Murray hailed as Scottish tennis trailblazer after Wimbledon defeat
Murray was crowned mixed doubles king of SW19 in both 2007 and 2017 and sits joint top with Virginia Wade as the most decorated doubles player in British tennis history.
Fellow Scot Lumsden, 27, has grown up idolising the former world No.1 and loved sharing a court with him in front of watching friends and family.
'We know Jamie really well and everything he has achieved,' said Lumsden, who lost alongside Harriet Dart in the women's doubles the previous day.
'He's obviously someone I've always looked up to a lot - he's had an amazing career, won a lot of Slams, so it's very cool to be on the same court as him and play against him.
'I respect him a lot for all he's done for Scottish and British tennis.'
The match was played in front of a raucous SW19 atmosphere on a sunbaked Friday afternoon in south-west London.
And Stevenson, 26, said: 'There was a group of lads I didn't know would be there I used to played football with, who were loud and had a few drinks.
'It's a relaxed environment on mixed side - to get the opportunity to continue playing at this place is what we want to do.'
Elsewhere, Henry Patten kept his men's doubles title defence with Harri Heliovaara alive with a 7-6(6) 6-3 victory over British pair Billy Harris and Marcus Willis.
But he was unable to progress in the mixed event alongside Olivia Nicholls, going down 6-3 6-4 against Asia Muhammad and Andres Molteni.
Patten, 29, captured Wimbledon hearts last summer with an unexpected men's doubles triumph alongside experienced Finn Heliovaara, 36.
And speaking after navigating his way to the third round, he said: 'We've definitely got a little bit of work to do – but we stuck together as a team and got over the line.
'They're good signs that we were able to come together under pressure at the tournament and not get too daunted by that.'

George Ford hails England's second-half showing in impressive win over Argentina
Without several players due to British and Irish Lions commitments, Ford and fellow co-captain Jamie George stepped up to help England through a difficult first half, in which they were temporarily reduced to 13 men, before they attacked with aplomb after the break. Tom Roebuck grabbed a brace of second-half tries and Freddie Steward also crossed before Cadan Murley wrapped up the scoring late on to earn a comprehensive win, which was all the more impressive given Alex Coles and Seb Atkinson were sent to the sin-bin at the same time during the opening period. Ford's drop goal proved the difference between the teams at the break and, in addition to three successful conversions, the Sale fly-half sent over two penalties in quick succession as Argentina threatened a response to help ease England to victory. 'We just wanted to perform well and win,' Ford told Sky Sports. 'It's all about the team as always. We understand how difficult it is here in Argentina, so it is a great win for us. 'We were under pressure in the first half, gave away too many penalties and could not get out of our half. 'We had to make sure second half we got out of our half and created some try-scoring opportunities, which we did early in the second half. 'We have to back it up next week and we know Argentina will come back at us. Another challenge that we will look forward to.' England were indebted to co-captain George after Coles was given a yellow card for a head-on-head contact with Facundo Isa. Yet, after Santiago Carreras missed a simply penalty for the hosts, Ford reprised his role as chief tormentor of Argentina with a fine drop goal to make it 3-0 at the break. Atkinson had also been shown a yellow card by this point as England were briefly down to 13, but three tries in nine minutes at the start of the second half meant those cards mattered little. Sale wing Roebuck crashed over on the right inside two minutes before Ford's slick pass sent old Leicester team-mate Steward across the line. When Roebuck grabbed his second soon after Argentina looked set for a long night. However, tries for Pablo Matera and Pedro Rubiolo helped raise the prospect of an unlikely comeback, only for Ford to nail two long-range penalties before Murphy dotted down to seal a clinical away win.

