‘Gou Li Hao Xi' – Groundbreaking musical explores mental health with warmth and heart
Blending vibrant choreography, soul-stirring melodies, and human-centred narratives, Gou Li Hao Xi seeks to destigmatise emotional struggles such as anxiety, depression, and burnout—issues still often unspoken within Asian communities. Instead of a sombre tone, the musical embraces joy, compassion, and hope to encourage healing and connection.
At the heart of the show lies a simple yet resonant message: 'Take the first step, and love will be there—every day is a new beginning.'
This 2025 production marks KK Wong's first role as executive producer, and sees the return of acclaimed director Ryon Lee to the stage after 15 years. Music is helmed by celebrated duo Jiahui Wu and Chan Yi Yi, with each composition and movement crafted to offer solace and strength to those battling emotional turmoil.
The star-studded cast includes Cheryl Lee, Orange Tan, Rickman Chia, Loo Aye Keng, Remon Lim, Wayne Cai, Kopi Lim, Reno Lee, and Terry Ong—who also co-produces the show. Adding fresh energy are four rising stars—Richard Tan, Olio Tan, Andrew Lim, and JY Lim—selected through a nationwide audition.
'In a time where emotional exhaustion is a growing concern, we need art that heals,' said KK Wong. 'Through musical theatre, we hope to spark conversations, deepen empathy, and offer audiences both entertainment and comfort.'
In a show of social commitment, part of the proceeds will be donated to the Life Line Association Malaysia, a national mental health support hotline.

Yesterday (1st July 2025, Tuesday), Oasis' Liam Gallagher received backlash after posting a racially insensitive tweet. This happened ahead of the South Korea stop of Oasis' long-awaited reunion tour. Unsurprisingly, netizens were outraged, calling out the 53-year-old singer for being racist and expressing their disappointment. Following a series of tweets posted by the artist throughout the week, which were mostly of random words and phrases, Gallagher had posted a tweet reading 'Chingchong'. The word has long been associated as a slur, mocking the language and appearance of East Asian people. Netizens have been calling the rock legend out for being racially insensitive ahead of his world tour, which includes shows in Korea and Japan in October. Twitter user @/alivedemo comments, 'I hope you understand why many fans like me are disappointed by what happened. You may not have intended to offend anyone by using those slurs, but the fact is you did'. Additionally, netizens have also called out other fans who have accepted Gallagher's apology on behalf of Asian individuals, to which the slur is associated. Actor Marcus Chin bleeds in mouth during live broadcast of charity show
Photo: Marcus Chin/Facebook Singaporean actor-host-DJ Marcus Chin (pic) shocked some viewers after he was seen bleeding in the mouth during a live charity show on June 29. The 71-year-old, who had a heart attack in October 2024, was the opening speaker of the Resilient Hearts: Singapore Heart Foundation 55th Anniversary Charity Show 2025. Blood was seen on his teeth and at the corners of his mouth while he was delivering his speech. Chin, who underwent two operations after the heart attack, said in an interview on June 30 that he had been taking two antiplatelet drugs since the heart surgery. He told Chinese-language newspaper Lianhe Zaobao that he believed the bleeding was a side effect of the drugs. 'After taking the medicine, my gums would bleed from time to time, sometimes once or twice a week, especially when I am under a lot of pressure,' he said. 'I was the first one to appear at the beginning of the live show and had to memorise the script, so I felt a little stressed.' He said he realised he had bled only after he was asked about it by his relatives, friends and colleagues. 'We had rehearsals for two days before the show and everything was fine, but it happened during the live broadcast, which really annoyed me,' he added. Chin praised the cameraman for reacting swiftly after blood was seen in his mouth. 'The camera was supposed to take a close-up of my face, but the lens was quickly pulled away after blood was seen,' he said. Chin said that his attending cardiologist has advised him to seek treatment from a dentist to alleviate the situation. In addition to bleeding gums, his teeth also feel sore from time to time after he takes the medicine. 'It is now very tough for me to sing,' he said. 'It is difficult to sing high notes, especially when my gums are sore.' Chin said he has always been very careful with his diet, but added that he has no time to exercise due to his work schedule. He is a co-host on Love 972's radio programme The Breakfast Quartet, which has been nominated for Best Radio Programme at the Star Awards 2025 on July 6. He is also a nominee for Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes. 'Before I was hospitalised for the heart attack, I controlled my diet, such as by eating durians occasionally and char kway teow only once in a long while,' he said. 'I'm also the type of patient who takes his medication regularly.' Chin said he would focus on looking after his health while pursuing his career in the future.
