
Man denies raping lover's daughter
Azman Hasim, 61, was charged with raping the girl, who was 12 years and four months old then, at a house in Taman Seraya last year.
The man, who runs a nasi lemak business, is charged under Section 375 (g) of the Penal Code, which provides a maximum jail sentence of 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
In the same court, the girl's biological mother, a 37-year-old security guard, pleaded not guilty to a charge of abetting in the rape at the same place and date, Bernama reported.
No bail was allowed.

Emergency services were called to the Darling Downs Zoo, 110 km southwest of Brisbane, around 8.30 am on Sunday following reports that a woman in her 50s had been attacked by an animal. The woman, an employee of the zoo, suffered a significant arm injury and was airlifted to a Brisbane hospital in a stable condition. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that the animal involved in the incident was a lion and that the woman lost an arm. The zoo said in a statement posted on social media on Sunday afternoon that the woman was watching zookeepers working in the carnivore precinct when the animal grabbed her by the arm. It said that at no stage did the animal leave its enclosure, and there was no risk to the public. The zoo said that the animal involved would not be put down or punished in any way. "Police and Workplace Health and Safety personnel are investigating this incident and have been onsite all morning. The zoo is working with them to establish how this incident occurred," it said. In a statement, the Palace emphasised that the video, circulated via several TikTok accounts, is false and constitutes a misuse of His Royal Highness' image for fraudulent and deceptive purposes. 'The public is advised not to share the video, believe any links or information it contains, and to report any suspicious content to the authorities immediately,' read a post on the official Facebook page of the Pahang Sultanate.

(Rawpixel pic) PETALING JAYA : A school teacher was arrested after he was alleged to have molested a 16-year-old female student with an intellectual disability in Rembau on May 5. Rembau police chief Hasani Hussain said the student, who is enrolled in the Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI), lodged a report at 5.15pm yesterday, alleging she was molested by the 36-year-old male teacher, Bernama reported. Hasani added that the incident is believed to have occurred after the student had completed a cross-country run and was experiencing some pain in her leg. 'According to the student, the teacher massaged her legs, starting from the soles of her feet to her calves and then to her thighs. 'At this point, she said she felt the teacher had touched a sensitive area,' Hasani said in a statement today. He said the student initially confided in a friend and later informed another teacher about the incident on June 30. Hasani said police detained the suspect at around 10pm last night, adding that the man denied the allegations. 'The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,' he said.
