Gemma Atkinson set to lift the lid on weight loss drugs as she joins forces with Women's Health for a new wellness podcast
The radio presenter, 40, has joined forced with Women's Health magazine to launch their new show, Just As Well.
The show, which is also co-hosted Women's Health UK Editor-in-Chief, Claire Sanderson, will be centered around science and health advice, and will feature 'free-flowing chats'.
It will welcome guests such as medical doctor Tim Spector and nutritionist Emily English, as well as cover stars like Lioness Lucy Bronze, and other inspirational athletes at the top of their game, including global rugby star, Ellie Kildunne.
Their first episode will star cookbook author and recipe creator, Emily English, and is available on all major podcast platforms.
Gemma said: 'I'm thrilled to be part of this podcast and to have the opportunity to sit with and interview so many inspiring people.
'Health and wellness is extremely important to me and now being in my 40s and a mum, I want to ensure I'm here for as long as possible and thriving.
'I can't wait to pick the brains of the expert guests and athletes we have lined up to get as much information for you all as possible. I hope you love it as much as I do!'
Claire added: 'I'm so excited that Women's Health UK is enhancing its presence in the podcast space.
'Gemma and I are equally obsessed with wellness, and we can't wait to learn and act upon the information our guests share with us.
'Every episode is jam packed with advice and inspiration our audience can use today to have a healthier, happier tomorrow. It's a good old natter, but with useful takeaways that busy women can squeeze into their hectic days.'
The podcast's first episode will see nutritionist, author and recipe creator, Emily speak candidly on the debate around weight-loss drugs and the importance of building muscle mass, whilst also sharing her major learnings from her eating disorder earlier in life.
Following the rise in the use of drugs such as Ozempic and Mounjaro, Emily says: 'I know people who it's been life-changing for, and it's been the assistance and the helping hand that they've needed to heal their relationship and food noise.
'But then I also know people who did it because they were like, 'Oh, this can be an easy way to lose weight', but then hated how they couldn't go out for dinner, eat normally anymore, and have kind of the same way of living that they used to.'
Referencing GLP-1 drugs, which are typically used to treat diabetes, but more recently have been used by some as a way to lose weight, she added: 'I believe that everything has a time and a place, but if you're not addressing the fundamentals of what put you in the place to need GLPs in the first place, then I've said it before and I've been quoted, it's like sticking a plaster over a wound that needs stitches.'
Gemma's new project comes after her reality show, which she shared with her Strictly Come Dancing husband Gorka Márquez, was axed after just two series.
Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind The Lens, followed the couple's lives with their two children, but will not return for a third series.
Gemma and professional dancer, 34, met as co-stars on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, despite not being dance partners on the show.
But their relationship soon blossomed and they announced they were dating in 2018 - and now they share daughter Mia, five, and son Thiago, one.
A spokesperson for UKTV - which owns U&W, the channel the pair's series aired on - said: 'It's been a privilege to make two series of Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens with Two Rivers Media.
'Gemma and Gorka are both very busy with other projects at the moment, so at this time, there are no current plans for another series, but we look forward to working with them again soon.'
The announcement comes as a shock following Gemma's suggestion in November last year that the reality show would likely return - because it did so well.
When asked if it would return at the Pride of Britain Awards, she told the Express: 'Potentially, yeah.
'We're currently in talks to do it but we keep thinking, 'Why do people want to keep watching us doing nothing?'
'But it did really well, it was like the biggest show on their channel so possibly.'
The fly-on-the-wall programme promised to 'follow the unfiltered lives of actress and radio presenter Gemma Atkinson and professional dancer Gorka Marquez' when it hit our screens in August 2023.
The first series, which had just three episodes, primarily followed Gemma's pregnancy with their son Thiago.
Fans saw Gorka try to balance his dance tour with preparations for his son's arrival - and were even let into the couple's baby shower, before Thiago's arrival in the final episode.
The programme was a smash hit, returning for a second series in May last year - focussing this time on how they were adjusting to life as a family of four, across six episodes.
The couple said at the time: 'We're excited to be back on your screens for our second series.
'The messages we received, and are still receiving from the first series, have blown us away.
'We're glad so many families can relate to ours and the crazy, wonderful, and exhausting world of parenthood!'
Gemma rose to fame on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks and its various spin-offs before roles in BBC medical drama Casualty and rival ITV soap Emmerdale.
She made the move into presenting in 2017, taking the drivetime slot on Hits Radio.

