Two Ohio State football players named Walter Camp preseason first-team All-Americans
And if there's an All-American team, you can almost bet some Ohio State players are included, and that is indeed the case here as well. In fact, two Buckeyes made the list for the First-team and you can probably guess the two because both have been racking up notoriety based on what happened last year and the buzz going into 2025.
Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and safety Caleb Downs have both been recognized as preseason First-Team Walter Camp All-Americans. You know both well. Smith shattered the Ohio State freshmen receiving records for the Buckeyes and was an FWAA Freshman All-American and USA TODAY First Team All-American. He was also the MVP of the Rose Bowl vs. Oregon. He finished the season with 76 catches for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns.
For Downs, he was a do-everything guy for the Buckeyes. While he was technically listed as a safety, he was often brought down closer to the line where a traditional linebacker would play to take advantage of his athleticism, speed, and ability to break on the ball. He was third on the team with 81 tackles and tied for the team lead with two interceptions.
Both guys should take an even bigger step forward in 2025 and land on some other preseason lists as they come out. You can almost bank on them being on some official postseason lists as well.

'I think Texas A&M makes the playoff': SEC football analyst predicts Aggie CFP bid
While many media members at the Southeastern Conference's media days predicted Texas A&M to finish in the middle of the pack in league play this season, one college football analyst made a bold prediction for the Aggies to reach this year's College Football Playoff. Ranked as the No. 9 slate by ESPN metrics, Texas A&M will have road tests against Notre Dame, LSU and Texas, all of which will have massive postseason implications. Having a talented gunslinger at the helm will help the Aggies stay on course, however. Marcel Reed enters his sophomore year in College Station after throwing for 1,864 yards and 15 touchdowns in 11 games played last season. The two-time SEC Freshman of the Week honoree (Sep. 16 and Oct. 28) also recorded 547 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. With experience under his belt and targets like former ACC Freshman Offensive Player of the Year KC Concepcion surrounding him, Reed has all the pieces to complete the puzzle and lead the Aggies to the CFP in 2025. While the Texas A&M secondary has been a weak spot of the defensive unit for a long time, that could soon change as well with the return of Will Lee III and the addition of transfer standouts Julian Humphrey (Georgia) and Jordan Shaw (Washington), rounding out the Aggie secondary this season. Can the Aggies defy the odds and reach the 2025-2026 CFP? The Maroon and White faithful will have to wait just 41 more days before those answers begin to unfold on the gridiron at Kyle Field. Indiana Fever update Caitlin Clark injury status, availability vs New York Liberty
With the 2025 WNBA All-Star break concluded, the Indiana Fever provided an injury status update to star Caitlin Clark entering their Tuesday night matchup against the New York Liberty from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Clark, who suffered a right groin injury late in the Fever's July 15 victory over the Connecticut Sun, missed Indiana's blowout loss against the Liberty last Wednesday and opted out of the entire All-Star weekend to focus on her recovery. According to head coach Stephanie White, the Fever do not anticipate Clark being made available when they take the floor in Brooklyn on Tuesday. "I haven't seen C [Clark] since the game last night, but I think she's progressing. I think that we're continuing to address everything that needs to be addressed. She's going to see some doctors and get some more tests done early in the week. "I don't expect her to be available on Tuesday, so we're just going to continue to take it one day at a time and let her get her evaluation early this week. Once we've done that, hopefully we'll have more of a clear mind of what it looks like," White said of Clark's status. With Clark most likely unavailable for Indiana, the team will need to rely heavily on Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston to bear the load on offense with impactful contributions off the bench for the time being. Indiana's Tuesday night clash with New York will tip off at 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN.
