Harry Redknapp gets unwelcome visitor as huge 50ft racing yacht crashes into jetty at the bottom of the garden of his brand new Sandbanks home

Daily Mail6 days ago
A huge 50-foot racing yacht crashed into a jetty at the bottom of the garden of Harry Redknapp's brand new Sandbanks mansion.
The vessel was swept towards the north shore of the exclusive peninsula in Poole Harbour by strong winds.
It collided with the wooden pier belonging to the former Tottenham and West Ham manager's next-door neighbour, businessman Nigel Walters.
The four occupants were able to safely step off, but the trimaran, called Three Cheers, remained wedged under the structure.
The Poole lifeboat and Poole coastguard were called out to assist, but the crew ended up calling a local recovery company to remove the boat.
A spokesperson for Poole Lifeboat said: 'A 50ft trimaran was passing through Poole Harbour on passage.
'With no engine at the time, it got into difficulty and ended up aground and wedged under a jetty near North Haven Point.
'The lifeboat volunteers were swiftly on scene and found that the casualties were all ashore, safe and well and did not require assistance.'
Harry and Sandra Redknapp's new Italianate villa is being built on the Sandbanks waterfront.
The couple paid £7million for a 60-year-old house that stood on the plot before bulldozzing it and now the new Italian inspired property sits in its place.
They had spent two years living in a leafy inland suburb of Poole, but it is thought they missed a sea view, so they bought the waterfront property.
The mansion will have spectacular views of Brownsea Island, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The latest photos of the project show that the three-storey villa is quickly taking shape.
The shell and the roof of the mansion have been built with huge gaps in the walls left for the windows and doors.
The back garden is also being formed with the outline of concrete steps leading down to the harbour's edge.
The rectangular building that will be a boathouse has also been constructed.
When it is complete, the luxury villa will have a grand entrance hall, a huge open-plan living/kitchen/dining room, two reception rooms, a study, a boot room and five en suite bedrooms as well as a double garage at the front which will have room for a gymnasium.
The white-rendering to the external walls will be in keeping with properties around Lake Como, as will the Palladian-style columns and four separate balconies with black wrought iron railings.
When finished, the property will be worth about £12million.
When the proposals were first tabled, one neighbour, Alison Wheeler said: 'The proposed building is overpowering. I fear it would feel oppressive.
'The quiet enjoyment of our garden would be seriously impacted by the windows in the new south-west wing. The addition of several ground and first-floor windows... would have a major impact on our privacy.
'It would create shadow in the morning and significantly reduce the light on the south-eastern aspect of our house.'
Another resident, Nicola Bailey, added: 'The proposed development... does not seem to respect the "spacing between plots".'
Chris Shipperley, of ARC Architects, acting for the Redknapps, said the couple had already revised the plans to appease locals, including lowering the property's height and making it narrower.
Luxury properties on the edges of the peninsula have gardens running down to the water and private jetties with direct access to Poole Harbour.

Huge carmaker behind Vauxhall and Peugeot is hit by £2billion loss as new boss throws ‘kitchen sink' at restructure

