REC fundraising details
State-owned company's board on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, approved the proposal to raise funds via bonds.
"Proposal of raising of funds through Private Placement of Unsecured / Secured Non-Convertible Bonds / Debentures of up to ₹1,55,000 crore, subject to the approval of shareholders in the ensuing Annual General Meeting ("AGM"). The funds will be raised, in one or more tranches, during a period of one year from the date of passing of resolution by the shareholders, with the approval of Competent Authority," the filing read.
Why strike off SPV?
The National Committee on Transmission (NCT) had recommended RECPDCL for selection of the Transmission Service division for the interstate transmission project namely, "Transmission system for Evacuation of Power from RE Projects in Rajgarh (1500 MW) SEZ in Madhya Pradesh - Phase III"
According to Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) guidelines, RECPDCL incorporated an SPV company to carry out the bid process. Subsequently, the NCT has recommended clubbing the said project with another project.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Power de-notified the project Rajgarh Phase III (1500 MW) project vide notification dated March 18, 2025. In view of the above, the said SPV is proposed to be strike off subject to requisite clearances/ concurrences/ approvals of Statutory/ Administrative Authorities, wherever required.

Kotak Mahindra Bank shares rally on robust loan, deposit growth in Q1

Private sector lender Kotak Mahindra Bank's shares rallied close to 4 per cent on Tuesday, following its quarterly business update, wherein the bank reported robust growth in advances and deposits for the quarter ended June 2025 (Q1FY26). Shares of the bank closed at ₹2,224.5 on the BSE on Tuesday, up 3.61 per cent. In its quarterly business update, the bank reported 14 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) and 4.2 per cent sequential growth in net advances to ₹4.44 trillion in Q1. During the same period, the bank's net deposits rose 14.6 per cent Y-o-Y and 2.8 per cent quarter-on-quarter (Q-o-Q) to ₹5.12 trillion. 'Kotak (standalone), in its pre-quarter update, reported 14 per cent Y-o-Y (4 per cent Q-o-Q) loan growth and about 15 per cent Y-o-Y (2.8 per cent Q-o-Q) deposit growth. These were better than our expectations and also better than private peers,' said Macquarie Research in its note. It added that with Y-o-Y system deposit and loan growth at about 10 per cent levels (as on June 13, 2025), the reported numbers (of the bank) are encouraging. While low cost deposits — current account savings account (Casa) — growth of the private sector lender was 8 per cent Y-o-Y in Q1 to ₹2.09 trillion, sequentially it reported a drop of 2.2 per cent. Meanwhile, analysts have pointed out that Kotak Mahindra Bank has the largest share of external benchmark-linked loans among peers, at 60 per cent of its loan book. HDFC Bank has 45 per cent of its loan book linked to the external benchmark-linked loan rate (EBLR), while ICICI Bank and Axis Bank have 53 per cent and 54 per cent, respectively. With the front loading of rate cuts, focus shifts on the extent of margin compression in Q1 and the coming quarters. 'We factor in a 15 basis points (bps) Q-o-Q margin decline in Q1', Macquarie Research said. At the end of Q4FY25, the bank reported a net interest margin (NIM) of 4.97 per cent, down from 5.28 per cent in the corresponding period a year ago. '…going forward, the bank has levers on the liability side to navigate through the rate-cut cycle. These include repricing of the savings book and sweep deposit book, strong growth in Casa balances and reduction in term deposit rates. Further commentary around the credit cost trajectory, slippages trend in the unsecured segment (including MFI) remains a key monitorable,' the report further said.

Delhi HC restrains SECI from terminating power deal with Reliance NU Suntech

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday restrained Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) from taking any coercive action, including terminating its power purchase agreement , against Reliance NU Suntech till it decided the case. The court while issuing notice to SECI on Reliance NU Suntech's plea asked parties to maintain status quo and posted the matter for further hearing on September 17. Stating that the July 1 Show Cause Notice issued by SECI was 'perverse' and issued with a 'predetermined and premeditated mind,' Reliance NU said that its relationship with Reliance Power was fully disclosed in the bid and even the SECI's documents, letters and correspondence showed that they were aware of all material facts and circumstances. SECI and Reliance NU Suntech, a subsidiary of Reliance Power, had entered into Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in April for setting up of 2000 MW ISTS-Connected Solar PV Power Projects with 1000 MW/4000 MWh Energy Storage Systems under Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding. Later, in July, SECI had issued a show cause notice to Reliance NU for terminating the PPA on the ground that it had not informed about the debarment of Reliance NU BESS, another Reliance Power subsidiary, in a fake bank guarantee (BG) documents case involving a different tender. SECI was fully aware of the relationship and 'correctly and consciously' considered Reliance NU to be eligible, the petition stated. 'As an afterthought after having signed the Power Purchase Agreement and taking a performance bank guarantee of Rs 377.58 crore and success fees amounting to Rs 10.04 crore, SECI has issued an illegal show cause notice, seeking to terminate the PPA of April 30,' Reliance NU submitted. Live Events 'Because suppression necessarily involves the other party being unaware of a particular fact and relying on the omission to its detriment. If the alleging party here already had full knowledge and therefore the allegation of suppression has to fail,' the petition filed through counsel Rishi Agrawala and Devika Mohan stated. In the fake GB case last year, SECI had debarred Nu Bess in November. The HC had stayed the debarment order of Reliance Power and its subsidiary companies, except for Reliance NU BESS.
