SEATTLE (AP) — Jesús Ferreira and Danny Musovski scored midway through the match and the Seattle Sounders defeated Austin FC 2-0 on Saturday night to move into fifth place in the Western Conference of the MLS. Ferreira scored in the second minute of first-half stoppage time, giving the Sounders a 1-0 halftime lead. He connected with a right-footed shot from the center of the box to the top right corner. HOUSTON (AP) — Ezequiel Ponce scored in the second half and Jonathan Bond made it stand up as the Houston Dynamo snapped a three-match skid with a 1-0 victory over St. Louis City on Saturday night. Ponce ended a scoreless match when used assists from defenders Felipe Andrade and Franco Escobar to score his fifth goal this season and 10th in his two seasons in the league. Andrade's assist was his first in the rookie's ninth career appearance and Escobar's was his third this season. Bond needed just one save to post his sixth clean sheet of the season for the Dynamo (6-9-5), who beat St. Louis City (3-11-6) for the first time in five regular-season matchups. The two clubs played to a scoreless draw in Houston last season and tied 1-1 there in 2023 — when St. Louis City won the Western Conference regular-season title as an expansion team.(backslash) Roman Bürki finished with five saves for St. Louis City, which falls to 1-7-2 on the road. WASHINGTON (AP) — Sam Surridge scored his league-leading 16th goal on a penalty kick in the first half and Joe Willis made it stand up as Nashville SC extended its unbeaten run to 13 matches with a 1-0 victory over D.C. United on Saturday night. Surridge, who had a hat trick on Wednesday in a 3-2 win over the New England Revolution, scored in the 18th minute to give him a goal in a club-record six straight matches. Hany Muhktar had five in a row in 2022. The PK was awarded after Mukhtar was fouled by Lucas Bartlett. Sam Surridge has a three-goal lead over the Philadelphia Union's Tai Baribo in the race for the Golden Boot Award. Willis had one save in posting his sixth clean sheet of the season for Nashville (11-4-5), which can tie the club record for longest unbeaten run when it hosts Baribo and the Union on Saturday.
