Dancing With The Stars' first elimination: Aussie icon sent home after BRUTAL slate from judges: 'Seven weeks wasted'
Dancing With The Stars ' first elimination of the 2025 season has seen a beloved Aussie icon dance their last dance.
On Sunday night, this year's rookie ballroom dancers took to the dance floor in a heated battle for a spot in next week's lineup.
Susie O'Neill, lovingly known as Madame Butterfly, struggled to move past her discomfort with close contact, a hurdle that saw her foxtrot receive low scores.
Despite the phenomenal performances across the board, one 2025 participant had to bid farewell to the dancefloor and that star was Olympic swimmer Susie, who scored bottom of the leader board with 15 points.
The judges admired her growing confidence and praised some of her footwork, but straight-shooter Craig Revel Horwood was brutal in his criticism.

'Seven weeks and seven hours a day wasted, I'd say' he said.
Despite the criticism, Madame Butterfly left with her head held high, beaming with pride as she expressed her gratitude for not only learning how to dance, but how to hug.
Up first on Sunday was 7NEWS presenter Michael Usher, who raised temperatures with a fiery paso doble.
Despite 'missing a matador position' and appearing 'too square', the judges were impressed with his characterisation and cape work.
Similarly to Susie, AFL star Trent Cotchin overcame his unease with close proximity as he took on the foxtrot, which he dedicated to his family.
The midfielder made a few footstep mistakes but was hailed for his storytelling ability, flowing movements and clear improvement.
'Something just clicked for you this week, I am so impressed with that change, well done!' said Sharna Burgess of the footy star's progress.
This week, boxer Harry Garside showed his softer side in a moving contemporary number.
Brittany Hockley (pictured left) closed the show with a bang, offering a high-energy samba with big risks that paid off - and nabbed her number one spot on the leader board with 31 points
While his vulnerability was praised, Mark Wilson thought he had played it 'emotionally safe', which saw Helen Richey chime in with a challenge.
'I said you might be the heavyweight in this competition. Don't you prove me wrong Harry.'
TV star Rebecca Gibney was the picture of grace as she took to the floor with the Viennese waltz, sweetly choreographed to her wedding song.
The Gold Logie winner was hailed for her natural elegance, regal form and innate class, but was encouraged to work on her control and transitions.
However, it was Brittany Hockley who closed the show with a bang, offering a high-energy samba with big risks that paid off - and nabbed her number one spot on the leader board with 31 points.
'For all the other competitors so far, they need to watch what you have just done,' Mark commended her, with Sharna and Helen mimicking his sentiments.
Craig likened the samba to a Violet Crumble, calling it 'pretty brittle', but praised Brittany's determination and effort.

Baby joy! Home and Away star Luke Jacobz expecting second child with wife Raychel after fertility struggles
Luke Jacobz has revealed he and wife Raychel are expecting their second child – a baby boy – following years of fertility struggles and heartache. The former Home and Away heartthrob, 44, best known for playing Angelo Rosetta, said the couple were left stunned to discover they had conceived naturally, after initially turning to IVF to fall pregnant with their first daughter, Maisie. 'We're having a boy! We are just over the moon,' Luke told Woman's Day this week. 'That we were actually able to fall naturally with number two – I jumped up and down and lost my mind.' Luke and Raychel, who met in 2017, began trying for a baby the following year but soon found themselves on an emotional rollercoaster. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Despite being given the all-clear medically, they struggled to conceive and eventually turned to IVF via Adora Fertility. Their journey was anything but smooth – involving multiple rounds of egg retrievals, repeated embryo transfers, and three devastating early miscarriages. With just one embryo left, the couple made the difficult decision to undergo one final transfer before their wedding, which had been delayed twice due to COVID. Incredibly, the transfer worked, and Raychel walked down the aisle four months pregnant. 'We weren't expecting that, so we just lost our minds,' Luke said. 'We were so close to not trying anymore because it was just so hard.' But after a harrowing pregnancy and a traumatic birth, the couple believed their family was complete. That is, until their daughter Maisie turned one, and they began to feel a growing desire to give her a sibling. 'We felt selfish not trying again,' Luke admitted. 'But we never imagined it would happen without help.' The couple welcomed their first child, Maisie, back in November 2023. In a sweet Instagram post, the television presenter was thrilled as he shared the good news with his 104,000 followers alongside several snaps of the newborn. 'Words cannot describe how happy we are to bring our bundle of joy into the world,' he captioned his post. 'Maisie - you are so loved and we could not ask for anything more perfect than you.' Luke added that his wife, now a new mum, was 'doing so well' and admitted the birth process was hectic. 'We had a very 'eventful' delivery day but it was all worth it,' he continued.

