Darsheel Safary Says He's ‘Too Shy' to Ask Aamir Khan For Work: ‘He's Not My Brother'
Last Updated:
Darsheel Safary reveals why he doesn't approach Aamir Khan for work post Taare Zameen Par, saying he feels shy and prefers building his career through auditions.
Darsheel Safary, who rose to fame with Taare Zameen Par alongside Aamir Khan in 2007, is choosing to walk his own path in the film industry — even if it means turning away from easy access to big names. In a recent conversation with Mid-day, the actor opened up about why he's never reached out to Aamir for roles, despite their long-standing connection.
'Whatever work I've done after the pandemic has been through zero contacts. Auditions and screen tests allow me to understand whether I'm able to do [a role] and also help producers and directors understand if I fit it," Darsheel said, emphasising his preference to earn roles on merit.
While fans often wonder why he doesn't collaborate again with Aamir or reach out for help, Darsheel admitted he finds the idea uncomfortable.
'People get upset that I don't ask Aamir for work. But I feel too shy to do that. He is not my brother so I can call him and say, 'Please get me a script.' My chosen path has been to [only] send him best wishes, like a text on his birthday. It's just how I preferred it," he explained.
The actor also spoke briefly about Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan's upcoming film that is being called the spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par. While Darsheel is not part of the cast, he shared his thoughts about the movie. He wrote that the film doesn't rely on pity or preaching, but instead radiates presence, joy, and strength. He urged people to watch the film in theatres as it will not release on any OTT platform.
Darsheel Safary took to his Instagram stories, and shared the poster of Sitaare Zameen Par. Sharing his review of the film, he wrote, 'My heart feels FULLER, SOFTER and HAPPIER. The film holds up a mirror with humor, grace and heart. No pity, no preaching. Just presence, joy and strength. You HAVE to watch this in theaters!! It won't stream. It's not meant to. Some stories ask for silence, a screen, and your full heart. You'll walk in curious and walk out a little more human."
Directed and produced by Aamir Khan, Taare Zameen Par starred Darsheel as Ishaan Awasthi, a child with dyslexia whose life is transformed by a compassionate teacher. The film became a landmark in Indian cinema and earned both critical and commercial acclaim.

The main trailer for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle has been officially released by Sony Pictures and Crunchyroll, offering us a first look at what promises to be the climactic conclusion of the hit anime series. The upcoming film, directed by Haruo Sotozaki and animated by Ufotable, is the first in a trilogy adapting the final arc of Koyoharu Gotoge's manga. Following the events of the recently concluded Hashira Training Arc, the new film begins with a surprise attack by the series' main antagonist Muzan Kibutsuji. This sets the stage for Tanjiro Kamado and his allies to be plunged into the Infinity Castle — the enemy stronghold where the decisive battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan's forces will unfold. Infinity Castle is set to premiere in Japan on July 18, 2025. The international theatrical rollout will follow in phases, starting August 12 in Thailand and expanding globally through September. Indian audiences can catch the film in theatres beginning September 12, available in both Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed versions. Battles in past seasons have already included confrontations alongside Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku, Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui, and more recently the Mist and Love Hashira. Originally serialised in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has become one of the most influential manga and anime properties in recent years. Fact Check: Virat Kohli Caught Smoking? Viral Image Sparks Debate on Social Media - Here's The Truth Behind The Picture
Amidst a quiet phase following his retirement from Test cricket and India's T20 World Cup 2024 win, Virat Kohli has unexpectedly found himself trending again — this time for all the wrong reasons. A photo has gone viral on social media platforms, especially X (formerly Twitter), claiming that the legendary Indian cricketer was seen smoking a cigarette. The image quickly spread across the internet, triggering debate and confusion among fans. With Kohli not making any public appearances since Royal Challengers Bengaluru's historic IPL 2025 triumph, the viral photo added fuel to fan speculation. Do u think he is really smoking ? @grok Hiding in X (@DHarsHaDr) June 29, 2025 blud started smoking, looks like he wasn't able to cope with the loses of 11 lives lost in chinnaswamy stampede ex. capt (@thephukdi) June 28, 2025 Is this Virat Kohli? Is he smoking??? — Sai (@TheDiaryofSai) June 28, 2025 Fact Check Is It Virat Or Not? Contrary to online claims, the man in the image is not Virat Kohli. The viral picture is not even new. It originally surfaced in 2023 and again in March 2024, causing similar confusion back then. Upon investigation, it was confirmed that the individual in the image is Pawan Kumar, a known lookalike of Virat Kohli. The photo was taken at the One8 Commune restaurant in Bengaluru, which is owned by Kohli himself. Pawan Kumar was seen smoking hookah, leading to the mistaken identity. This is not the first time Kumar's resemblance to Kohli has misled fans, but the confusion was cleared by fact-checkers and fan pages shortly after the image first went viral over a year ago. Virat Kohli: A Disciplined Athelete Virat Kohli is well-known for his disciplined lifestyle. He has consistently maintained a strict fitness regime and publicly spoken against smoking and drinking. Kohli transformed his physique over the years and credited his clean lifestyle for helping him extend his playing career at the highest level. His commitment to fitness and wellness has also inspired many young athletes to follow suit. In interviews, he has emphasized how dietary discipline and workout consistency were pivotal in his success. Post-IPL Silence and Fan Curiosity After leading RCB to their first-ever IPL title in 2025, Kohli has kept a low profile. His silence became even more prominent after the tragic Bengaluru victory parade stampede, which claimed 11 lives. Since then, Kohli hasn't made any public statements or appearances. This low visibility, coupled with his Test and T20I retirements, has left fans eagerly awaiting his next move particularly in the ODI format, which is now his sole focus in international cricket.
