Wizz Air launched a huge sale today to celebrate the launch of a new destination

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi just added another dreamy escape to your travel bucket list – and it comes with up to 20 percent off flights for a limited time.
The UAE's ultra-low-fare national airline has officially launched direct flights to Gabala, marking it as the first and only carrier connecting this lush mountain city in Azerbaijan with Abu Dhabi.
Following its successful route to Baku, Wizz Air's latest launch makes Gabala the airline's second destination in Azerbaijan – and solidifies its position as the only ultra-low-cost carrier currently flying between the UAE capital and Azerbaijan.
When can you fly?
The new route runs three times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays – with one-way fares starting from just Dhs89. You can snag tickets on wizzair.com or the WIZZ mobile app.
And here's the kicker: to celebrate the new route, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is offering up to 20 percent off all flights booked today, June 19. The deal applies to travel between July 1 and October 31 2025, so set your flight alerts now.
If you're not familiar with Gabala, it's often dubbed the 'Switzerland of Azerbaijan', and is a scenic, peaceful city tucked in the Caucasus Mountains – it's also seriously underrated.
Think forests, lakes and epic mountain views, with loads of outdoor fun like hiking, paragliding and skiing. For culture-lovers, there's the Gabala Archaeological Centre, Tufandag Mountain Resort and plenty of charming local villages to explore.
The new connection not only makes this stunning spot more accessible to UAE travellers but also opens up exciting cultural and tourism exchanges between the two countries.
Tamara Vallois, head of commercial at Wizz Air, said: 'Today marks a significant milestone as we commence our flights to Gabala and add it as a new point on the WIZZ map of affordable travel from the UAE. The launch of direct commercial operations opens new opportunities to boost tourism and drive economic growth in the region.
'Thanks to Wizz Air Abu Dhabi's affordable fares, residents of northern Azerbaijan now have a quick and convenient way to discover the vibrant attractions and rich cultural heritage of Abu Dhabi. At the same time, travellers from Abu Dhabi can experience the stunning landscapes and natural beauty that this region offers year-round. To celebrate our connectivity, we are offering an unmissable discount of up to 20 percent on ticket fares today. We remain committed to expanding our network and providing value-driven travel options, while reinforcing Abu Dhabi's role as a gateway to unique global destinations.'

Flights cancelled to the UAE: Wizz Air, Singapore Airlines, Air Canada and more suspend routes

Several international carriers have suspended flights to the UAE amid the tension between Iran and Israel. While many flights were temporarily affected on Monday following Iran's thwarted attack on Qatar's US airbase at Al Udeid, both Dubai Airports and Abu Dhabi's Zayed International airports announced the resumption of operations later in the evening, but cautioned travellers of delays. "Due to regional airspace closures, flights from DXB and DWC - Al Maktoum International may be impacted. Please check with your airline for the latest updates before heading to the airport, especially for guests travelling to India," Dubai Airports posted on social media on Tuesday. Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport also urged travellers to check latest flight schedules before heading to the airport. A number of international flights into the UAE remain cancelled or suspended as of Wednesday. Wizz Air announced on Tuesday that it is cancelling all flights to and from the UAE until June 30. 'In light of the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East, and due to the closure of multiple airspaces across the region yesterday evening, we diverted our flights to alternative airports,' the airline said. 'The safety and security of our passengers and crew remain our highest priority. We will keep you informed as the situation evolves.' Singapore Airlines also halted its daily flight between Singapore and Dubai until Wednesday. 'Customers affected by the flight cancellations will be re accommodated on alternative flights or can seek a full refund of the unused portion of their ticket,' the airline said. Air Canada, which suspended its daily non-stop flights between Toronto and Dubai on June 18, will continue to pause the flights up to and including August 4 'as a precautionary measure'. The suspension could be further extended 'following a safety assessment in consultation with government and other authorities,' the airline said. Chicago-based United Airlines has also suspended flights from Newark and New Jersey to Dubai until July 3. Dutch airline KLM is also offering rebook and refund options to passengers who were scheduled to fly between Amsterdam and Dubai between June 19 and June 29. On Monday, the US State Department issued a security alert for all its citizens travelling abroad, saying 'there is the potential for demonstrations against US citizens and interests abroad'. 'The Department of State advises US citizens worldwide to exercise increased caution. Please read carefully our Travel Advisory, country information and any recent security alerts when planning travel,' the department posted on X and on its website.

Oman Air Resumes Full-Flight Schedule

Oman Air announced the full resumption of its daily inbound and outbound flights after the airline cancelled flights on Monday evening, following Iran's attack on the US military base in Qatar. The resumption of the flights followed the Sultanate's neighbors reopening their airspace late Monday night and the announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel on Tuesday. On Monday night, Oman Air cancelled flights to Manama, Bahrain, Dubai, and Kuwait following the attack on the US base in Qatar. UAE-based Emirates resumed flight operations after the temporary disruption on Monday night, however Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has cancelled all UAE flights until June 30. The Iran-Israel war has caused cancellation and delays of flights for various regional airlines since June 13. Although, the ceasefire announcement raised hopes of resumption of smooth flight operations, Israel accused Iran of violating the ceasefire on Tuesday, emphasizing the fragility of this ceasefire.
