EAIC urges criminal charges against immigration officers for medical visa fraud
The findings stem from a probe led by EAIC Commissioner Datuk Seri Dr Razali Ab Malik, which uncovered systemic abuse in granting social visit passes under the medical category.
The investigation scrutinised approval protocols, collected witness testimonies, and seized documents before concluding that officers bypassed legal requirements. 'The probe revealed power abuse where incomplete applications were approved despite violating the Malaysian Immigration Circular No. 10/2001,' stated the EAIC.
The case has been escalated to the Attorney-General's Chambers under Paragraph 30(1)(c) of Act 700. Charges may be filed under the Penal Code, Immigration Act 1959/63, and Passports Act 1966. - Bernama

Policeman injured after man goes on rampage with parang
KUANTAN: A policeman was injured after being attacked with a machete by a man believed to be mentally unstable at a house in Felda Bukit Kuantan yesterday. Corporal Mohd Shafril Izzwan Ismail, 37, suffered injuries to his back, chin and fingers on his left hand. Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the incident occurred around 5.30pm after three policemen from the Panching police station responded to a report of a man going on a rampage with a machete. Upon arrival, they attempted to calm the man. "However, he became aggressive and slashed the victim with the machete," Yahaya said in a statement. A team from the Kuantan police headquarters' Criminal Investigation Division was later deployed and arrested the suspect. Mohd Shafril Izzwan was taken to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA) for treatment. Yahaya said police also seized a machete and two other sharp weapons. Initial checks showed the 37-year-old suspect had no prior criminal record and was unemployed. He has been referred to HTAA's psychiatric ward for mental health evaluation. The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing injury with a weapon.

KUANTAN: A police corporal sustained injuries after being attacked with a machete by a man suspected to be mentally unstable at a residence in Felda Bukit Kuantan. The incident occurred yesterday around 5.30 pm when authorities responded to reports of a man wielding a machete inside a home. Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman confirmed that Cpl Mohd Shafril Izzwan Ismail, 37, from the Panching police station, suffered wounds to his back, chin, and left fingers. 'While attempting to de-escalate the situation, Mohd Shafril was suddenly attacked by the suspect. He was promptly taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital and is currently receiving treatment in the Yellow Zone,' Yahaya stated. Police apprehended the 37-year-old unemployed suspect, who is believed to have mental health issues, and confiscated multiple sharp weapons from the scene. 'The suspect has been referred to the psychiatric ward for further evaluation,' Yahaya added. Investigations revealed the suspect has no prior criminal record. Mall assault: Classmates attacked teen over how he spoke, say cops
KUALA LUMPUR: The Form One student assaulted at a Kajang mall was targeted over his classmates' dissatisfaction with his communication and behaviour. Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said the remand for the four 13-year-old students was extended for one more day until tomorrow. "The students were released on police bail today after the documentation and investigation process were completed. "So far, nine witness statements have been taken, including those from the four students who were arrested. "The suspect, a classmate of the victim, was dissatisfied over how the complainant communicated and interacted with classmates," he said when contacted today. Four male students were detained after the victim, who is also a Form One student at a secondary school in Kajang, lodged a police report after being beaten by a classmate at 11am on July 30. The case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code as well as Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
