Huma Qureshi Shares First Look Of Her Next Bayaan, Film To Premiere At TIFF 2025
Huma Qureshi is gearing up for her next film titled Bayaan. The actress has recently shared the first look and also revealed that it will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2025. The taut police procedural thriller has been officially selected for the prestigious Discovery section at the esteemed festival, where it will make its highly anticipated World Premiere this September.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Huma shared photos and wrote, 'Here's your first look at BAYAAN, all set to have its World Premiere at TIFF 2025. We're proud to be the only film from India selected for the prestigious Discovery section. A story that felt urgent to tell — made with passion, purpose, and an incredible team." The film boasts of a stellar cast that includes stalwarts like Chandrachur Singh, Sachin Khedekar with powerhouse performers Paritosh Sand, Avijit Dutt, Vibhore Mayank, Sampa Mandal, Swati Das, Aditi Kanchan Singh and Perry Chhabra.

Helmed by writer-director Bikas Ranjan Mishra—best known for his acclaimed feature film 'Chauranga'—'Bayaan' was developed at Film Independent, Los Angeles and is produced by Shiladitya Bora of Platoon One Films, India's leading independent film studio known for multiple Filmfare award winning Ghaath (Berlinale 2023), National Award winner Picasso (Amazon Prime's first direct to digital Marathi film).
Bayaan is a co-production of Platoon One Films with Madhu Sharma (Summit Studios), Kunal Kumar, Anuj Gupta as producers with Switzerland-based Sadik Keshwani (Guidant Films) as co-producer. Huma Qureshi is also attached as an Executive Producer on the film.
Filmmaker Bikas Ranjan Mishra described 'Bayaan' as a poignant reflection of contemporary India, where 'power and gender intersect in volatile and often invisible ways."
The filmmaker added, 'It is my attempt to bear witness to a society in transition — and to the quiet courage of those who choose to speak.' I'm deeply honoured to present my second feature, Bayaan, at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Discovery section — a platform that has launched the journeys of many filmmakers I admire and cherish."
Huma Qureshi said she is thrilled that 'Bayaan' will have its World Premiere in the Discovery section which has launched the careers of filmmaking giants like Christopher Nolan, Alfonso Cuarón and Barry Jenkins among others.
'Bayaan gave me the opportunity to play the kind of character I've long been drawn to—someone within the justice system, yet up against forces much larger than herself. It was an absolute joy to work with a team so passionate and fearless in telling a story that feels both vital and universal," Qureshi said in a statement.

Rebel Wilson Sued By Production Company For Sabotaging Film's Release, Actor Reacts
Last Updated: Last year, Rebel was hit with a defamation lawsuit after accusing the producers of The Deb of stopping it from premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Rebel Wilson is being sued by the production company behind her directorial debut. UK-based AI Film has filed the lawsuit in Australia, accusing the 44-year-old actress of deliberately sabotaging the film's release in order to devalue the movie and pressure AI Film and Australian company Dunburn Debutantes Commissioning Company – named as the second plaintiff in the lawsuit – into selling their stake to her company Camp Sugar. According to The Guardian, AI Film said in a statement: 'These proceedings are regrettable but essential to ensure The Deb's timely release. It's a joyous, fun film, and we are sure that audiences are going to love it." Lead actress Charlotte MacInnes said: 'I love this film and I can't wait for it to be released … it would be wonderful if these proceedings can help make that happen." Wilson responded to the lawsuit with a message on Instagram Stories saying: 'Apparently I'm being sued in Australia. It makes no sense. As the director, producer and co-star who nurtured a project called THE DEB for 5 years from a 3 page idea into a gorgeous feature film – I want nothing more than to have this film released and have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get this to happen. To say otherwise is complete nonsense. I'm so proud of the film!"
