Ellen DeGeneres moved to UK because of Trump, plans to remarry there

Yahoo21-07-2025
Ellen DeGeneres says she decided not to return to the U.S. from the U.K. because of Donald Trump and plans to remarry there if the Supreme Court rolls back same-sex marriage rights.
The comedian and former talk show host — among several celebrity donors who supported Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign — confirmed that she and her wife Portia de Rossi left their home country for the U.K. during the 2024 presidential election and decided to stay when the MAGA leader won re-election for a second term.
'Yes. We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, 'He got in.' And we're like, 'We're staying here,'' she told British broadcaster Richard Bacon during a conversation on Sunday.
Earlier this month, DeGeneres took to Instagram to support Rosie O'Donnell after Trump threatened to revoke her citizenship. O'Donnell, who has a near-20-year-feud with the ex 'Apprentice' star, revealed in March that she had packed up and headed to Ireland just days before the Republican president began his second term on Jan. 20.
DeGeneres has been keeping a relatively low profile after ending her talk show in 2022 amid allegations of a toxic workplace environment. She later headlined a final comedy tour across the U.S.
Last year, the couple purchased a 'part-time house' in the Cotswolds area of south central England where they planned to spend four months out of the year. But after Trump became president again, the couple made the permanent decision.
Calling her house 'absolutely beautiful,' DeGeneres, who came out as gay in 1997, said it was the first time the pair saw snow there this past winter.
'We love it here,' she added. 'Portia flew her horses here, and I have chickens, and we had sheep for about two weeks.'
The 'Ellen' star continued: 'We're just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture, everything you see is charming and it's just a simpler way of life. It's clean. Everything here is just better, the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.'
There may be more wedding plans underway, too, for the couple who first wed in 2008.
'The Baptist Church in America is trying to reverse gay marriage,' DeGeneres said in reference to a June call by southern Baptist delegates for a gay marriage ban. 'They're trying to literally stop it from happening in the future and possibly reverse it. Portia and I are already looking into it, and if they do that, we're going to get married here.'

Adam Carolla is not a fan of Ellen DeGeneres. 'Ellen has always been a mean person,' Carolla, 61, declared during his appearance on 'After Party with Emily Dashinsky' Tuesday. Mac Miller Posthumously Reaches A Milestone Thanks To One Of His Earliest Mixtapes

In the years since his death in 2018, many of Mac Miller's earliest projects have taken on new meaning. Several of his mixtapes have been re-released on various formats, and fans of the late hip-hop musician have shown their respect by not only streaming his collections, but purchasing them, especially on vinyl. One of Miller's decade-plus-old projects appears on several charts in the United Kingdom this week, and it helps him posthumously reach a notable milestone. I Love Life, Thank You Debuts on Multiple Charts I Love Life, Thank You launches on three rankings in the U.K. this frame, reaching all of them for the first time. The set opens at No. 36 on the Official Vinyl Albums chart and at No. 92 on the Official Physical Albums tally. Most impressively, I Love Life, Thank You starts its time on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart at No. 10. Mac Miller's Tenth Top 10 Album Miller earns his tenth top 10 hit on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart. Throughout his career — including the years following his unexpected death due to a drug overdose — the rapper has sent a dozen titles to the genre-specific list, with only two missing the highest tier. Among Miller's 10 top 10s on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums ranking is just a sole No. 1. He didn't reach the summit until January of this year, when Balloonerism, his most recent posthumous release, debuted in first place. Previously, several studio efforts by the talented musician — including Circles, Faces, and Watching Movies with the Sound Off — missed the throne by just one spot. Mac Miller's Mixtape is More Than a Decade Old Miller released I Love Life, Thank You in October 2011, when he was still relatively unknown. His sixth mixtape arrived about a month before his debut album, Blue Slide Park, which helped him break out as one of the most exciting new names in hip-hop. I Love Life, Thank You was recently issued on vinyl in several colors, and purchases of the collectible help it debut on charts in a number of countries where Miller's fanbase remains eager for anything with his name on it.

Trump Wants Everyone To Stop Talking About Epstein. So Why Doesn't He?

When CNN senior White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins asked President Trump about comments he'd just made on Air Force One about Jeffrey Epstein having 'stolen' women from him by poaching staff from Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, the frustrated president told Collins to 'be quiet.' "Mr. President, you said Jeffrey Epstein was stealing young women from your spa. Did that raise alarm bells for you?" Collins asked--an entirely reasonable question based on the president's own words. He brought it on himself. In Scotland, Trump--sitting alongside British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for a press availability intended to focus on Trump's tariffs and trade-- the president had been asked by reporters about his relationship with Epstein. 'That's such old history, very easy to explain,' he responded. 'But I don't want to waste your time by explaining it.' 'I don't want to waste your time by explaining it' A politician gifted enough to be elected president of the United States twice would have no problem deflecting a question like this and getting back onto more favorable political ground, like talking about the subject he'd come to talk about. Instead, Trump decided he did, after all, 'want to waste your time by explaining it,' and more than that, he wanted to throw more fuel on the fire by saying something newsworthy enough to driven an entire night of prime time cable news debate and ensure that Epstein would dominate news coverage for yet another day. 'He did something that was inappropriate,' Trump said of Epstein, and not referring to the sexual trafficking or abuse of under-age girls. 'He hired help and I said, 'Don't ever do that again,'' Trump said of Epstein and his interest in apparently under-age staff at Mar-a-Lago. 'He stole people that worked for me. I said, 'Don't ever do that again.' He did it again, and I threw him out of the place, persona non grata.' 'I threw him out and that was it. I'm glad I did, if you want to know the truth,' Trump added. 'This is primarily a self-inflicted story, and a self-inflicted wound' Is Trump really tired of talking about his well-documented and years-long relationship with Epstein, or not? And if not, why not? On CNN's The Source Wednesday night, host Kaitlan Collins said Trump allies felt 'surprise that they had not been able to get a handle on (the Epstein story), that this has been over a month of something that has been dogging the president.' 'This is primarily a self-inflicted story, and a self-inflicted wound, that they are dealing with, and they are struggling to get out of it,' said CNN political analyst Maggie Haberman, describing 'fatigue' among people close to the president. 'But not just fatigue with Democrats talking about it, or podcasters talking about it, or Joe Rogan talking about it, the president himself keeps talking about it,' noting that, amazingly, Trump had responded to a question about Russia by shifting to Epstein--and not in a small way, but by providing "new information that had not been heard before. Is Trump finally 'unraveling'? The more Trump talks, the more he gives journalists new leads to pursue, and makes it justifiable for reporters to produce new stories about Epstein. He is literally driving a story he wants to go away. In the process, he's contradicting himself, changing elements of a story he's talked about for years, and creating new questions to be answered. He's also using language that itself is newsworthy just by being strange or unsettling, like saying he'd never had 'the privilege' of visiting Epstein's private island. To some, the inability of the president to simply find something else to talk about suggests a mental decline, in the same way he simply cannot stop long-winded diatribes about the dangers of windmills. Weeks earlier, Trump shocked his supporters by turning on them, accusing them of falling "for the "bulls--t" of the Epstein files story and insisting he no longer wanted the backing of these "weaklings." That accusation led former Trump ally Lev Parnas, a Florida businessman and former associate of Rudy Giuliani, to conclude that Trump was 'unraveling.'
