Morrissey's statement over lack of support from industry
Opening up about the reason behind canceling his Stockholm concert, Morrissey went on to state, 'The pain at not reaching Stockholm this week is horrific for the band and crew.'
He further wrote, 'We dream of Stockholm, Reykjavik, Trondheim, Helsinki, Aarhus … but there is no financial support from imaginary record labels to get us to such places.'
The singer continued to explain that the travel expenses have taken a toll on him and his group. Morrissey revealed, 'We are travel-weary beyond belief. We pray to God that someone, somewhere, can help us reach Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark … where we have thousands upon thousands of friends, yet absolutely zero music industry support.'
Following the cancelation of the show, the fans who had purchased tickets have received a message regarding the collection of refunds.
Elsewhere in his statement on the website, the Everyday is Like Sunday crooner talked about the contrasting elements of his career. The legendary musician said that their ticket sales were at an all-time high, yet they lacked backing from radio and labels.
He elaborated, 'No label will release our music, no radio will play our music … and yet our ticket sales are sensational.'
Meanwhile, the musician's comments about the state of his art in 2025 come amid Morrissey's tensions with a label over his unreleased album, Bonfire of Teenagers. The tracks were recorded between 2020 and 2021, and were set to be released in 2023, yet they remain shelved.

R. Madhavan's National Award-Winning Film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect Turns 3 – A Tribute to Truth and Triumph

Reflecting on the film's impact over the past three year, R. Madhavan responded saying, 'WE made it happen bro… with God's grace.' read more Three years ago, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect blasted its way into Indian cinema, not just as a biopic, but as a landmark. A deeply personal and courageous project, the film marked R. Madhavan's transformation from actor to auteur. Today, as Rocketry celebrates its third anniversary, it stands tall as a timeless tribute to truth, science, and the spirit of resilience. Based on the life of aerospace scientist Nambi Narayanan, Rocketry wasn't just about telling a story, it was about reclaiming one. R. Madhavan didn't just play the titular role; he wrote, directed, and produced the film, bringing an almost obsessive commitment to authenticity. His performance was transformative, but it was his decision to take creative and narrative ownership that redefined his legacy. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD More than a film, Rocketry was an act of justice. It shone a light on a man wronged by the very system he served. And in doing so, it brought long-overdue recognition to Nambi Narayanan's immense contributions to India's space program. Behind the scenes, R. Madhavan and producer Vijay Moolan made the critical decision to rewrite Google's algorithmic history, ensuring the truth about Narayanan rose above years of misinformation. Reflecting on the film's impact over the past three year, R. Madhavan responded saying, 'WE made it happen bro… with God's grace.' Released in multiple languages and celebrated globally, the film struck a chord with both audiences and critics for its sincerity, emotional depth, and purpose. Its impact was rightfully acknowledged when Rocketry was honoured with the National Award for Best Feature Film at the 69th National Film Awards. And R. Madhavan's momentum hasn't slowed. After delivering a powerful turn in Kesari Chapter 2, he's now gearing up for his highly anticipated role as Shrirenu in Aap Jaisa Koi, premiering July 11 on Netflix. As we look back at Rocketry three years on, one thing is clear—R. Madhavan isn't just a national treasure. He's a storyteller with purpose, passion, and the courage to change narratives, both on screen and beyond.

Why can't a heroine in a film fighting for justice be named Janaki, asks Kerala HC

Kochi: The Kerala High Court, for the second time in a week, on Monday questioned the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) over its objection to the use of the name 'Janaki' in the film starring Union Minister of State for Tourism Suresh Gopi. Noting that the protagonist, named Janaki, is a victim of sexual assault seeking justice in court of law, the High Court orally pointed out that "she is not a rapist. If a rapist is named as Rama, Krishna, Janaki, then I can understand. At least we can appreciate that you should not name that character with God's name. Here, she is a heroine of the film, fighting for the cause of justice". Film production company Cosmos Entertainments had, last Wednesday (June 25), approached the Kerala High Court alleging unreasonable delay by the CBFC in granting the censor certificate to Gopi's film. The film was to have been released on June 27 but with the CBFC opposing 'Janaki' in the title, it's been held up and on Monday, the Deputy Solicitor General, appearing for the CBFC, submitted that the current title of the film violates guidelines issued by the Central government, pursuant to Section 5B(2) of the Cinematograph Act. But the court, however, found the argument prima facie unsustainable and orally pointed out that in India, most of the names are attributed to God, whether it is Hindus, Christians, or Muslims. "80 per cent of names have religious connotations, like Ahammed, Anthony, Kesavan, (CBFC) cannot dictate to the directors and artistes which name should be given or which story should be told. That is the freedom of an artiste. You cannot interfere with that. It is not absolute, but you do not have a convincing reason to say how this name Janaki will be contemptuous to racial, religious or other groups," it stated. While posting the case for Wednesday, the court orally directed the DSG to file a detailed statement so as to give a clear picture as to why the name 'Janaki' cannot be used in the film. In a related development, on Monday, representatives belonging to the various Malayalam film bodies, including the FEFKA, the AMMA, and the ATMA (the body of those in the television industry), staged a protest before the CBFC regional office in the state capital. Popular director Shaji Kailas, who has directed numerous memorable films, said it's strange that needless controversies are being created. "If this is the case with regard to a name, then my name also should be changed. Really fail to gauge what the problem is with the CBFC," said Kailas. Renjith, producer of the blockbuster film "Thudarum", starring superstar Mohanlal and presently running to packed houses, said: 'It's not just those associated with the film industry who should protest, the people at large should join in to protest against this highhandedness." Jayan Cherthala, Vice President in the adhoc committee of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes, said if we are going to allow this irrational attitude, then there will be no end to this unnecessary interference. "No one should forget that the poster and the teaser of this film have been cleared and have been released for a while now. This is in no way acceptable," said Cherthala.
