The Hong Kong entertainment scene is in mourning following the death of the renowned martial artist Tong Gai (Tang Chia, 唐佳). He passed away at age 88 after falling from a building yesterday afternoon (23rd June 2025, Monday).
According to reports, police were called to the scene after an elderly man fell from a building in Tsim Sha Tsui. The man was pronounced dead on the scene. He was later identified as 88-year-old Wong Tong, better known by his stage name Tong Gai. The veteran martial artist was known for his work as a martial arts choreographer in classic kung fu movies like 'Shaolin Prince' and 'One Armed Swordsman'. He was also the husband of veteran HK actress Suet Nay (雪妮).
Police are still investigating the case, but sources say Tong Gai had been distressed by personal challenges recently, which led to him suffering from depression. While there was no suicide note found, it's believed the actor had taken his own life because he fell from the rooftop of the building. The case is now being treated as a suicide case by local authorities, and the cause of death is still pending the autopsy report.
Tong Gai's career as a martial artist began when he became a kung fu student of Simon Yuen Siu Tien. After mastering the art, he became a martial arts instructor and later a martial arts and stunt choreographer for major production houses, including Shaw Brothers. Tong Gai married actress Suet Nay in 1969, and the couple is said to have a loving relationship. The pair have two sons.
Tong Gai's family has yet to speak on his death. Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Stuntman Association President and actor Chin Ka Lok (钱嘉乐) confirmed Tong Gai's death. He also said the association would do its best to assist the late star's family in funeral preparation. Fans and those in the entertainment industry have since taken to social media to share their condolences and tributes to Tong Gai.
We extend our condolences to Suet Nay and Tong Gai's loved ones on their loss. May they find solace during this difficult time.

Former TVB actor Johnny Tang, 58, opens up about his life with 3 girlfriends

Hong Kong actor Johnny Tang indeed has a colourful love life. Photo: China Press Hong Kong actor Johnny Tang Siu-chuen may not be married, but his love life is anything but ordinary. He's in a relationship with three women – Carmen and Cherry, both of whom he has dated for over 20 years, and a newer flame Nana, China Press reported. In a recent interview with Hong Kong media, Tang, 58, opened up about juggling three relationships. The former TVB actor called his lifestyle chaotic, saying: 'A normal household can go crazy with just one wife – I have three! There are so many voices around me. 'If I fall sick, one suggests acupuncture, another recommends Chinese herbal medicine, and the third insists on Western treatment. In the end, I just take everything.' As for what he looks for in a partner, Tang said personality tops the list. 'Looks are secondary. Younger women may be prettier, but many (from my experience) have bad tempers. Older ones are generally easier to get along with,' he explained. Tang said he tries to treat all three women equally but hesitated when asked if he loved them all the same. 'Can I skip this question? They will read this interview. You know how it is,' he said with a laugh. The Colourful Life (2001) star then revealed that he has arranged separate homes for each of his three partners in the Wan Chai district, making it easier for him to rotate visits. He also shared that he maintains full transparency in his relationships – his phone has no password, and he enables location tracking so his partners know his whereabouts. For the record, Tang and his three siblings inherited a family fortune worth HK$1.5bil (RM807.6mil) in 2019 following their mother's passing. When asked whether he was worried about the possibility of an inheritance dispute arising among his three girlfriends in the future, Tang said he's prepared for the possibility, 'I'm a good judge of character, so money-hungry people don't stay around me. Even if I misjudge, I've already made my preparations,' he added.

Superstar Jacky Cheung gets lesson in humility from guard

NOT everyone recognises Hong Kong superstar Jacky Cheung (pic), as the singer recounts being denied entry to his own concert in Macau, reported China Press. A security guard stopped the 63-year-old when he tried to enter the Galaxy Arena venue in Macau last week and demanded Cheung show identification indicating that he was a performer. Stunned, the 'God of Songs' pointed at a poster nearby to show that he was to perform there that evening, but the guard would not relent. 'I sincerely think he was just being very professional at his job,' Cheung said. Apparently, this was not the first time security personnel failed to recognise him. Cheung was previously denied entry at one of his concerts in mainland China. 'Don't think of yourself as a legend. Instead, see yourself as a new performer every day. Only then can you improve. 'This experience taught me to continue practising singing and learning how to do the splits. Do not worry, everyone. Jacky Cheung will not stop and will keep on working and improving,' he said. > A woman in Sibu who just wanted to buy a Nyonya meal worth RM3.50 ended up having RM17,530 from her bank account stolen, the daily also reported. She called the number on the advertisement and ordered five sets of the meal deal. The caterer later sent her a WhatsApp link to redeem vouchers worth RM30. When she clicked on the link, her phone suddenly switched off. By the time she restarted her phone, RM17,530 had been transferred out of her bank account in five transactions.
