Oman's strength in air safety receives global acclaim
MUSCAT: Oman's strong track record in air safety received global acclaim when it scored 94.4 per cent in the implementation sustainability index and a perfect 100 per cent in the facilitation compliance index. These achievements placed Oman 4th globally among G20 nations and 3rd in the Middle East in aviation security. This came during the annual review of Civil Aviation Authority's milestones and global achievements on Wednesday in a press conference by Eng Nayef bin Ali al Abri, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Al Abri said these results reflect Oman's firm commitment to aviation security and readiness to maintain high compliance. The Authority will continue working with partners to implement audit recommendations and uphold international standards. The ICAO audit team praised Oman's inter-agency coordination, the competence of its national workforce and the effectiveness of its emergency security plans. Solidifying its status as a regional leader in aviation security Oman recorded outstanding results in the ICAO's Universal Security Audit Programme – Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA), conducted from February 9 to18, 2025. UAE Nationals Can Stay in Japan for 90 Days Without a Visa Starting July 1
Japan will extend its visa-free stay for United Arab Emirates (UAE) nationals from 30 to 90 days starting July 1, 2025, in a move expected to boost tourism and strengthen business ties between the two countries. The updated visa waiver applies to UAE citizens holding valid, ICAO-compliant ordinary passports. The extension covers short-term stays for purposes such as tourism, business, and visiting family or friends. Japan has allowed visa-free entry for UAE nationals since 2022, with an initial limit of 30 days. The forthcoming change triples the allowed stay and is part of Japan's broader efforts to enhance bilateral engagement with the UAE. Officials anticipate that the relaxed entry rules will lead to increased travel between the two nations, improved convenience for business travelers, and deeper cultural and economic exchange. In a reciprocal move, the UAE introduced a similar visa waiver for Japanese nationals in August 2024, allowing short-term stays of up to 90 days without a visa. The mutual visa waiver reflects growing cooperation between Japan and the UAE, aligning with both countries' goals of expanding international connectivity and easing travel regulations.
