Oklahoma mum charged with murder after tragic death of newborn
According to an arrest affidavit, Spencer spent the night of November 1 drinking White Claws with her partner, James Kelson, at their home. The couple reportedly split a 12-pack before midnight. Kelson told police that after they drank, Spencer took their newborn twins—RK and LK—to bed with her while he turned in for the night.
Police arrested a woman who they claim struck a mother and her two children during a fireworks display, killing a 3-year-old boy, and drove away, all without a valid license.https://t.co/tAebtjlji0
Spencer later told investigators that Kelson had asked her to buy more alcohol, leading her to a nearby 7-Eleven. Surveillance footage confirmed she left the store at 1:27 a.m. with four "tall boy" cans of White Claw.
But instead of returning to the bedroom, Spencer passed out on the living room couch with one of the twins in her arms.
Infant found dead at her feet
Kelson awoke at 6:45 a.m. to find Spencer and the babies missing. He found her on the living room couch, holding their daughter while their son lay lifeless at her feet. Paramedics arrived quickly but declared RK dead at the scene.
The medical examiner later determined that the child died from 'asphyxia due to an unsafe sleep environment.' A child abuse specialist reported that Spencer's high level of intoxication likely contributed to the death and that if RK had been placed in a bassinet, he would likely still be alive.
'Probably really drunk,' she told police
During a police interview, Spencer admitted she had been 'probably really drunk' and said she had passed out shortly after returning home. Officers discovered 15 empty alcohol cans in the home, including the four she had purchased hours before RK's death.
Despite the gravity of the charges, Spencer's partner Kelson continues to support her and recently took to Facebook to request legal assistance, calling the situation a tragic accident.
Spencer remains behind bars on a $500,000 bond and is due in court for a preliminary hearing on August 5.

Dharmasthala burial case: Court restrains media from carrying defamatory content
Bengaluru: A Bengaluru court has issued a restraining order against multiple media houses and YouTube channels, barring them from sharing defamatory content against Harshendra Kumar D, brother of Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade, in connection with the alleged burial of bodies at Dharmasthala. The order follows a defamation suit filed by the Secretary of Sri Manjunathaswamy Temple, after media reports surfaced citing allegations by a sanitation worker that he was forced by temple supervisors to bury several bodies. The worker, however, did not name Kumar or his family. X Additional City Civil & Sessions Judge Vijaya Kumar Rai noted the potential reputational harm and stated that such allegations, even if false, could severely impact the temple, its institutions, and students. '...when an allegation is made against the institution, and temple, it affects a wider range of people including the employees and students who are studying in various colleges and schools. Therefore, even a single false and defamatory publication would seriously affect the functioning of the institutions,' the order stated. The court also directed the removal or de-indexing of defamatory content already online. Kumar submitted a list of 8,842 defamatory links, including thousands of YouTube videos, Facebook and Instagram posts, news articles, and social media posts. He argued that no FIR named him or the temple's institutions, and one prior case had resulted in acquittal. Emphasising the need to balance free speech with protection from defamation, the court stated this was an exceptional case of baseless allegations. A John Doe order was also passed to cover unidentified individuals. The matter is set to be heard next on August 5.

Supreme Court Orders IPS Officer To 'Tender Unconditional Apology' To Husband And In-Laws Jailed In False Cases
The Supreme Court has directed an IPS officer to tender an unconditional public apology to her former husband and in-laws for the "physical and mental agony" caused by several false criminal cases she filed against them during their marital dispute, according to an NDTV report. A bench of Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justice AG Masih ordered the quashing of all ongoing cases in the matter and dissolution of the marriage, as the couple had separated in 2018. The apex court also ruled that the daughter will stay with her mother, and the husband and family can visit her. In its verdict, the court noted that the husband spent 109 days and his father 103 days in jail due to criminal cases filed by the wife. The court held that the suffering they had to endure was irreparable and directed the officer to tender a public apology. "The woman and her parents shall tender an unconditional apology to her husband and his family members, which shall be published in the national edition of a well-known English and a Hindi newspaper," NDT reported, quoting the judges. The judges said that the apology must also be published and shared on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other similar social media platforms within three days of the order. They clarified that this apology should not be seen as an admission of guilt and will not affect any legal rights, responsibilities, or consequences under the law. In another significant development, the Supreme Court has upheld the Allahabad High Court's guidelines regarding complaints/FIRs filed under the Domestic Violence Law (IPC 498A), which direct that accused persons should not be arrested for two months after the complaint is registered. The Supreme Court stated that the guidelines set by the Allahabad High Court will remain effective, and the concerned departments must adhere to them. The Allahabad High Court, in its 2022 judgment, issued these guidelines to curb the increasing trend of misuse of Section 498A, where the husband and his entire family are falsely implicated. The key instruction in the High Court's guidelines was that during a two-month cooling-off period after the FIR or complaint is registered, no arrest or police action will be taken against the accused. During this period, the matter will be immediately referred to the Family Welfare Committee in each district.

Indian man injured in ‘mindless, racist' attack in Ireland suburb
An Indian man in his 40s was hospitalised following what has been dubbed 'mindless, racist violence' in a suburb of the Irish capital of Dublin, with the Indian Ambassador to Ireland calling for the perpetrators to be brought to justice. According to local reports, the victim had arrived in Ireland a few weeks ago when he was targeted in an assault at Parkhill Road in Tallaght on Saturday evening. The Gardai, as the police are known in Ireland, have opened an investigation into the case. 'Gardaí in Tallaght were alerted to an incident at Parkhill Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24 on the evening of Saturday 19th July, 2025, at approximately 6pm,' the local police said in a statement. 'Gardaí attended the scene and a male, aged in his 40s was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with injuries,' the statement added. Indian Ambassador to Ireland Akhilesh Mishra was among those taking to social media to express his shock over the attack and also questioned some of the Irish media coverage of the violent assault. 'How can an 'ALLEGED' assault cause such horrible injury and bleeding? Aghast at the insensitivity & obfuscation of RTE [Ireland's national media outlet]… Hope the perpetrators are brought to justice,' he posted on X. The 'Irish Independent' newspaper reported that the Fine Gael party Councillor for Tallaght South, Baby Pereppadan, met with the man on Monday and said he remains in 'shock'. 'He couldn't speak much because of the shock he was in, he only arrived in Ireland three weeks ago. He is not taking any visitors at the moment,' Pereppadan told the newspaper. 'I am calling for more Garda (police) presence in the area. Small incidents like these are happening frequently in Tallaght. People need to understand that many Indian people moving to Ireland are here on work permits, to study and work in the healthcare sector or in IT and so on, providing critical skills,' he said. Meanwhile, a Stand Against Racism protest has been planned by the local community in condemnation of the 'vicious racist attack' and to express solidarity with migrants to the region. The demonstration, organised by United Against Racism and Dublin South West Together, will take place on Friday at the roundabout on Treepark Road in Kilnamamagh, a residential area in Tallaght. Dublin South West Together said in a Facebook post: 'A vicious racist attack in Kilnamanagh which left an Indian man needing hospital treatment. The man was walking through Kilnamanagh when he was set upon by a gang of youths. The man was stabbed, beaten and stripped. False accusations about the man were later spread on social media in an attempt to justify the attack. 'Racists and Far Right groups have stoked the fire against immigrants for months and this has fuelled racism across Dublin city. Our local community will be taking a stand against this attack. The people being attacked are our neighbours, their children are the children of our neighbours. We must stand by them and not allow racists who inflict violence to gain any more. 'Who lives here belongs here! Let this be a turning point against racist attacks in our community, Tallaght!'
