Islanders vs Kings 1-4: LA Kings stifle Islanders with perfect penalty kill
Philip Danault and Quinton Byfield scored within a five-minute span to put the Kings ahead, while Drew Doughty sealed the win with a short-handed empty-net goal. Vladislav Gavrikov opened the scoring in the first period as Los Angeles went 8-for-8 on the penalty kill.
Goaltender Darcy Kuemper stopped 33 shots and benefited from two potential Islanders power-play goals overturned for goalie interference. The win extended the Kings' streak to three and moved them within a point of the Edmonton Oilers for second place in the Pacific Division.
Anders Lee scored in the second period for New York, which concluded its three-game West Coast trip at 1-2-0. The Islanders, now five points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets for the final Eastern Conference wild-card spot, received 28 saves from Ilya Sorokin.
Gavrikov broke through with 4:27 left in the first, beating Sorokin with a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle. The Islanders briefly pulled even at 8:37 of the second when Lee's shot from the slot slipped past Kuemper.
Danault put the Kings back on top just 37 seconds later, capitalizing after Warren Foegele forced a turnover deep in New York's zone. Byfield extended the lead to 3-1 with an unassisted short-handed goal after Islanders defenseman Tony DeAngelo broke his stick attempting to receive a pass.
Lee appeared to bring New York back within a goal late in the second, but his tally was overturned following review. With Sorokin pulled in the final minutes, Doughty iced the game with a short-handed empty-net goal at 1:17 remaining.

Messi stars as Miami rips Montreal
Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez each scored two goals to spark Inter Miami to a 4-2 Major League Soccer victory over visiting Montreal on Wednesday. Argentine superstar Messi opened the scoring in the 27th minute and assisted on Suarez's first goal in the 68th minute for a 2-0 edge. Tyrese Haliburton delivered a historic triple-double to power the Indiana Pacers past the New York Knicks 130–121 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday, giving Indiana a commanding 3–1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