Never buy deodorant again thanks to a 20p a go Boots buy that STOPS you sweating – yes even in this heat
A BEAUTY whizz has shared her top tip to put a stop to smelly pits this summer. Elle McNamara (AKA Bambi Does Beauty) took to social media to share her summer hack just in time for the hot weather. 3 The 34-year-old revealed that the buy stops your armpits from smelling, and it works even better than deodorant. In the clip, she said: "You know when people say this beauty tip is going to change your life? "Well this one actually will. Personal Hygiene Tip 101. "If you use this face wash on your underarms, you won't even need to wear deodorant." She recommended using a shower gel with 4% Benzoyl Peroxide. She said the product, which is often used to treat bacterial acne, also kills the bacteria which causes your sweat to smell. Instead of using it on your face, Elle recommended applying it to your underarms for a few minutes, like a face mask, before washing it off. She added: "For my sweaty gals who want a non-stanky summer! "Just make sure to use a separate washcloth to remove it cos benzoyl peroxide stains the life out of everything." It's best to use a 4 or 5% product as any stronger may cause a rash under the arms. My nose is permanently red after sunburn She also recommended using it just once a week and it should be enough to keep the smell at bay. You can buy the face wash Acnecide from Tesco for as little as £10 and it will cost less than 20p a go. The clip went viral on her TikTok account @ bambidoesbeauty with over 734k views and 31k likes. People were quick to thank her in the comments. One person wrote: "Yes, it definitely works but you need to wash it off super well otherwise it's going to stain your clothes!" How to keep cool in hot weather Most of us welcome hot weather, but when it's too hot, there are health risks. Here are three ways to keep cool according to the NHS... Keep out of the heat if you can. If you have to go outside, stay in the shade especially between 11am and 3pm, wear sunscreen, a hat and light clothes, and avoid exercise or activity that makes you hotter. Cool yourself down. Have cold food and drinks, avoid alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks, and have a cool shower or put cool water on your skin or clothes. Keep your living space cool. Close windows during the day and open them at night when the temperature outside has gone down. Electric fans can help if the temperature is below 35 degrees. Check the temperature of rooms, especially where people at higher risk live and sleep. Another commented: "They also have a spray that works well." "Tried it - works like charm! especially in the summer," penned a third. Meanwhile a fourth said: "It most definitely works 100%, I only use it like 2 times a week and it's magic." "It's amaaaaaaazing, hands down beats any product for sweat,' claimed a fifth

Traditional English seaside town reveals huge £1.8million pier transformation
THE historic Great Yarmouth Pier is in the midst of a makeover. Its pier along the Golden Mile seafront has been open since 1901, and thanks to new funding, it has undergone a major transformation with more to come. 4 4 Britannia Pier was always recognisable from the huge advertisements of its upcoming shows and celebrity performers, to its orange 1970s style sign lettering. After £1.8million worth of funding, it now has a new look. The building is sleek and white with grey letters and detailing, looking worlds away from the facade it has had for a number of years. The original wooden Britannia Pier was built in Great Yarmouth in 1858, but was demolished in 1899. In 1901, a new steel and timber frame was constructed but was destroyed after a series of fires and rebuilt. Then in 2022, the pier was bought by Triangle Amusements who applied for planning permission to upgrade the site. Since then, there has been a new amusement arcade and a new front. And a second phase of work is expected to start in October 2025, which will focus on the food stalls and cabin. Despite the ongoing works, the pier is open during the summer and ready for business too. Comedy acts including Jimmy Carr, top tribute acts including Abba, Whitney Houston, Queen and Elvis will be hitting the pier. English seaside town to transform abandoned beach shelters into new attraction 4 There's also a Summy Kids Party event (tickets £3) taking place every Wednesday from 6.30-9.30pm before the free fireworks display. Great Yarmouth has everything you need for a classic British beach break. Last year, Sun readers put together their favourite spots that you just cannot miss like the Joyland amusement park. There you'll find the Super Snails ride, Tubs, Jet Cars, Spook Express and Neptune's Kingdom as well as slush drinks and ice-creams. Another reader suggested the Breydon Water nature reserve. When it comes to beaches, one of the favourites is the nearby Goreleston-on-Sea that they said is "considerably more quiet." They went on to add that it's a "lovely sandy beach and has a nice restaurant called The Fig which is a pizzeria/Greek restaurant overlooking the beach." Plus, the English town home to the world's largest fish and chip shop. And the cheap UK seaside towns that Sun Travel loves – where a day out for the whole family costs from just £25. 4

Sky Sports ‘bring back iconic football show that ran for 20 years' after it was axed in 2020
SKY SPORTS are set to bring a hugely popular format back to fans' screens, according to reports. The broadcasting giant are reportedly planning on bringing back a Sunday media review show - similar to previous fan favourite show Sunday Supplement. 1 Sunday Supplement, which ran for 20 years, was axed by Sky Sports back in 2020. But, according to the Mail Online, the company has now decided to resurrect the format, but won't be bringing the name back to life with it. Sunday Supplement saw industry insiders and journalists talk through the weekend's drama and chat about the major stories set for the papers too. Despite its disappearance off screens five years ago, Sky still gave fans a taste of the show in podcast form in the years since. It's claimed that Sky Sports are expected to make an announcement in the coming weeks. SunSport have approached Sky for comment. Sunday Supplement first formed part of Sky's offering in 1999 under the name of Hold The Back Page. The show was first hosted by former Match of the Day host Jimmy Hill, while other hosts over the years included Brian Woolnough and Neil Ashton. And high-profile panelists involved in show included the likes of Henry Winter and Oliver Holt. Sky pointed to the congested football calendar following Covid-19 as one of the reasons they chose to take Sunday Supplement off air.
