Watch: Furious Shreyas Iyer Abuses Shashank Singh, Refuses Handshake

Shashank Singh left Shreyas Iyer furious after his poor running during a high-stakes Qualifier 1 clash between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians.
Shreyas Iyer played the starring role as Punjab Kings recovered from an abject defeat in the first qualifier to edge past Mumbai Indians on Sunday night and punch their ticket for the IPL 2025 final. Iyer, the PBKS captain, slammed an unbeaten 87 off 41 in a successful chase of 204 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
While he looked incredibly calm after hitting the match-winning six, avoiding exaggerated celebrations, he did lose his cool after spotting teammate Shashank Singh during the ritual post-match handshake.
Iyer fired expletives at Shashank and asked his teammate to not engage with him.
Bsdk muh mat lagna mere bc. Blud Shreyas Iyer literally said to Shashank Singh 😭🤣 pic.twitter.com/tnMyPKVrda — Professor Sahab (@ProfesorSahab) June 1, 2025
So what triggered the reaction?
Well, Shashank had a major role.
With PBKS seemingly taking control of the chase as the contest entered the death overs, Shashank ended up taking it too easy as was evident when he jogged for a single that resulted in him being run out and thus giving MI an opening.
The dismissal happened off the fourth delivery of the 17th over as PBKS needed 35 to win off 21 deliveries with six wickets remaining. Having driven a low full toss from Trent Boult to mid-on, Shashank was ambling towards the non-striker's end with an alert Hardik Pandya spotted the opportunity and made a direct hit.
TV umpire was pressed into action and one replay was enough to conclude Shashank, despite his late reaction to speed up, was well short of his crease.
However, Iyer, in red-hot form, ensured the dismissal didn't shift the momentum as he singlehandedly took PBKS over the line. This is the first time that PBKS have qualified for the final since 2014 when they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders and were known as Kings XI Punjab.
PBKS will now have just a day to recover from the contest that went late into the night thanks to a rain-delayed start before facing a red-hot RCB in the title clash at the same venue.

India spinner Sai Kishore joins Surrey for two-match stint in County Championship

Surrey [UK], July 7 (ANI): Indian left-arm finger-spinner Sai Kishore has signed for Surrey in Division One of the County Championship. He will be available for the two first-class games at the end of July. The lanky left-arm spinner will feature in Surrey's next two County Championship matches in which the Kookaburra ball will be used. The fixtures include trips to Scarborough to square off against Yorkshire (July 22-25) and then to Chester-le-Street to face Durham (July 29-August 1). If Kishore is named in Surrey's final XI against Yorkshire, he could come up against his former Chennai Super Kings teammate Ruturaj Gaikwad. 'I'm really excited to be joining Surrey for the next two County Championship matches. Surrey is one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, and I have heard great things about the set-up from lots of different people in the game,' Kishore said in a statement released by Surrey. Alec Stewart, Surrey's High-Performance advisor, said, 'I'm delighted to bring the highly rated Sai Kishore into our squad for the next two Kookaburra games. All the reports I have received from people I respect in the Indian game have spoken highly of him. His four-day record for Tamil Nadu is very good, and he brings leadership experience to the group.' His upcoming stint will mark his first appearance in the County Championship. The 28-year-old, who has represented India in three T20Is, has been on a steady diet of the shortest format of cricket. He turned out to be the second-highest wicket-taker among spinners with 19 scalps in the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) while featuring for the Gujarat Titans. On Sunday, he captained his side, Tiruppur Tamizhans, to their maiden title win in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2025. During his campaign in the IPL 2025, Kishore impressed New Zealand's decorated spinner and former skipper Daniel Vettori. 'Sai Kishore has been the pick [of the spinners]. He's been fantastic, and I think he was a guy we looked very closely at in the auction and wanted him in the team. He's very brave, his ability to turn the ball and change his pace and angle from over and around the wicket,' Vettori said at a press conference during the tournament. 'I think it sort of sets up a template for other spinners to see how you can actually compete and succeed, and he's done it on good batting wickets as well. I know he came to Hyderabad and bowled exceptionally well. I think he's been incredibly impressive,' he added. While Kishore has caught the attention of the world with his robust spells in the T20s, his red-ball numbers stand out as well. He has scythed 192 wickets in 46 first-class games at an average of 23.51 while maintaining an economy rate of 2.76. In the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season, Kishore finished as the highest wicket-taker with 53 scalps in nine matches at 18.52. (ANI)

