Last call for Pendine Young Musician of Wales competition
The competition is open to instrumentalists and singers aged under 21 as of January 1 this year, who are either born or living in Wales, or Welsh nationals living abroad.
Professor Paul Mealor, royal composer and co-founder of the competition, said: "It's not too late for young musicians to enter the competition – there's still a few weeks left.
"We've already had a load of entries but we want to make sure we reach out to rising stars in every corner of Wales.
"If there's any young instrumentalists or vocalists who want to have a chance to win thousands of pounds in prize money and to perform live on BBC Radio Cymru, they need to get their skates on."
The competition is funded by the festival's headline sponsor, Pendine Park, through the Pendine Arts and Community Trust.
The winner will receive the silver Pendine Trophy and a £2,000 cash prize.
The judging panel includes Professor Helena Gaunt, principal of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama; internationally acclaimed soprano Rebecca Evans CBE; and Alun Jones, the festival's executive vice-chair and former principal of Chetham's School of Music.
Mario Kreft MBE, co-founder of the competition alongside Professor Mealor, said: "After the success of the inaugural competition last year, we're really excited about the prospects for the 2025 contest.
"Our aim is to encourage and foster young, emerging talent and the Pendine Young Musician of Wales competition has all the makings of a very prestigious event.
"I think in years to come it will be one of the premier competitions for young musicians and will hopefully assist them and propel them in their careers.
"From our perspective it totally fits in with our ethos as an inclusive, inter-generational care group."
To enter, applicants must upload a video or audio performance and complete an application form by the deadline of 5pm on Friday, July 4.
If under 18, entrants must have permission from a parent or teacher.
Submissions will be judged anonymously, and selected candidates will be invited to perform a 10-minute programme in the semi-final.
Four will advance to the final round.

Speaking to Mark Wogan on his Spooning podcast, Alex explained that she had initially been contacted by The One Show producers in 2010, after then-hosts Adrian Chiles and Christine Lampard had both decided to quit. She explained that, at first, she hadn't taken the phone call about the job very seriously, not realising that she had been shortlisted as a potential presenter. However, when the voice on the other end of the phone informed Alex she was being considered as a potential presenter, she decided that it was someone "winding her up," and put the phone down. She recalled how she and Jason were booked into a posh London hotel at first, with neither of them having a permanent residence in London at the time: "Jason and I didn't know anybody in London when we came, so we were like two students ... "We lived in this hotel in Sloane Square, which was so weird. And I remember that shepherd's pie was £37, and we couldn't believe how expensive it was. We were living this funny life where we didn't know anybody. But it was her rapport with Jason's Friday afternoon stand-in, Chris Evans that really helped her find her feet, she says: "I still have a real soft spot for him. And he, actually, was the one that taught me everything I know." After Jason left the show, Chris made it his business to help Alex feel at home in the new London media world she had found herself in: "We just got on like a house on fire and had the best time. And just every Friday, we'd go out after the show. That's when I sort of settled into London, I think," she recalled.

He took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday (July 2) to share his movements in the Welsh capital, sharing with fans he planned on trying a Welshcake. Posting on the social media platform, Arthurs said: "Welshcakes. Yes or No?" Absolutely yes and get them from Fabulous Welshcakes opposite Cardiff Castle! Another added: "Yes Bone! They are mega." While a third person wrote: "100% yes." The Oasis guitarist was quick to take fans up on their recommendation. Not long after Arthur's initial X post, he wrote several others. The first said: "Welshcakes. Hot or cold??" Followed by: "Welshcakes. With a cup of tea or on their own?" He then posted a photo of a packet of Fabulous Welshcakes with a hot drink, commenting: "Here we go." Arthurs even went on to post a rating on X, awarding the Welshcakes a 7/10. One fan, commenting about the Oasis band members' Welshcake discovery, said: "Surreal I bet, brother. Glad you are there." Another posted: "YES that's what I'm talking about. Enjoy." This person said: "Never been a fan of Welsh cakes but the ones from fabulous in Cardiff aren't bad at all." While a fourth, recommended trying somewhere else, adding: "Cardiff Bakestones in Cardiff Market, you need them fresh off the griddle rather than from a packet." Fabulous Welshcakes described as "the best ever" by customers Fabulous Welshcakes has two locations in Cardiff - one in Mermaid Quay and the other opposite Cardiff Castle. Both stores boast a 4.8 rating on Tripadvisor, with the bakery described as "the best Welsh cakes you can buy" and "10/10" by customers. One person, posting on Tripadvisor, said: "Absolutely delicious, the best ever! RECOMMENDED READING: "Had the traditional and also the chocolate chip ones. Best with a cup of tea! Highly recommend." While another visitor commented: "I am so very happy that I picked this place for a bakery during my visit to Cardiff. "They cook the cakes right there and they are yummy. I actually went there twice. I'd recommend it 100%."