Tennis star Iga Swiatek has surprised Wimbledon fans by sharing a photo on social media showing her unique twist on the classic strawberries and cream. The 23-year-old Polish star posted a picture of the unusual dish, featuring pasta mixed with fresh strawberries and yogurt. Swiatek explained: 'Come on guyssss, this is a Polish speciality,' revealing the combination is a beloved traditional dish from her home country. The former world No1 had revealed that it was going to be her celebration meal after booking a place in the fourth round of the Championships following a 6-2 6-3 victory over the USA's Danielle Collins. 'I have my favourite actually,' she said. 'I ate it as a kid. It is pasta with strawberries.' 'You should try it guys,' Swiatek continued. 'Pasta with strawberries and a little bit of yoghurt. It is just great.' Strawberries and cream have long been a beloved Wimbledon tradition, enjoyed by fans and players alike throughout the tournament. Millions of servings are consumed each year, making it an iconic part of the Wimbledon experience. On her victory, Swiatek added: 'I was just in the zone you know,' she told the BBC. 'I knew what I wanted to play and I knew I needed to be brave. 'You can't let Danielle play her winners, you know. 'Yeah [I am learning to love grass courts], honestly it is much more fun this year. 'I had some practices where the ball was listening to me which is pretty new on grass. 'I am just looking for that feeling during the match as well. 'For sure today was a good day, for sure it is giving me confidence and honestly, it is a new experience feeling good on grass.' 'It's the rule!' - Wimbledon player throws racket after argument with umpire
Luciano Darderi threw his racket in disgust after arguing with an umpire over a decision during his Wimbledon defeat to Jordan Thompson. Australia's Thompson was serving for the first set against Italy's Darderi when, at 40-15 up, his hat fell off mid-serve in windy conditions on Court 18. The 31-year-old managed to catch his cap and continued the point, eventually hitting a volley past Darderi to clinch the game and first set. But Darderi immediately complained to the chair umpire that he should have been awarded the point or, at worst, the point should be replayed. 'It's the rule,' Darderi yelled at Wimbledon umpire Mohamed Lahyani. 'You are not allowed to play with the cap like this. You are not.' As Lahyani explained his decision, an animated Darderi responded: 'What?!' The world number 59 then slammed his racket down onto his chair, leading to a chorus of boos from the spectators on Court 18. Darderi also challenged Thompson about the decision, not that the Australian was ever going to refuse the point which put him in the driving seat in the third-round clash. Lahyani appeared to make a call to double-check he made the right decision as Darderi continued to argue his case. BBC commentator and former Wimbledon doubles champion Todd Woodbridge said: 'What happened in this point is Jordan Thompson hit the serve and his hat came off with it. 'But in the same motion he grabs it in his left hand. He holds it and then plays the whole point, which is multiple shots. 'Now, the umpire could have said, 'replay the point – hindrance'. You get one opportunity for that, if your hat falls off your head or if your ball falls out your pocket, they will replay it once. 'But if it happens a second time it is immediately the point to the opponent. The other thing that could have happened is Darderi saying, 'hold on', and putting his hand up. 'The umpire then would have ordered a replay of the point. He has the right to argue, but he is going to lose because he did not say anything in the first place. 'It is like going back and challenging a call, when the system was in place, you must challenge in that moment.' Darderi's mood would not have got any better as he went on to lose 4-6 4-6 6-3 3-6, missing out on a place in the fourth round of Wimbledon. Speaking out on the incident, Thompson – who plays Taylor Fritz next – said: 'I mean, my hat's fallen off before, and I know what the rules are. 'It didn't hinder him; it hindered me. So I don't know what he was complaining about. 'It's not like it was 5-all in the fifth, deuce. Every point's big, but it is what it is. 'He was having a bit of a whinge, but I get where he's coming from, but, you know, rules are rules, so just gotta play by them. More Trending 'My hat's fallen off before and most of the calls have honestly gone against me and that one, it puts him off. 'I guess if you had to stop the point, I would have happily replayed it, but, I guess it, it doesn't count unless it, hits the deck, so play on.' On his promising run at the All England Club, Thompson – ranked No. 44 in the world – added: 'If someone told me that I was gonna be in the fourth round with the preparation I've had, I'd say show me the dotted line. 'I think grass is my best surface and it hasn't really shown at Wimbledon so to finally, you know, live up to somewhat expectations is, extremely pleasing.'
