What Is ‘Aura Farming'? This Tween Will Show You.
The video has been overlaid with various songs, imitated by countless creators, commented on by celebrities and, most recently, led to Dika being named a tourism ambassador for Riau, the province in Indonesia where he lives.
While many of the videos featuring Dika have amassed millions of views around the world, his popularity in the United States — and the explosion in use of the phrase 'aura farming' — has come despite relatively little information being available about him or the race he competes in.
What is aura farming?
According to the website Know Your Meme, the expression was popularized in 2024 largely in reference to anime characters and various celebrities. It generally refers to someone who does something repetitive to look cool and build, as Gen Alpha would say, aura.
Dika, who seems preternaturally calm on the bow of a thin boat, dressed in black and wearing sunglasses, uses a series of repetitive movements in his dance, making him a perfect fit for the term.

This Resilient North Carolina Mountain Town Is Small, Scenic, And Well Worth The Drive
Here's how to plan a trip to Canton. Hurricane Helene did not spare the small town of Canton, North Carolina. The September 2024 storm swept through this part of Haywood County, and Canton, like other communities in Western North Carolina, experienced unimaginable flooding. Some of the homes and businesses along the Pigeon River, which flows through the downtown area, were destroyed or severely damaged. Canton, as well as the neighboring towns of Maggie Valley and Waynesville, did reopen in the months following, and responsible tourism is one of the best ways to support the area. Whether you're taking a day trip from Asheville—about a 30-minute drive away—or spending a long weekend in the area, a visit to this historic mill town will leave you enthralled with its charm and beauty. Explore the well-stocked shelves at Blue Moon Books, pick up some baked goods at Grateful Table Cafe & Provisions, and hike along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Or, you can align your trip with the longest-running Labor Day celebration in the South, Canton's largest annual event. Interested in planning a trip this year? Here are our picks for the best things to do in Canton. What to Do Peruse an Independent Bookstore One of the marks of a great Southern small town is a bookstore. While walking around downtown Canton, you'll spot Blue Moon Books, a used bookstore with not only a great selection of reads, but book signings, cozy corners, and fun merch you can take home as a Canton souvenir. 109 Main St, Canton, NC 28716 Celebrate Labor Day The Canton Labor Day Festival has been an annual affair since 1906. With a parade, live music, a handcraft expo, and food trucks, the two-day event is your chance to see Canton at its liveliest. This year, the festival lineup of musical acts includes headliner Craig Morgan, Outlaw Whiskey, and Balsam Range, and attendees will also get to experience the car cruise-in, dock jumping, and a dedicated kid zone with face painting and a splash pad. Pick Your Own Fruit and Veggies A visit to The Ten Acre Garden is something the whole family will enjoy. Depending on the season, visitors are welcome to pick their own sunflowers, blackberries, strawberries, and a selection of veggies growing in the garden. On select dates, the farm also offers hay wagon farm tours, goat yoga, and outdoor painting in the garden. 148 Chambers Farm Ln, Canton, NC 28716 Go Waterfall Chasing Waterfalls are one of Western North Carolina's most stunning natural features, so you'll likely encounter a few on your trip. To combine a waterfall sighting with a short hike, venture to Moore Cove Waterfall. Located in the Pisgah National Forest, off the Blue Ridge Parkway, the waterfall is a short drive from Canton, and the hike is less than a mile (or around 1.5 miles round-trip). Spend an Afternoon on the Lake Although Lake Logan was greatly impacted by Hurricane Helene, it has since reopened to guests and visitors, and day passes as well as annual passes are available for purchase. With a $20 day pass ($10 for kids ages 12 to 17 and free for those 11 and under), you can access the hiking trails, picnic areas, lake, boats, paddles, and life jackets. Fishing passes are $30 per adult. 25 Wormy Chestnut Lane, Canton, NC, 28716 Where to Eat and Drink Start Your Morning at Papertown Coffee No matter what your ideal day in Canton includes, it's a good idea to kick things off with a caffeinated beverage from Papertown Coffee. The independent coffee shop's drink menu features all the classics—cold brew, a matcha latte, and an iced Americano—and you can pair your drink with a breakfast burrito, bagel, or croissant. 457 Main St, Canton, NC 28716 Have Lunch at Grateful Table Cafe & Provisions After working up an appetite hiking or paddling around Lake Logan, head to Grateful Table Cafe & Provisions. As its name implies, the Main Street staple is both somewhere to dine and a place you can pick up a variety of essentials—everything from pantry goods to produce. Food is served from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and the menu features items like a taco salad, toasted sandwiches, and a curried chicken salad. 473 Main St, Canton, NC 28716 Fill Up on Southern Delicacies for Dinner Downtown Canton is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, and there's nowhere better to get a glimpse of the town's past than Southern Porch. Located inside the Imperial Hotel building, which dates back to 1876, the restaurant has indoor seating and a porch and patio. Choose from the likes of barbeque, hushpuppies, and shrimp and grits, or go for the Carolina cheesesteak or the ramp bacon jam burger. 449 Main St, Canton, NC 28716 Where to Stay Unwind at a Mountain Resort If you're searching for peace and quiet, book one of the 15 guest units at Springdale Resort. Formerly a country club, the resort has an 18-hole golf course, a heated pool, nature trails, a fitness center, and two different dining venues for guests to enjoy. Those traveling with a larger family can reserve one of the spacious villas, while smaller groups will enjoy the cozier Sycamore Cottage. 200 Golfwatch Rd, Canton, NC 28716 Rent a Cabin Renting a standalone cabin is another popular option in the Canton area. This family-friendly cabin sleeps up to eight guests and has a hot tub overlooking the creek (not to mention, amazing mountain views). Or, go completely off-grid at this sustainable treehouse that sits on 23 acres shared by a herd of Highland cows. Read the original article on Southern Living Solve the daily Crossword