Hardik Pandya (Traded from Gujarat Titans) 1 / 10 Gujarat Titans traded their title-winning captain Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians for Rs 15 crore in an all-cash deal ahead of the IPL 2024 season. Pandya returned to MI, his original franchise, after leading Gujarat Titans to the IPL title in 2022 and this is considered as one of the biggest trades in league's history. It was a strategic move from Mumbai Indians to reclaim past glory but Hardik didn't have great success as MI captain in the last two IPL seasons. 2. Trent Boult (Traded from Delhi Capitals) 2 / 10 Delhi Capitals traded Trent Boult to Mumbai Indians for Rs 3.2 crore in an all-cash deal ahead of the IPL 2020 season. Quinton de Kock (Traded from RCB) 3 / 10 Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) traded Quinton de Kock to Mumbai Indians for Rs 2.8 crore in an all-cash deal after his underwhelming 2018 season. De Kock scored 529 runs in 2019 and 503 runs in 2020 and formed a formidable opening pair with Rohit Sharma and contributed to MI's titles in both years, making this trade a masterstroke. 4. Parthiv Patel (Traded from RCB) 4 / 10 Mumbai Indians traded for wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2015 season. The move turned out to be fruitful for Mumbai Indians as Parthiv played a crucial role in MI's title wins in 2015 and 17 by providing the much-needed stability at the top of the order. 5. Dinesh Karthik (Traded from Punjab) 5 / 10 With Mumbai Indians needing a specialist wicket-keeper, the franchise signed Dinesh Karthik in a player-plus-cash deal with Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in exchange for R Sathish ahead of the 2012 season. Karthik's experience and batting prowess played a key role in MI's first IPL title win in 2013, making him a key trade acquisition. Karthik smashed 510 runs in 16 games during IPL 2013 season. 6. Pragyan Ojha (Traded from Deccan Chargers) 6 / 10 Pragyan Ojha was traded from Deccan Chargers to Mumbai before the IPL 2012 season. Ojha filled a critical gap in MI's spin department and made a huge contribution in MI's first IPL title win in 2013 by taking 16 wickets in as many games. 7. Jason Behrendorff (Traded from RCB) 7 / 10 A member of the Mumbai Indians' victorious 2019 IPL winning team, Jason Behrendorff returned back to the franchise in a trade deal with Royal Challengers Bangalore. His impact at MI was immediate with his performances in IPL 2023, as the Aussie pacer claimed 14 wickets in 12 outings as a new-ball specialist. 8. Zaheer Khan (Traded from RCB) 8 / 10 Zaheer Khan was traded to Mumbai Indians from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in exchange for Robin Uthappa ahead of the 2009 season. Zaheer picked six wickets in the 2009 edition and 15 scalps in the 2010 IPL edition, playing a major role in carrying MI to the final. 9. Shikhar Dhawan (Traded from Delhi) 9 / 10 Shikhar Dhawan was traded to Mumbai Indians in a straight-player swap with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) with Ashish Nehra going the other way. Shikhar played for MI for two seasons (2009 and 2010) and registered 345 runs in 19 games across the IPL and the Champions League T20. 10. Jayant Yadav (Traded from Delhi Capitals) 10 / 10 Jayant Yadav was traded to Mumbai Indians from Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2019 IPL season. Yadav played a crucial role for MI in the IPL 2020 final as he picked the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan and was their most economical bowler in the match with just 25 runs conceded as they cantered to a win.