Gold Logie nominees vow dramatic protest if Hamish Blake wins TV's top honour: 'Stand up and walk out!'
It's shaping up to be the most talked-about Logies in years. And now, a group of this year's leading Gold Logie contenders have threatened to stage a dramatic walkout if one thing happens: Hamish Blake wins. Appearing together on Stellar's Something To Talk About podcast, nominees Sonia Kruger, Lynne McGranger and Ally Langdon threw their support behind their fellow female contenders. The trio are up for Gold alongside Julia Morris, Lisa Millar and Poh Ling Yeow – but didn't hold back when it came to the prospect of the LEGO Masters host walking away with the top gong. 'Stand up and walk out. We should make a pact,' Home and Away icon McGranger declared, sparking laughter from her fellow nominees. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, And if Blake, who won the Gold Logie in 2022 and 2023, attempts to soften the blow by inviting the women onstage during an acceptance speech? 'We just turn around and go, 'Sorry. You're on your own, buddy. Bye,' McGranger added. This year marks a historic moment for the Gold Logie, with six out of the seven nominees being women – a rarity in the awards' decades-long history. The Gold category became gender-neutral in 1978, and since then, only ten different women have ever taken it home. TV presenter and The Voice host Sonia Kruger said the female-dominated field was more than just symbolic – it sends a powerful message to the next generation. '[The three of us] have daughters. And one of the best parts was knowing that all those little girls out there who might be watching TV or looking for a career as an actor, a journalist, a presenter could then aspire a little bit more,' she explained. She continued: 'They see women who are doing that and being recognised for that.' Langdon, now fronting A Current Affair, reflected on the camaraderie among this year's nominees – and revealed that even Blake himself was jokingly campaigning against himself. 'The morning we had the [nominations] breakfast, Hamish was hilarious,' she said. 'He was genuinely saying, 'Don't vote for me. It would be the worst thing in the world if the one guy was the person to win it.' But also, look at the different pathways each of us took to reach this point.' Despite the jokes, the mood among the women is one of mutual admiration and unity. 'This particular group just highlights the fact that some amazing women work in this business,' Kruger added. The 65th TV WEEK Logie Awards nominees were announced earlier this month at the Sydney Opera House, highlighting the very best of TV talent in Australia. Inside Seven's secret plan to sack most of its best-paid stars earning more than $300,000 a year
Seven News bosses were secretly planning to sack some of their most popular and best-paid stars, a new report has claimed. Former top news boss Anthony De Ceglie had a plan to axe every Seven personality on more than $300,000 a year in favour of upcoming TV stars, according to The Australian. Spotlight chief correspondent Liam Bartlett, Seven News chief reporter Chris Reason and Seven News Sydney anchor Michael Usher were going to be quietly dismissed as part of a 'drastic cost-cutting operation'. Sunrise and Morning show presenters, Natalie Barr, Matt Shirvington, Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur were the only stars not at risk of losing their jobs. However, De Ceglie's proposal was met with 'immediate resistance from Seven's more seasoned executives'. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Veteran Channel Seven presenter Sharyn Ghidella was axed from the network in July last year, after almost four decades working in the news industry. Ghidella, 58, the face of Seven News in Queensland since 2007, confirmed the news in a fiery Facebook post at the time. She said her 'tap on the shoulder' finally came while she was at the salon, admitting it was a 'relief' of sorts after several anxious weeks of media job cuts. But she was determined not to go quietly as she took aim at the failing network for prioritising gimmicks like astrology readings over keeping veteran talent. 'When you work in TV for as long as I have, not a day goes by when you aren't expecting the proverbial tap on the shoulder... After 38 years, my shoulder tap has finally come,' Ghidella began. 'It wasn't quite how I expected it to end at Channel Seven. 'I was actually sitting at the hairdressers for work, when I got the call informing me, that after 17 years with the network, my time was up.' Ghidella then said her recent time at the network had been 'miserable' and she was glad to be heading out the door. Queensland cloud watcher Paul Burt and Melbourne crime reporter Cameron Baud were also axed from the network. Burt has lashed out at Channel Seven in an awkward final on-air segment after he was axed by the network in July last year. He presented his final weather segment and took aim at the network during his sign off. 'If I'd had the opportunity I wouldn't have wanted to go this way. It's what happens when you get sacked,' he said at the end of the 6pm news.
