from a first half knock then French striker Youan lasted just 17 minutes after coming on at half-time. Gray said: 'It's very early but we're hoping both were more precautionary. Millsy was a kick but he's up walking about so we'll have to assess him. 'Elie felt a stiffness in his back which was hampering him when he was running so we weren't taking any risk in making things worse. Hopefully things settle down quickly.' Essen were Hibs' opponents when they became the first British team to compete in the first ever European Cup back in 1955. The latest clash kicked off the club's 150th anniversary celebrations - and saw first Easter Road starts for McGrath, Josh Mulligan and Raphael Sallinger. It came after the Easter Road men went down 6-3 to European giants Ajax in Holland on Saturday. Despite being in the third tier of German football, Essen brought more than 2,000 fans. It took just 79 seconds for them to fall silent as Miller darted into the box then teed up the onrushing McGrath. Visiting goalie Jakob Golz saved the first shot but couldn't keep out the second. Hoilett grabbed Hibs' second in the 14th minute when he picked up the ball on the edge of the box and deftly dinked it beyond Golz's reach. Hibs chief Malky Mackay on his Celtic team-mate who could've been as good as Henrik Larsson It had been all Hibs before the break but Essen started the second half like a different team. Just 39 seconds after the restart sub Dominik Martinovic slid home. When Martinovic went one-on-one with Rocky Bushiri four minutes later neither the Hibs defender nor goalie Sallinger covered themselves in glory as his low drive crept inside the left post. But Hibs recovered and Boyle slammed in a third with 15 minutes left. Essen blew a great chance to equalise with three minutes left when they won a penalty after Torben Musel latched onto a short backpass from Cadden. Musel's shot was tipped wide by Sallinger but he'd been impeded by Marvin Ekpiteta and ref Sean Murdoch pointed to the spot. Sallinger guessed right to beat away Musel's kick. Gray added: 'The fans added to the occasion and it didn't feel like a friendly. It's about minutes in the legs and we started with good intent. 3 David Gray ponders a potential injury blow for his side ahead of the big kick off Credit: Kenny Ramsay 'We started the second half very slowly but we made changes and reacted so credit to the players. I know it's only pre-season but that's a good habit. 'There's still loads of improvement though, like in the goals we lost.' Wales on the brink of Euro 2025 exit despite landmark goal from Jess Fishlock
Clara Mateo, Kadidiatou Diani, Amel Majri and Grace Geyoro bagged for France to leave Wales needing to beat England and manufacture a nine-goal swing in goal difference in Sunday's final match. ⏰ FT | 🇫🇷 4-1 🏴 Defeat for Cymru. — Wales 🏴 (@Cymru) July 9, 2025 Even if they can achieve that unlikely feat, they also need France to beat the Netherlands. Wales must have feared a long night when the French went ahead in just the ninth minute. Mateo did very well to control a flick on from Selma Bacha's inswinging corner and then sent a cushioned volley into the roof of the net. But Wales were level five minutes later as Fishlock created history. Not only did she score her country's first goal at a major tournament, she also became the oldest women to score at the European Championships at the age of 38 years and 176 days when she prodded home Ceri Holland's improvised cross. 🏴 The latest milestone in Jess Fishlock's illustrious career 👏#WEURO2025 — UEFA Women's EURO 2025 (@WEURO2025) July 9, 2025 It was initially ruled out for offside but the decision was overruled by VAR. France went back in front just before half-time from the spot after Holland fouled Mateo and Diani converted, but only just as her weak effort hit the legs of Wales goalkeeper Safia Middleton-Patel and trickled over the line. France made it three in the 53rd minute when Majri swept home after the Welsh defence had been caught playing out from the back. Geyoro put the icing on the cake when she tapped home Diani's cross as France made it 10 wins from 10 in 2025.

PSG dismantle Real Madrid to book Chelsea date in Club World Cup final
PSG 4-0 REAL MADRID: Chelsea will have been watching from behind the sofa as the European champions were at their brilliant best to demolish Los Blancos This was one of the most one-sided Club World Cup games since Bayern Munich put 10 past Auckland City. Paris Saint-Germain dismantled Real Madrid in the MetLife Stadium with an awesome first-half attacking display in the heavyweight semi-final. It was no wonder Trent Alexander-Arnold was missing with a hamstring injury and Chelsea were probably watching from behind the sofa. PSG now face Chelsea in Sunday's final with the winners getting a £97m jackpot in prize money and it would be a huge upset if Luis Enrique's men do not win. Fabian Ruiz scored twice but it was also about PSG's movement and energy as they put the job facing Real Madrid's new boss Xabi Alonso into stark perspective. The French giants are not just the best team in Europe after winning the Champions League, they are also by far and away the best team in the world. They produced another scintillating display of slick passing, pressing and high intensity football even in the scorching heat in front of 77,542 fans in New York. This was a pure joy to watch and the warning signs were there early on as Real Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois made an incredible save from Ousmane Dembele. PSG did not have to wait much longer. Raul Asencio's error let in Dembele who was upended by Courtois but Ruiz slotted in the loose ball to make it 1-0 after six minutes. Three minutes later, Antonio Rudiger slipped and Dembele raced clear before slotting home his 35th goal of the season. It was 3-0 inside 24 minutes as Achraf Hakimi turned on the turbo jets, played in Ruiz who had time to pick his spot and score. PSG got a fourth when substitute Goncalo Ramos scored from close range and then did a Diogo Jota style celebration to mark his late Portugal teammate.