Netflix's Best New Kids Show Has High Audience Scores, Is Adorable
My Melody and Kuromi Well, now that my kids are getting older, I am attempting to find them the occasional show to watch with our limited screen time rules that is not Paw Patrol. Sorry pups, I love you but…I've had enough. One new offering on Netflix is the best new kids show that the streamer has offered in a while, and you may want to check it out. It's the adorable My Melody and Kuromi, a Japanese stop-motion series. The movie is based on Sanrio characters, the company creating hundreds of 'kawaii' characters over the years including the global icon, Hello Kitty. Here, My Melody is a rabbit that was originally created in 1975 and has returned for this brand new series literally 50 years later. Man, 1975 does not feel like 50 years ago, does it? I'm getting old. Kuromi, the other rabbit, was originally conceived in 2005. Here's the synopsis of the series: 'My Melody opens a cake shop in Mariland. After encountering a magical heart in the forest, strange things start happening around her. Meanwhile, Kuromi's Japanese sweets shop across the street is always empty. Kuromi searches for the secret to My Melody's cakes. My Melody and Kuromi work hard to prepare for a sweets-making contest judged by the world-famous pastry chef Pistachio. However, no one knows that this will lead to an incident that threatens the fate of Mariland.' My Melody and Kuromi The show has debuted at #4 on Netflix's top 10 list in the US, which has been watching more and more Asian programming, usually Japanese and Korean, in recent years. While the show does not yet have any critic or audience scores in on Rotten Tomatoes, if you head over to IMDB, the show is currently clocking in at an 8.3/10, extremely high in the context of that site. For instance, my son's beloved Paw Patrol is a 6.1/10. Spidey and His Amazing Friends a 5.8/10. Peppa Pig a 6.3/10. A show that bests it? That would be the legendary Bluey, with a 9.3/10. But I mean, you're just not going to beat Bluey. My Melody and Kuromi is an easy watch, with season 1 being 12 episodes that are 11-15 minutes each for breezy viewing and holding attention spans. This is a TV-PG series, not TV-G, though I'm genuinely not sure why. The first episode has Kuromi stealing ingredients from a rival so I mean, crime? I don't know. Check it out, it's very cute and a good family series so far. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.

Astronomer enlists Gwyneth Paltrow as 'temporary spokesperson' after Coldplay kiss cam scandal in hilarious video
Paltrow, of course, was married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for more than 12 years. Gwyneth Paltrow has just possibly made the cameo of the year. The Oscar winner pops up as a "temporary spokesperson" in a surprise video shared Friday to the social media accounts of Astronomer, the tech company at the center of all of the viral Coldplay kiss cam drama. In the video, which features the caption, "Thank you for your interest in Astronomer," Paltrow is shown sitting at a table, hands clasped, donning a light blue button-down shirt. "Hi, I'm Gwyneth Paltrow," she begins. "I've been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer. Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common ones." At this, a question is typed on screen: "OMG What the actual f." "Yes," Paltrow deadpans, adding, "Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow, unifying the experience of running data ML and AI pipelines at scale." "We've been thrilled so many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation," she adds. The tongue-in-cheek video comes after a jumbotron appearance went very awry at Coldplay's show July 16 and promptly captured the zeitgeist online. In the viral moment, a man and woman later identified as Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR executive Kristin Cabot could be seen canoodling as they watched the concert. When the co-workers realized they were on the jumbotron, they quickly separated, with Byron ducking out of the picture and Cabot covering her face and then turning her back. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin buttoned the moment by telling the crowd, "All right, come on, you're okay. Uh-oh, what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy." The scene and its rapid fallout naturally blew up online, and as the Paltrow video alludes to, Astronomer has received much press attention in its wake. Both Byron and Cabot have also since resigned from the company. Continuing the bit in the video, the question "How is your social media holding—" pops up, as Paltrow cuts in again with, "Yes! There is still room available at our Beyond Analytics event in September." She concludes, "We will now be returning to what we do best: Delivering game-changing results for our customers. Thank you for your interest in Astronomer." The video has an extra-meta twist that makes it even more amusing: Paltrow was of course married to Coldplay's Martin from 2003 to 2016, and the two share two children together, Apple and Moses. Entertainment Weekly has reached out to reps for Paltrow and Astronomer for additional comment. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly Solve the daily Crossword