The manufacturing giant has blamed huge losses on Trump's brutal tariffs TURNING AROUND Huge carmaker behind Vauxhall and Peugeot is hit by £2billion loss as new boss throws 'kitchen sink' at restructure Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A MAJOR car firm behind 14 brands including Vauxhall and Fiat has reported a loss of more than £2 billion so far this year. Stellantis boss Antonio Filosa has vowed to 'throw the kitchen sink' at restructuring the manufacturing giant after a "tough" six months. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 CEO Antonio Filosa has vowed to 'throw the kitchen sink' at restructuring the car maker Filosa - who joined the struggling car maker last month - pointed to the impact from Donald Trump's global tariffs and growing restructuring costs. The company, which also owns Citroën and Peugeot, claimed the US President's extortionate levies had cost it more than £260million. Stellantis halted production in North America in April, shortly after the tariffs were announced, leading to a six per cent decline in shipments across the globe. Chief Financial Officer Doug Ostermann admitted that the figures could get worse, as the levy only came into effect part way through the first half of the financial year. He told analysts: "We'll see significantly more in the second half unless things change. "Given the current outlook, I would expect to see that figure probably double in the second half or more." The car maker was forced to cancel a number of programmes this year, including a hydrogen fuel cell project. This year's huge loss is a stark contrast to the first half of 2024, with Stellantis reporting a profit of more than £4.8billion. Despite the financial difficulties, Mr Filosa hailed his company's "meaningful progress" in the first half of 2025. In a letter to employees, he said it had been 'tough ... with increasing external headwinds including tariffs, foreign exchange effects and challenging macro-economic conditions". He added: 'Despite difficulties, it has also been six months of meaningful progress compared to the second half of 2024." It comes as the Franco-Italian automaker admitted it may have to shut some of its factories. WHO ARE STELLANTIS? They are one of a number of European car manufacturers that risk hefty EU fines for not complying with CO2 emission targets. Stellantis' Europe chief Jean-Philippe Imparato slammed the targets, saying they were still unreachable, according to Automotive News. Speaking at a conference in the lower house of parliament in Rome, he said that without significant changes in the regulatory situation by the end of this year, "we will have to make tough decisions." Stellantis would therefore either have to double its electric vehicle sales or cut the production of petrol and diesel vehicles. Imparato said: "I have two solutions: either I push like hell (on electric)... or I close down ICE (internal combustion engine vehicles). "And therefore I close down factories." Meanwhile, discussions over the future of Maserati remain ongoing, as Stellantis was reported to have hired management consulting firm McKinsey and Co to review the situation. McKinsey was called in April this year to advise on struggling brands Maserati and Alfa Romeo, with both experiencing a dire 2024. Last year, the number of Maserati units sold plunged from 26,600 to just 11,300. Stellanis told Motor1: "McKinsey has been asked to provide its considerations regarding the recently announced U.S. tariffs for Alfa Romeo and Maserati." Trump's new legislation means tariffs of at least 25 percent on anything imported into the US. Maserati has no new model launches scheduled as it waits for a new business plan, with the last one having been put on hold by Stellantis in 2024. But as things stand, it is understood that all options remain on the table for the world-renowned Italian brand. Plans for the hotly anticipated electric MC20 Folgore were also binned due to low demand. 3 Despite the financial difficulties, Mr Filosa hailed his company's 'meaningful progress' in the first half of 2025 Credit: Getty

I am delighted to be a part of it.' 'The Pronovias brand is synonymous with craftsmanship and style in bridal design,' said Gianni Serazzi, chairman of Pronovias Group. 'We are confident that Cristina will further consolidate the company's prestigious reputation and strengthen the group's leadership. She will work closely with our talented executive teams and employees to write the next chapter of Pronovias.' Regarding the former CEO, Serazzi added, 'We would like to express our gratitude to Calabia for his valuable contribution to the consolidation of Pronovias. His work has been fundamental in laying the organisational, brand, and product foundations for the group's new era. We wish him all the best in his new projects.' Alba Ochoa holds a double degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a Master's degree in Finance and Banking from Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona. She joins Pronovias Group from Metro Bank, a British financial institution where she has worked since January 2024, first as interim chief financial officer and later as a member of its board of directors. Prior to these roles, Alba Ochoa spent over 17 years (from 1999 to 2017) at General Electric, holding various positions of responsibility. She then joined the British digital financial institution Oak North Bank as chief financial officer and board member between 2017 and 2021. Subsequently, she held various positions in finance and investment firms. She served as interim chief executive officer and member of the advisory board of the Spanish investment company Atitlan Group, where she remains a board member. In April 2024, she joined the board of directors of DoValue, an Italian company specialising in the management of financial and real estate assets, where she also remains a board member. Finally, she joined the management and board of Metro Bank, from which she has now moved to the executive management and board of directors of Pronovias. In summary Cristina Alba Ochoa has been appointed the new global CEO of Pronovias Group, replacing Marc Calabia. Alba Ochoa brings a solid track record of over 30 years in finance, corporate leadership, and team management, having worked at companies such as General Electric and Metro Bank. Pronovias highlights Alba Ochoa's experience in transformation projects and is confident that she will consolidate the group's reputation and leadership worldwide.
