وأكد المدير العام للمشروع السيد محمد الدادا، في كلمة له خلال حفل الافتتاح أن المشروع يُعد مبادرة وطنية رائدة، ومرشحًا ليكون من أهم الوجهات السياحية الواعدة في المملكة، ومجسّدًا لرؤية أصيلة تنبض على أرض أردنية.
كما شدّد الدادا على الأثر الاجتماعي والاقتصادي الإيجابي لهذا المشروع، لا سيما على مجتمع الفحيص والمناطق المجاورة، مشيرًا إلى دوره في توفير فرص عمل للكفاءات الأردنية في القطاع السياحي، وتنشيط الحركة الاقتصادية، واستقطاب المزيد من الاستثمارات السياحية النوعية.

The Grand Opening of 'St. George' – The Most Luxurious Tourism Project in Fuheis, Under the Patronage of the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities
On behalf of Her Excellency Lina Annab, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, the Secretary General of the Ministry, Dr .Fadi Balawi, inaugurated today, Saturday, the grand opening of the St. George project – one of the most prominent and luxurious tourism ventures in the Fuheis area. The event was attended by several ministers, ambassadors, media representatives, influencers, and a distinguished group of key figures in the Jordanian tourism sector.
In his speech during the ceremony, the project's General Manager, Mr. Mohammad Al-Dada, emphasized that this project represents a pioneering national initiative and is poised to become one of the most promising tourist destinations in the Kingdom, embodying an authentic vision brought to life on Jordanian soil.
Al-Dada also highlighted the positive social and economic impact of the project, particularly on the Fuheis community and its surrounding areas. He noted the project's role in creating job opportunities for skilled Jordanian talent in the tourism sector, boosting economic activity, and attracting high-quality tourism investments.

He highlighted archaeological evidence of the world's oldest staircase discovered at Ain Ghazal, dating back over 6,000 years BC, emphasizing that staircase tourism in Oman and across the region could yield significant social and economic benefits. Ghassan Owais, Chairman of the Popular Arts Association, remarked that the forum marks the beginning of further academic and cultural engagements centered on Amman's historic staircases. Aqaba port sees 18.8% growth in inbound containers
Ammon News - Container volumes at Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) recorded a sharp increase in the first half of 2025, driven by stronger trade activity and improved regional shipping conditions, according to data released by the Jordan Logistics Syndicate. The number of inbound containers through the port reached 235,492 between January and June, marking an 18.8% rise from 193,214 containers during the same period last year. Outbound containers carrying Jordanian exports also climbed 8%, reaching 52,214, compared with 48,303 in the first half of 2024. Monthly figures showed continued momentum. In June alone, inbound container volumes increased by 6.6% year-on-year to 40,629, while outbound traffic edged up 1.5% to 9,050 containers. Jordan Logistics Syndicate President Nabil Al-Khatib said the rise reflects a steady improvement in shipping activity through Aqaba since the beginning of the year. He cited increased transit traffic, particularly toward Syria, and renewed confidence in Red Sea shipping lanes as key factors contributing to the growth. "The rebound in regional maritime stability has led to more frequent vessel calls at Aqaba," Al-Khatib said, noting that the port is also seeing a notable rise in vehicle imports, both new and used, via roll-on/roll-off ships and containers. He added that growing investment in transport infrastructure and logistics services in Aqaba is helping support the port's performance, with positive implications for Jordan's broader trade and economic outlook. "The revival of operations at Aqaba Container Terminal, compared to previous years, will have a direct impact on trade activity and the transport sector, which remains a major driver of the national economy," he said. Jordan Records Trade Surplus with 10 Arab Countries Jordan recorded a trade surplus with 10 countries within the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) during the first third of this year, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in Arab markets. اضافة اعلان This positive outcome reflects the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision and serves as an indicator of the growth and competitiveness of Jordanian exports in Arab markets, along with the expansion of the Kingdom's network of trade partners in the region. According to figures compiled by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), based on foreign trade data issued by the Department of Statistics, Jordanian national exports to GAFTA countries grew by 19.6% during the first third of this year, reaching a value of JD 1.117 billion, compared to JD 934 million during the same period last year. Meanwhile, Jordan's imports from GAFTA countries amounted to JD 1.822 billion in the first third of this year, up 15.7% from JD 1.575 billion in the same period of the previous year. Based on statistical data, GAFTA countries ranked first among Jordan's trade partners during the first third of the year, accounting for 40.6% of the total value of national exports. However, the trade balance between Jordan and GAFTA countries recorded a deficit of JD 705 million during the same period, compared to JD 641 million in the same period last year. The total trade volume between Jordan and GAFTA countries reached JD 2.94 billion in the first third of this year, compared to JD 2.5 billion in the same period last year. Jordan recorded a trade surplus with the following GAFTA countries during the first third of 2024: Iraq, Lebanon, Kuwait, Syria, Palestine, Algeria, Bahrain, Yemen, Libya, and Morocco. On the other hand, the Kingdom registered a trade deficit with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar, Oman, Tunisia, and Sudan. Saudi Arabia accounted for the largest share of Jordanian exports to GAFTA countries, reaching approximately JD 338 million, an increase of 23.4%, followed by Iraq with JD 273 million, up 17.7%. Exports to Syria witnessed a significant rise, reaching JD 72 million—a remarkable 453.8% increase. At the same time, Saudi Arabia topped the list of countries from which Jordan imports, with imports valued at JD 993 million. As a result, Jordan's trade deficit with Saudi Arabia alone amounted to around JD 655 million during the first third of this year. Jordan's exports to GAFTA countries primarily include fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, agricultural products such as fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, salts, skincare products, processed foods, furniture, textiles, garments, and paints. Jordan's imports from GAFTA countries include crude oil and its derivatives, jewelry, food products, plastic sheets and panels, titanium oxide, polyethylene and polystyrene, iron and its products, among other goods. The Greater Arab Free Trade Area is an economic alliance among Arab countries aimed at enhancing economic integration and facilitating low-tariff trade.
