
Preparations in full swing for ‘Shining Stars' prog tomorrow
During a video conference conducted from the Anantapur District Collectorate camp office on Saturday, the Collector reviewed preparations for the Yogandhra Mass Yoga Event, Shining Stars initiative, and the one-year completion of the current State government.
The Collector stated that under the Shining Stars initiative, 184 Class 10 students and 35 Intermediate students would be felicitated with a medal, certificate, and a cash prize of ₹20,000 each. He instructed officials to finalize the venue and ensure that all arrangements are in place for a successful programme.
Additionally, he emphasized proper planning for the Yogandhra event to be held on June 8 at Shilparamam in the city. Regarding the completion of one year of the new government on June 12, Dr Vinod Kumar instructed officials to organize inauguration ceremonies on June 11 for various newly sanctioned and ongoing infrastructure projects.
He urged department heads to coordinate with local public representatives to make these events impact full.
The Collector also emphasized the need to distribute various assets and kickstart development projects in villages, particularly focusing on form ponds and other critical works. He directed Constituency Special Officers to hold meetings with Mandal-level officers and organize constituency-level programmes in coordination.
Highlighting a state level event scheduled in Amaravati on June 12 from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM, he advised informing ministers, public representatives, directors, and district officials to participate. He stressed adopting a team approach and ensuring seamless coordination among departments to execute all the planned activities successfully.

Hamirpur (HP), July 17 (PTI) Two forest personnel who rescued over 100 snakes last year were honoured on the occasion of World Snake Day here on Wednesday. Suresh Kumar rescued 60 snakes last year while Vinod Kumar rescued 45. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Sameer Rastogi honoured the two, who were also awarded commendation letters and certificates by the Forest Department. Notably, snakes are found in forests and even in private and government houses during the summer and monsoon seasons and they bite human beings and animals, which at times proves fatal. During the programme, the field staff of the Forest Department were honoured for their commendable services, especially those working for the conservation of snakes. They were given digital certificates. Addressing the officers and employees of the department, Rastogi talked about the importance of snakes and their contribution to ecological balance. Agency: Hamirpur (HP), Jul 17 (PTI) Two Forest Department personnel who rescued over 100 snakes last year were honoured on the occasion of World Snake Day here on Wednesday. Six people have died due to snake bites so far in the current monsoon season since June 20. According to the state emergency operation centre, two deaths each were reported in Bilaspur and Hamirpur districts and one each in Kangra and Una districts. Everyone must plant and protect saplings: Collector
Uravakonda: District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar emphasised the importance of environmental protection, stating that everyone should actively plant and care for saplings. He participated as the chief guest in a plantation and pension distribution drive in Veligonda village, Uravakonda mandal, as part of the Puttaparthi constituency initiatives. Accompanied by Special Deputy Collector and Constituency Officer Tippay Naik, BC Welfare Deputy Director Khushboo Katori, Tahsildar Mahboob Basha, and MPDO Ravi Prasad, the Collector first planted saplings under the MGNREGS scheme near the village. Later, he distributed pensions under the NTR Bharosa scheme for July 2025 to various beneficiaries including disability pensions to P Govindarajulu, G Siddappa, and D Bojjanulu, widow pension to P Veenamma, and old-age pensions to P Sunkamma and J Parvatamma. The Collector personally interacted with the recipients, inquired about their issues, and ensured immediate redressal. Upon learning about a severe drinking water issue in the village, he instructed the Rural Water Supply AE to take immediate action to address the problem.
