Billie Eilish Condemns Israel Defense Minister's Plan to Forcibly Relocate Palestinians

Yara Sameh
Billie Eilish is raising awareness for some of the biggest issues facing the world right now, from the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza to the immigration crackdowns in her hometown of Los Angeles.
In a series of posts on her Instagram Story, the pop star called attention to a
clip
of Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz's recent announcement that Israel plans to move displaced Palestinians — starting with about 600,000 civilians — into a 'humanitarian city' built on the ruins of Rafah.
According to
CNN
, Katz's long-term goal is to eventually relocate the entire Palestinian population of Gaza (about 2 million people) to the southern territory, where no one would be allowed to leave.
Eilish described the proposal with one word: 'horrifying.'
The development comes as Israel's war against Hamas approaches the two-year mark. The conflict first began on October 7, 2023, when the terrorist group killed 1,200 Israelis and took 251 more as hostages; more than 55,000 Palestinians have since died in Israel's retaliation efforts, according to
Reuters
.
Eilish previously expressed her desire for the violence to end by wearing an 'Artists for Ceasefire' pin at the 2024 Oscars, and on Wednesday, she also reshared a video of an activist delivering clean water to refugees along the coast of Gaza. 'Thank you to all the heroes out there,' she wrote on her Story.
In addition to speaking out about what's occurring in the Middle East, Eilish also reshared a
video
of Homeland Security agents in military gear storming MacArthur Park, where many children belonging to one of L.A.'s biggest immigrant populations often play, according to
The New York Times
.
The operation follows the widely criticized U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids on the city in June.
The Grammy winner also shared a more heartwarming post on her Story celebrating the bravery of Mexican firefighters who traveled to Texas amid the recent deadly floods, assisting with recovery efforts under orders from President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
The singer previously wrote a message of support to those affected by the natural disaster — in which more than 100 people have died — writing, 'this is so sad … sending love to Texas.'
Eilish has long been outspoken about her political beliefs and the causes she supports, from endorsing Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election to partnering with her mom, Maggie Baird, on environmental initiatives through Support + Feed.

Taarek Refaat U.S. police in Iowa detonated a homemade bomb found at Waveland Golf Course. According to U.S. media reports, the device was discovered after a golfer alerted Waveland staff to what they believed was a pipe bomb, leading to an immediate evacuation of the premises. The police received several reports from individuals at the nearby Des Moines Golf Course, indicating that they were asked to leave the area for safety reasons. Authorities conducted a full sweep of the area to ensure there were no other potential threats. No injuries have been reported, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the origins and intent behind the device. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language

Israeli Military Confirms Drone Crash in Southern Lebanon

Taarek Refaat The Israeli military confirmed on Friday that one of its drones crashed in southern Lebanon during the night, attributing the incident to a technical malfunction. The military statement emphasized that there were no concerns about sensitive information being leaked. In a statement published by Yedioth Ahronoth, Israel's prominent newspaper, the military clarified that the drone's failure was caused by a technical issue and assured that there was no risk of security breaches. "The drone crashed due to a technical malfunction, and there are no concerns regarding the leak of sensitive information," the statement read. An investigation into the incident is currently underway. Earlier reports by Lebanese media outlet Al-Mayadeen, which is closely associated with Hezbollah, claimed that the Israeli drone had targeted a vehicle in the Kfarkila region of southern Lebanon before it crashed and exploded. While the Lebanese outlet suggested an attack on a vehicle, the Israeli military has not confirmed these allegations. This incident comes amid heightened security tensions along the Lebanese-Palestinian border, with increasing use of drones by both sides for surveillance and targeted operations. The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has become more prevalent in recent months as the region experiences escalating hostilities and military activity. The crash is likely to add further strain to an already volatile situation. While Israel has often used drones for reconnaissance and surveillance missions along the border, the crash of an Israeli drone in Lebanon raises concerns over the potential for further incidents and retaliation. As the investigation continues, Israel's military authorities have not ruled out the possibility of further operational adjustments to prevent similar incidents in the future. However, they maintain confidence that no sensitive intelligence was compromised during the event. The use of drones in the region continues to be a focal point of security operations, and experts predict that their role in the Israeli-Lebanese conflict will only increase, especially as both sides look to maintain their technological edge in an increasingly tense environment. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language
