Jalen Ramsey announces Steelers trade with sick NFL Films-style clip

USA Today3 days ago
Jalen Ramsey is finally not a Miami Dolphin anymore -- it was clear that the star cornerback and the franchise were going to have a clear break this offseason.
So where is he heading? On Monday, we learned it: he's going to be a Pittsburgh Steeler! He's joining a stacked secondary that has Darius Slay Jr., DeShon Elliott and Joey Porter Jr.
And of course the man who's always active on social media decided to break the news himself. How did he do it? With a pretty sick video that's in the style of NFL Films, complete with a baritone voice narrating: "Shut-down corner, relentless competitor, a walking chip on his shoulder with four wheels and no brakes."
That's pretty awesome.
Steelers and Jalen Ramsey trade details
The Steelers dealt Minkah Fitzpatrick, which is kind of wild.
We also know Ramsey is getting more money:
Wild stuff.
What position will Jalen Ramsey play for the Steelers?
Maybe he'll be a safety given that Fitzpatrick is out? No one has said for sure, but that could be a move if Ramsey has a lost a step since his prime.

Bettors Aren't Believers in Steelers Blockbuster Moves

Bettors Aren't Believers in Steelers Blockbuster Moves originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a remarkably aggressive offseason. For a team that historically prides itself on measured moves designed for consistency, an offseason makeover that so far has included a pair of blockbuster trades and a significant signing is something of a departure. However, head coach Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh braintrust are eight years removed from their last playoff win, and their seats are likely getting pretty hot right about now. Advertisement To that end, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, receiver D.K. Metcalf, tight end Jonnu Smith, and cornerback Jalen Ramsey have been enlisted to add some firepower to both sides of the ball. Despite the star-studded moves, the oddsmakers are not impressed. Currently, the Steelers are only favored to win a slight six of seventeen games in 2025. This, according to Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan. Of course, lines change all the time, and the NFL is still over two months away from opening night. However, it seems unlikely that there are any blockbuster moves left in the Steelers' arsenal that could raise the confidence in the team over the coming weeks. Advertisement The biggest question mark facing the team is whether Pittsburgh will work out its contract impasse with linebacker T.J. Watt. Watt, a four-time All-Pro, is in the final season of a four-year, $112 million contract extension. He held out of the Steelers' mandatory veteran minicamp to try and force the team to negociate, but so far, both sides are not close. A trade of Watt, one of the NFL's best defenders, would not do much to augment the team's current reputation with the oddsmakers, however. Oddsmakers don't believe in Aaron Rodgers' Steelers

Oddsmakers are low on the Steelers' 2025 chances with Aaron Rodgers in the fold. Despite their big addition at quarterback, Pittsburgh's over/under win total is sitting at just 8.5, which is right around their typical end-of-season number in recent years. They are favored in just six of their 17 games at DraftKings Sportsbook — and those are against some of the NFL's worst teams. The Steelers are minus-odds in both divisional games against the Browns, on the road against the Jets, and at home versus the Seahawks, Colts and Dolphins. They aren't favored by seven or more points in any of those games. Vegas bookies didn't budge after months of flirtation between Rodgers and the Steelers came to an end last month. Before officially signing Rodgers, the Steelers were +4500 to win the Lombardi Trophy at BetMGM Sportsbook, the 17th-best odds in the league. That number didn't budge after finally landing Rodgers, suggesting oddsmakers assumed all along the ex-Jets QB was heading to Pittsburgh. Getty Images They are also +145 to make the playoffs and a +600 long shot to win the AFC North at BetMGM. The Steelers are hoping Rodgers can get them over the hump a near-decade of playoff incompetence. Pittsburgh has lost six straight postseason games, including a wild-card round loss in four of the last five seasons. Betting on the NFL? The future Hall of Famer heads to Pittsburgh after a disappointing 2024 season for the 5-12 Jets, during which he threw for 3,897 yards with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He replaces Russell Wilson, who is likely to take the starting job with the Giants. Rodgers will have a new Steelers receiving corps to throw to after the franchise traded for star pass-catcher D.K. Metcalf and dealt away George Pickens to the Cowboys.

Former Broncos All-Pro Safety Justin Simmons Predicted to Land With Steelers

Former Broncos All-Pro Safety Justin Simmons Predicted to Land With Steelers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With a blockbuster trade sending Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith, the Steelers have aggressively reinforced their both sides of the ball. But it comes at a cost. Advertisement Pittsburgh now faces a glaring need at safety heading into the 2025 NFL season, and according to Noah Strackbein on Yardbarker, one former Denver Broncos All-Pro could be the answer. "Justin Simmons remains on the market, being one of the many big-name veterans still waiting for a job in 2025." Stackbein said. "At 31-years-old, Simmons is coming off his only year with the Atlanta Falcons... he's still got plenty of gas left in the tank." A two-time Pro Bowl and four-time Second-Team All-Pro during his Denver Broncos tenure, Simmons played in all 16 of the Flacons' games in 2024. He recorded 62 tackles and two interceptions. The nine-year pro was a ball-hawk during his time with the Broncos, racking up at least five interceptions in his final three seasons with the team. Advertisement Denver Broncos free safety Justin Simmons (31) tackles Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Ryan Switzer (10) on a reception in the second quarter at Broncos Stadium at Mile J. Downing-Imagn Images "Signing Simmons gives them their biggest upside, though. He's easily the biggest name of all of their options, and there seems to be no slowing down in his game," Strackbein said. "He's an instant star to any defensive secondary." With Fitzpatrick gone, the Steelers' defense should still be elite or close to it. The team is working on a new contract for T.J. Watt, who pairs with Alex Highsmith as a fierce pass-rushing duo. Cameron Heyward is a veteran stalwart on the defensive line, and adding Ramsey shores up the cornerback spot. But safety remains the key missing piece. By signing Simmons, Pittsburgh would inject experience and leadership to pair with Deshon Elliott, who played with Ramsey briefly in Miami. It's a low-risk, high-upside addition in a do-or-die year for head coach Mike Tomlin.
