Rory McIlroy's odds drift as clear favourite emerges for US Open
The Northern Irishman has struggled for form since winning the Masters back in April and finished way off the pace at last month's PGA Championship.
That event was won by Scottie Scheffler who is the clear favourite with Betfair to win his first US Open title and his third major in total at Oakmont this week. Scheffler is in the form of his life and followed up his PGA win with a fantastic victory at the Memorial Championship.
Just behind Scheffler in the bookmakers' pecking order is defending champion Bryson DeChambeau. The American has twice won the US Open in his career, memorably pipping McIlroy in an epic encounter last year.
Betfair spokesman Sam Rosbottom said: 'The third Major of the year is already upon us, with the world's best arriving at Oakmont Country Club hoping to beat Scottie Scheffler. The American won the USPGA Championship last month and is 11/4 favourite to back up that triumph.
'Having appeared to be suffering somewhat of a dip with his performance following his Masters win in April, Rory McIlroy was way back in the field at Quail Hollow and has been given a 12/1 chance of bouncing back here.
'The last time the US Open was held at Oakmont Country Club in 2016, Dustin Johnson won the tournament and he is 125/1 to repeat the feat this weekend. Shane Lowry was a runner-up on that occasion and is 40/1 to win this weekend.'

Young captures long-awaited first PGA Tour win at Wyndham Championship
AMERICAN CAMERON YOUNG seized his first US PGA Tour title on Sunday, firing a two-under par 68 in the final round of the Wyndham Championship for a six-stroke victory over Mac Meissner. It was an emotional win for Young, whose seven career runner-up finishes included the 2022 British Open at St. Andrews. He started the day with a five-stroke lead and after an opening bogey reeled off five straight birdies – a run that included a 26-foot bomb at the third hole. A pair of bogeys at 16 and 17 were immaterial and Young tapped in for a par at the 18th to cap a two-under par 68 that gave him a 22-under total of 258.
