He said while it is the right of any party to file a lawsuit, such action must follow proper legal procedures.

The real issue now lies with the unfinished Pan Borneo Highway. Because of that, the pipe installation couldn't be completed as scheduled. 'Efforts are being made to resolve the matter, but technical issues have caused setbacks. Malaysia to buy military assets from Italy to enhance maritime security

The acquisition will include two Maritime Patrol Aircraft designated for the Royal Malaysian Navy. Additionally, Malaysia also plans to procure 28 Leonardo AW149 helicopters, while the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri is expected to supply multi-role support ships (MRSS) and littoral mission ships (LMS). These defence assets will help strengthen Malaysia's longstanding bilateral ties with Italy, renowned for its advanced military industry, Anwar said at his exit press conference at the conclusion of his three-day official visit to Italy Thursday (July 3). Meanwhile, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who accompanied the Prime Minister on the visit, added that details of the procurement would be finalised to ensure Malaysia benefits from areas such as centralised training and other cooperative opportunities. Initially, operations for the maritime patrol aircraft are expected to be based out of Batu Berendam Airport in Melaka, he noted. Mohamed Khaled also said Malaysia has proposed that the acquisitions be carried out through government-to-government (G2G) agreements. "This approach will help us secure better pricing and asset guarantees directly from the Italian Government," he explained. The Defence Ministry has also recommended exploring new areas of collaboration between the two countries in the defence sector, including artificial intelligence (AI) and underwater security command centres. Anwar arrived here on Tuesday (July 1) for a maiden official visit at the invitation of his Italian counterpart, Georgia Meloni. This is part of Anwar's three-nation visits to Italy, France and Brazil, which form part of Malaysia's ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and promote economic cooperation at the global level. Anwar will later depart for Paris, where he is scheduled to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron during his two-day stay there. Russian strikes kill two in Ukraine, hit military office
KYIV: Russian attacks on the eastern Ukrainian city of Poltava killed two people, wounded nearly a dozen and also struck a military recruitment centre, officials said Thursday. The Ukrainian army reported there were 'dead and wounded' at the recruitment office. Moscow has stepped up its drone and missile bombardments on Ukraine as peace talks stall and concerns grow over further US military support for Kyiv. The emergency services posted images of buildings on fire and rescue workers at the scene of the Poltava strike where cars were shown littered with debris. 'Two people were killed and 10 were wounded,' the emergency services said. While in Russia's Lipetsk region, debris from a Ukrainian drone killed an elderly woman and wounded two others, its governor said Thursday. The debris fell on a building in Lipetsk, which lies about 400 kilometres (250 miles) southeast of Moscow, killing a woman in her seventies, Igor Artamonov wrote on Telegram. In another incident, Artamonov said residents in the city of Yelets in Lipetsk were evacuated after a drone hit their apartment building, with no casualties reported. An official responsible for communications linked with Ukraine's national security council in Kyiv said a plant that makes 'batteries for missile guidance and correction systems,' was targeted. Russia's defence ministry said Thursday it had destroyed 69 Ukrainian drones overnight, mostly over its Belgorod region bordering Ukraine. Ukraine's air force, meanwhile, said it neutralised 40 Russian drones of the 52 launched overnight from late Wednesday. PETALING JAYA: Frozen food company Ramly Food has agreed to temporarily postpone a planned price hike for its products, says domestic trade and cost of living minister Armizan Mohd Ali. Armizan said his ministry summoned the company following public concern, and a meeting was held last Tuesday to clarify the situation, Astro Awani reported. 'The ministry has issued a 'Goods Information Confirmation Notice' under Section 21 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act to obtain justification for the planned price increase,' he was quoted as saying at a press conference today. The issue gained traction after a vendor notice dated April 14 from Ramly Food Marketing Sdn Bhd began circulating online, stating that product prices would go up starting next Monday. The notice attributed the increase to rising raw material costs. In a separate case, Armizan said Sim Yang Hok Industries Sdn Bhd, which recently went viral over claims it had increased the price of ice products from RM3.70 to RM6, has denied the allegation. He said the company clarified that no official notice was issued and that it had lodged a police report over the viral claims. 'So far, both companies have stated that any proposed price increase is due to operating costs and not the implementation of the sales and service tax (SST),' he said. He also advised companies to consult the ministry before implementing any price adjustments to ensure they do not violate anti-profiteering laws.
